The Hart of L.A.
Awk-Chapter Seventeen
Buffy,
I couldn’t sleep, so I went
patrolling. Stay as long as you
like. I probably won’t be home
till early morning.
With love,
Angel
p.s. There’s food in the fridge.
Buffy looked on the microwave, and saw it was only 1:00 A.M. Angel would be out until at least 5:00 A.M. She decided to leave her own note, but not to stay. She hoped that he wouldn’t be to upset with her for not staying, but she just wasn’t comfortable.
When Angel got in that morning, he was hoping that Buffy would still be there, but he could tell right away, that she was gone. Her scent was fading already, so she must have left quite a bit ago. He couldn’t figure out why she’d leave, and not wait for him. It was amazing that she woke up anyway. She was usually a heavy sleeper. He wondered if she’d gotten the note that she’d left him. He noticed there was still a note on the fridge, but it wasn’t his hand writing. He walked over, and picked up the note that Buffy had left for him.
Angel,
I felt kind of weird hanging
in your house by myself, so I
went home. See you later,
Buffy.
Angel was aggravated by the note she’d left for him. They’d been together for awhile now, and he didn’t get it. She used to hang with him at his crypt, and she didn’t want to stay in his nice apartment? She didn’t even say she loved him or anything. He was going to have to have a talk with her, but he needed to eat and rest first. He opened the fridge, and got a pint of blood out, still mulling over her note. He hadn’t slept well in the last couple of days, because he kept thinking about Buffy. Luckily, things had died down quite a bit, there weren’t nearly as many Demons lurking around these days. It was as if they knew something they didn’t, which was probably true. He went and laid down in his bed, with Buffy’s scent still on the covers.

Fred was shocked when Wesley stepped into the guest room. The look on his face surprised her too, it was anger, but sadness.
" You left our room. Why would you do that? Are you mad at me? I don’t understand, and I wanna talk about this."
Fred didn’t know what to do. She had every argument in the world, but now that he was talking to her, she couldn’t say anything. It was weird how he had that affect on her. It was as if whenever she got around him, all of her anger dissolved. It was kind of unnerving, but she dealt with it.
" Wesley, I know you’ve been busy, I do, but you have been very mean to me. I mean, you’ve been ignoring me, and every time I try to talk to you, you bite my head off. I don’t have to put up with that, which is why I moved. I do not need this kind of stress in my condition."
It took a few minutes for what she said to sink into Wesley’s brain.
" Your condition? You have a condition? What’s the matter? Can I help? Do you need a doctor? We can find you a doctor, surely there’s one still open."
Fred couldn’t help but giggle at the way Wesley was acting. All of the sudden he was scared to death that she wasn’t going to be okay. That’s the way it should be. It shouldn’t be just when he thought she was sick, though. She hoped she could make him see the way he’d been acting.
" Wesley...honey, calm down. I don’t need a doctor, I’ve already been to see him."
Wesley walked over to the bed.
" And? Are you ill?"
Fred giggled at him again.
" No, Wesley........I"m pregnant."

Dawn was in heaven, well her idea of heaven anyway. She was snuggled up to Connor in the living room. Buffy had got home at about 2:00 A.M. , but it was almost 6:00 now. Buffy had said that Connor could stay as long as they were awake and not sleeping. She looked up at him, and saw him yawn, which made her yawn. He noticed her yawn and they laughed to each other. They were so comfortable around each other now. She was still sad over the Andrew thing, because he wouldn’t even talk to her now. She at least wanted to be friends with him, but he would have none of it. She spent most of her free time with Connor now. She was really glad that it was only Sunday, because she didn’t have school. Since they’d be staying there as long as it took for them to find this Demon thing, Buffy had made her sign up for the local school here. At first, she was upset about it, but now she went to school with Connor. Which was all the better. He noticed her smile, and grinned back at her.
" So, what are you grinning about?" She ducked her head.
" Nothing, I was just thinking about how it doesn’t bother me that you have to leave soon, cause I see you every day anyway. I see you on the weekends because of who your dad is, and we go to the same school together. Is that dorky?"
Connor smiled at her.
" No, I don’t think It’s dorky at all. I agree with you, only I don’t wanna be apart from you. I guess I do have to go, though. I’m about to pass out here, and you’re sister would totally kick my ass." Dawn shook her head.
" I think you could take her." He smiled and kissed her.
" I don’t think so, Dawnie. Faith kicked my ass, and if what I’ve been hearing is true, then your sister would really kick my ass. So, I guess I really should be going. I think we’re having a meeting later today, and I wanna get some sleep." With that said, he stood up.
"I’ll talk to you later?" She stood up then as well, and looped her arms around his neck.
" I’ll see you later."
