Chapter 15: Friends Can Hurt You
They entered the house to find Xander lying on the floor on the other side of the coffee table. Willow run to him and called his name. At the same time Giles was checking on Buffy, who still lay on the couch, though one of her legs was hanging over the side, her foot on the floor.
Xander was coming to. Willow helped him to one of the other sofas. He held his head with one hand, using the other one to try to stop Willow from examining his head.
Willow wanted to know “How did you end up on the floor with a huge bump on your head?”
“I’m Ok Will, I think I bumped into the table when the Buffter send me flying through the air”.
At Giles inquisitive look Xander settled more comfortably on the sofa. “Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? I was laying on the couch with Buffy as I talked to Angel and then Dawn”.
He took a deep breath. “Angel doesn’t know where Dru is, he’s going to try and find her.” Turning to Willow. “And by the way, Harmony says Hi”. At her exasperated look he continued.
“I talked to Dawn, she’s arriving tomorrow and someone has to pick her up at the airport. After that I think I dowse off. Next thing I know, Buffy was shaking like crazy, it looked like she was having a seizure or something. I tried to hold her, that’s when I became airborne.
She throw me right out of he couch and into the coffee table. Then Willow was calling my name. Is the Buffter Ok? Did you found the amulet?”
“She seems the same as before we left. And yes, we found it”. Giles was suddenly very concerned. “You say she was convulsing?”
As he turned to the others Willow’s eyes opened wide and both her and Xander stared at the couch. Giles turned back in time to catch a flying arm before it could hit him in the face.
Buffy was having another seizure, a very violent one. The three friends tried to restrained her, but that was impossible. “This is futile, she’s stronger than the three of us”. Giles said.
“Yeah, we could use a vampire right about now”. Xander said, he was laying almost completely on top of Buffy, but he had the feeling that wouldn’t last for long. “Where are the friendly undead when you need them?”
The seizure stopped as abruptly as it had started.
“We need to do something!” Giles voice was raspy, maybe because of the exertion of trying to hold Buffy still or maybe because of fright.
Willow’s thoughts were going in the same direction. “Something must have changed, I’ll try to see what it is”.
“Will, you said it was a one time deal, you can’t go back there”. Xander sounded desperate. “I want to help Buffy, but there must be another way”.
“I’m not doing the same spell again, I’m going to try to see what’s going on from a distance, I don’t know if it’ll work, but maybe I can catch a glimpse and that could help us”.
“You can promise me is safe?”
“Thrust me?”
“I always do”
