Awk-Chapter Fourteen

Buffy was sitting on her couch with Dawn watching some movie about a bunch of kids on a back packing trip through Europe. Dawn thought this movie to be hilarious, but Buffy was just sorta lost. Then again, she wasn’t really paying attention to the movie. She had bigger problems playing in her mind. She was still really upset about Angel not telling her about the prophecy sooner. It hurt almost as much as him not telling her about Connor. Granted she hadn’t really been apart of his life the last couple of years, but they had kept in contact. Everyone up here knew about it, just not her! It was stupid to be this upset about it, but she couldn’t help it. Just as Dawn was laughing at something on the tv, there was a knock on the front door. Buffy got up from her place on the couch, and went to answer the door. When she opened it, she found Connor on her doorstep.

" Well hi, what are you doing here?" He bent his head a little to indicate he was embarrassed.

" My dad asked me to come and get you. He wants to talk to you about something, and I figured if it was alright with you, I could hang out with Dawn til you get back." Buffy stifled a giggle, but she didn’t know how comfortable she was letting the two of them stay here. Then she remembered Willow. She’d come back from the hospital about an hour ago, and was in her room. She could watch the two of them while she was gone.

Buffy told the two teenagers that it was fine provided Willow was on the same floor as they were. She was walking to Angel’s new apartment, when she saw Cordelia coming out of his building looking rather pissed. She didn’t know if she should stop her and talk to her or not. She’d never really been close to Cordy at all, and she hadn’t seen her for four years until recently. She didn’t have to worry about it, though, because Cordelia stopped her.

" I suppose I know where you’re headed. He told me he’d sent for you, and surprise, surprise, you came running. I want you to know that Angel didn’t sulk over you. Sure he had his moments, when he’d think of you, but there were several things to keep him occupied. I was one of those things. He wants to act as if nothing at all happened between the two of us, but I’m telling you, there was. We were on our way to telling each other that we were in love, when Connor grabbed him, and I ascended to a higher plain. Now that you’re back in the picture, he’s set on ignoring me. I’m not going to take this lying down, I just want you to know that." With this grand speech given, Cordy turned on her heel, and left. With nothing left to do, Buffy finished her way up to Angel’s door. She didn’t even have to knock, the door was open.

" Well, I guess you really were expecting me, huh?" She’d walked into his apartment with a light tapping on the door frame. He was sitting in a chair looking right at her.

" I was indeed. I wasn’t expecting for Cordelia to come here ripping me a knew one. I suppose she stopped to talk to you?" Buffy smiled, and shut the door behind her.

" She is a talker, that Cordelia. She was full of some interesting information." Angel just shook his head and stood up. He walked slowly over to her, and put his hands in his pocket.

" The reason I wanted you to come over, was tell you I know you’re mad. You have every right to be, but then again, you don’t. The reason I didn’t tell you-" Buffy cut him off, before he could finish his sentence.

" Look, Angel. I know I seemed angry, but most of that was shock. I wasn’t apart of you’re life here when you first came here. I had my thing in Sunnydale, and you were no longer in that. It’s understandable why you didn’t tell me. I was just shocked that I was the last to know." Angel just smiled at her.

Talia was ready to talk to him. The trouble was, she couldn’t find him. She’d been over to Xander’s new apartment, to Buffy’s, even to Spike’s, but he was nowhere to be found. She had some stuff she really wanted to say to him, but how could she do that, when he was playing a disappearing act. She was on her way back to her own apartment, when she saw him sitting on the steps in front her building. As she approached, she couldn’t help but start to laugh. He stood up when he saw her, and came towards her.

" Hey, what’s so funny?" She stopped a mere three inches in front of him.

" I’ve been everywhere trying to find you, and here you are. Right where the search started." He laughed with her, but then sobered, as they both knew they had to talk. Without a word, she started up the steps, and he followed. When they got in her living room she motioned for him to sit. Xander sat down, and Talia sat down across from him.

" I know we’ve already talked about pretty much everything, but I was wondering if you’d like to have dinner with me sometime. I Can’t stop thinking about you." Xander smiled at her. He wasn’t used to having a girl ask him out this politely. After Anya he was so used to having girls just bark orders at him.

" I’d like that, talia, but if we’re gonna do this, I’d like to take things slow. If that’s okay with you." She smiled at him.

" That’s what I was going for too." She couldn’t stop smiling at him.

" So, now that that’s out of the way, what do you say we watch a movie?" Xander nodded at her, and they settled on a comedy.

Connor was sitting in his room, when the phone rang. He heard Angel pick up the phone and start talking to the person on the other end like he knew them. The next thing he knew, Angel was knocking on his door. When he entered his room ,he smirked and threw the phone at him.

" Dawn’s on the phone. I think it’s cute." With that he walked out of the room, and didn’t see the pillow connect with door as it closed. Talking on the phone had become a regular thing for Dawn and Connor. They could talk on the phone for hours with each other, and they always wanted to be near each other. It was the beginning of several relationships.
