Chapter 1: The set up
Willow and Buffy sat at the table in the Magic Box and was reading some books. “I don’t know why every demon that comes to Sunnydale thinks they can open my Hellmouth.” Buffy complained.
“Well not every demon. I mean Faith hasn’t tried yet.” Willow said with a small smile.
“Will stop that. Faith isn’t a demon, she’s a slayer and she’s young.” The blond replied.
“Buff please I like her too but she…well she isn’t one of us.” Willow stated as she pushed up to get another book.
The two girls went on with their reading and talking total oblivious to the fact that Faith was in the loft reading up on the new big bad. She sat by the railing and listened to the two friends. She let the tears fall openly without making a sound. Faith was used to being unwanted, but she thought that being a slayer would be different.
After the two girls left the shop. Faith came down from the loft. She heard Giles and Anya in the training room. She left a note on the counter telling Giles that she was going on an extra patrol and then left.
Tara stepped out from the store room where she had been hiding and listening to the two girls talking. She had seen Faith write the note and her face wet from the tears. “I think it’s about time these slayers see that they need each other.’ Tara said to her self as she left the store. No one knew she was there and she wanted to keep it that way. As she left the store she waved her hand into the air to stop the bell from ringing.
As Faith entered the west cemetery, she could feel the demon and there was something else.
‘Wait I thought she went home.’ Faith thought as she trailed around behind the demon. She looked closer and seen Buffy fighting to get free from the demon’s death grip. Faith jumped to action. She jumped onto the nearest headstone and then on to the demons back. The demon let go of Buffy and flipped Faith onto her back Buffy ran to Faith’s side. Helping the dark slayer to her feet. The two girls stood side by side ready to fight, but something wasn’t right. The demon seemed to be almost transparent. The two slayers looked at each other and back to where the demon was standing, he was gone.
“Okay what just happened?” Buffy asked.
“Like I would know.” Faith spat.
They turned to walk out of the cemetery and go tell Giles what happened. They turned and there stood the demon. He raised his hand to his mouth and blew something that looked like dust at the two slayers. The dust lingered around their heads then grew bright orange, Faith grabbed Buffy’s arm and turned to run when they both pasted out.
Tara stood behind the mausoleum and watched as the chosen two lay quietly on the ground. “Now they will need each other!”
