Chapter 4:Dreams
Chapter 4: Dreams
Will ran down the stairs and went into the living room were Buffy had been before, she found her still lying on the couch as she was when Will saw her an hour ago, before going back upstairs.
Willow walked up to the couch and kneeled beside it. Softly she called to her friend.
“Buffy, are you awake?”
Slowly, Buffy turned to face her, eyes vacant. “Will, what are you doing here?”
“Came to see you, Buffy, was kind of worried”.
“Why would you be worried, Will”, Buffy sat up and looked at her friend. “It’s something wrong?”.
“Well, Buffy, I was worried about you. Would you go outside with me, so we can talk.... Giles came with me and he’s upstairs with Xander, we could be alone outside...”
Buffy had an expression of wonder in her eyes now. “Sure, Will, let’s go. When did you get here? I didn’t hear a thing”.
They stepped into the porch and Buffy sat in the steps, her eyes trying to adjust to the light, she had not been outside in the sun in a long time. She motioned for Willow to join her.
“I would had picked you up from the airport, why didn’t you let me know you were coming? is Dawny with you, Kennedy?”
“No, just Giles and me”
Will sat for a second and then looked at Buffy with a serious expression in her eyes, eyebrows together.
“Buffy, Xander called us, we didn’t fly in, we ported. He was really worried about you and wanted us here, and now that we are here, I’m worried as well”.
Buffy didn’t say anything, she knew her friend and waited for her to go on.
“Xander says you are not eating, and that you are not acting like yourself, I really didn’t think that much of it, but there is something terribly wrong going on, you are kind of fading”.
At that Buffy let up a strained laugh, “I’m fading?, Will, come on, what are you talking about, nothing’s wrong, I’m Ok. I just don’t eat as much, you know, without all the slaying I just don’t need to recharge as I used to, Xander called you for nothing. But is still nice to see you.....”
Will raised a hand to stop her, “Buff, your aura is practically not there, I almost couldn’t feel you with a locator spell, and Xander told us about the nightmares”.
Buffy was pissed off now, Will could see it, but before she said anything Will went on. “Don’t be mad, you know we love you, and before you go kick Xander’s ass, you should know that he didn’t want to tell us, and he didn’t before today, though he kind of knows about what happened, and know I took the opportunity to set Giles strait on some of the facts.
You told me, shared what happened with me, I really do understand something of what you went through, I need to know what’s going on inside you now, what’s affecting you this way, I love you, let me help, please?”
Buffy expression turned sad, so sad that Will felt her eyes grow moist.
“I don’t know”.
“What do you mean?”
Buffy took a deep breath. “You know what happened”, when Willow nodded, she went on. “After.....you know, I missed him so much, I felt so guilty about so many thing.....I used to dream a lot, about him, about the past, mostly. Lately, I can’t remember my dreams, I just know about them because I wake up so scared, sweaty, my heart beating fast and all I know is that I’m scared of sleeping, Will”. She took her friend’s hands in hers, looked into her eyes. “I wanted to tell you, I really did, I just..... didn’t know what to say, but I’m happy Xander asked you to come, I don’t think I ever been this frightened before, I think I’m .... dying”.
Will was shocked, she knew there was something wrong, but she hadn’t been prepared for this. Not only did Buffy know she had a problem, she thought she was in danger, real danger.
“Because of the dreams?”
“I don’t know, I can’t remember......I just don’t know” tears came to her eyes and felt over her checks, “I’m afraid to go to sleep Will, I really am! I can’t feel myself, I space out and I think maybe one of this days I’m not going to come back, it’s getting harder to react, I’m just so numb..... Like everything is at a distance”.
Will took her friend into her arms, holding her tightly against her, Buffy sobbing into her chest, “I’ll help you Buffy, we’ll figure it out, I promise”.
