Absolutely gorgeous ending sluggie:D I'm a big ol'smut monster, I just can't get enough, but I'm kinda glad it was a sweet ending. Now, don't let that put you off doing a sequel - I love fics where they annoy the hell out of each other yet still really love each other (and of course have hot hot hot sex) hell it was what I loved about the couple on the show. Great work thanks for a wonderful story.

Glad you stuck with it and finished the last chapter, despite some of the negative comments. I really liked the whole story (even the 'controversial' chapter) and I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel. It's nice to have characters that behave like real people (and that includes fucking up). Love all your stories- hope you write a lot more!

See, rw onw on the archive. Wonderful story!!!! The angst of relatiops aps always gets me. I liked how the "experimentation" with sex between the two and it going sour was perfect. I mean, that stuff happens all the time. You should hear what people stick up their asses... it's hillarious to talk to the ER docs when they get loose mouthed.

I liked it. And I like the ending better without the smut. But a sequel would be cool...

Decided to brave the end of this one out (I'm a masochist like that... or just curious.) Either way, I'm glad I did. The reconciliation scene "I hurt the girl", "I hurt the boy" was very well done. Kudos, sluggie. Gave me the feeling that they finally understood that they were starting from the same (emotional) place. It was a hard thing you did, and you did it well. Thank you.

hey! I wasn't going to review but then i saw some stuff on your LJ and i just wanted to let you know that i really like this story. I do find it pretty light hearted and funny (although not that bottle part...ouch) and Spike didn't really come across as all evil. Anyways, good job and keep up the good work ( as a side bar: I think that if people do have a problem with this then they really shouldn't be reading NC-17 material at all)

Check me out just reading and reviewing and being entirely unaware of the hoohah!.
I'm a gobshite so I'm gonna stick my two pennorth in here. If anyone wants to disagree, I welcome the discussion but please read ALL of my little diatribe first.
I agree with Dahlia to the point that I don't think him saying 'I love you' should be a cure-all for what happened. However, that's not all he said. He also apologised profusely and tried to explain that his intent was not to REALLY hurt her.
The way I read it, he was hurt angry gry (and no, I'm not saying that excuses his behaviour or that Buffy should have immediately forgiven him) and what with the games they had been playing a line got blurred. The way I read it when the 'bottle incident' first started, he was saying nasty things, but Buffy was getting off on it a little(probably cos of the mindset they were both in from what had gone before) . It's no new thing for some women to find 'demeaning/degrading' things a turn on.

IMHO things just got way out of control. Spike wasn't thinking and did something VERY stupid. He was sorry afterwards (immediately that he realised something was really wrong), he wasn't saying 'you deserved it bitch' or laughing at her. I honestly read his remorse as genuine too, not the kind of faux remorse often found in abusive men, who will feign regret to get the woman back where they want them. Also the way I read her friends, maybe they were a little too quick to condemn her and defend him BUT they did point out that he seemed genuinely sorry.

All that said, I don't blame Buffy avoiavoiding him, and I don't share Cordy's vihat hat she was a heartless bitch - but thenon'on't often share Cordy's views on a lot of things. This is a controversial area but I hope my interpretation was close to what you intended to put across with this part Sluggie.
Like you said, people are always going to see things differently (liked the priest/reverend analogy - worked well for me). However, I personally don't think you are a 'sucky' author. Of course I myself may have misunderstood what you wanted to convey with this part.

Just so that you know, I was not criticizing you as an author, nor trying to dictate the direction of your story. I also read every single line, so I was not making any sweeping generalizations, and I certainly was not trying to lecture you. I will continue this in your LJ if that's ok, so I don't take up room here, and some of the stuff I wanted to explain is more personal.
