The Lawyer

A/N: Sorry that I haven't updated in forever! I've had this chapter done for several months, just forgot to update it..Chapter Seven will come shortly.




Chapter Six

Angel turned towards the door, and glared at Buffy. She was at a complete loss as to why they were all staring angrily at her. Lindsey and Angel were staring at each other with their fist clenched at their sides. She understood that they knew each other, she just didn’t understand how. Angel stepped around Lindsey and headed straight for Buffy. He turned his head, and Buffy saw him grimace, and she understood why. He could smell Lindsey on her. Just as he probably smelled her on Lindsey. He held out his hand to her.

“ Would it be alright if we stepped into my office for a moment, please?” Buffy didn’t say anything, but she sidestepped his hand, and walked into his office without a word. When he shut the door, he whirled around to face her.

“ How could you bring him here? I understand the fact that we’re not together anymore, and that’s fine. What I don’t get is why you’d date him, let alone bring him into my home!” Angel said all of this in a shout, causing Buffy to respond in a likewise shout.

“ I don’t even know how you know him, Angel. Not to mention the fact that it’s none of your business who I do and do not date. As I said before, do you care to tell me what the hell is going on?” Angel gave a frustrated sigh.

“ You’re going to stand there and tell me that you don’t know who he is?” Buffy crossed her arms.

“ I just met him last week, Angel.” Angel stopped his ranting, and stared at her.

“ Well that was quick.” Buffy walked up to him, and stood toe to toe with him.

“ I’m not going to even dignify that with a response. Just tell me what it is I need to know.” Angel threw his arms up in the air, and sat down on his desk.

“ He’s one of the Lawyer’s that used to work for Wolfram and Hart. He spent a good majority of his time trying to turn me into Angelus, and torture my friends. He’s the one who got Faith to come after me that one time.” Buffy couldn’t even fathom a thought when he told her this. She should have known that her luck wasn’t that good. Lindsey was just using her to get to hurt Angel. She’d deal with him when she finished with Angel’s Demon problem. She glared at Angel.

“ What’s the deal with the Demon’s? That’s why you called me here, because you needed help destroying Demon’s?” Angel nodded his head.

“ Yes, that is the reason I called you here. They’re Thevlar Demons, I believe you’ve fought them before.” Buffy nodded, and the only reason she’d remembered them is because she’d called them Kevlar, and Giles had corrected her. She looked at him once more.

“ Let’s go take care of these things, just you and me. I’ll deal with Lindsey myself when I get back, okay?” Angel just nodded because he knew that she was really mad. He knew from previous experience, that you didn’t want to piss Buffy off. Buffy whipped around, and threw the door open. She didn’t even look at Lindsey, she just grabbed an axe from his weapons closet, and walked out the front door. Angel was close on her heels, when Gunn stopped him.

“ That’s your woman, Angel? Damn, you have good taste. She’s fine, she can kick ass, and she’s comfortable with big weapons...my kind of woman.” Angel just smiled, and went out the same entrance that Buffy had used. The sun was down, so he didn’t have to worry about that.

The trip to the sewer entrance was made in silence. Angel knew that Buffy was seething with anger, and she needed to vent some of that anger. He was glad that she was going to be slaying, because even though he hated Lindsey with a passion, he didn’t need to feel her full wrath. When they got to the entrance, buffy bent down, and pulled it open with one hand. Angel knew she had super powers, but he still marveled at her strength. When they were down in the sewer, she turned to face him.

“ Why did Spike hide from me? I know he’s with you. How come he didn’t come out and say hello, or even pick up a telephone?” Angel shrugged.

“ Spike is stupid like that, but he’s got a point. He know’s you’ve got to have a normal life, and he wanted to give that to you. He figured that you’d grieved for him, and that you’d moved on. He didn’t want you to forget your life, and come running to him. That came out wrong...he didn’t want to mess up your life.” Buffy clenched her mouth shut for a few moments, to keep from swearing.

“ You tricky vampires, and your sense of nobility. That really does get old. By the way, you might have told me your lawyer friend’s name, and maybe I would be in this stupid situation in the first place.” Before Angel could reply, two Thevlar demons jumped on them.

When Buffy and Angel walked through the doors of the Hyperion Hotel, everyone jumped to their feet. Fred, Gunn, Wesley, Lorne, Spike, and Lindsey all jumped up at the sight of them. Buffy walked over to where Spike and Lindsey were standing. She went over to Spike first, and slapped him hard across the face. When she heard Lindsey gasp, she whipped around, and decked him on the jaw, causing him to go flying back onto the couch. Spike growled at her.

“ Dammit woman, what in the bloody hell was that for?!” Buffy turned on him.

“ You didn’t have the decency to pick up the phone, and say something like ‘ hi Buffy, I’m back from the undead, just thought you should know’! I’m beginning to think that Willow had the right idea when she became a lesbian, because men are rats, and I officially resign myself of them!” After stating this, she walked over to Angel, and stopped just in front of him.

“ Do you have a room I can stay in for the night, or should I go to a local motel?” Angel spoke very softly.

“ Fred can show you a vacant room, and you’re welcome to stay as long as you like.” Buffy snorted at this statement.

“ Thank you, but I’ll be out of here with the first rays of sunshine.” After stating this, she stalked to her room. Lindsey started to go after her, but Spike stopped him.

“ Seriously mate, if you value your privates, I’d stay clear for the time being.”
