Disclaimer:
I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Best Laid Plans
Rating: PG this part, very much NC-17 later
Feedback: It would be amazingly wonderful.
Archiving: Take it if you want, in fact I encourage it, but try and let me know.
Author’s note: The best way to see me write more stories is to write some of your own. It is encouraging to see other author’s out in the genre. This is my first fic, hope you all enjoy it.
The story is in response to this challenge
Willow decides that the best way to 'prove herself' to Oz is to set Xander up with another girl. She chooses Faith. Perhaps she enlists Buffy's and/or Angel's help. Meanwhile, Cordelia, fearing the possible return of Angelus, decides to set Buffy up with another guy, and reluctantly picks Xander. She might ask Faith and/or Giles for help.
This is set soon after “The Zeppo”

Cordelia was worried. Not an unusual occurrence under normal circumstances. She constantly worried about keeping up with current fashion trends, maintaining her high social standing, and making sure no one forgot who was queen in Sunnydale High.
But her current worry was a bit unusual, that being death. Sure she dealt with it on a normal basis, but it wasn’t something she could really avoid, she did live on a hellmouth after all. However not only was her current worry something she had experienced in the past, it was right in front of her eyes.
That was the sight of Angel and Buffy sitting very close together while they looked over a book, supposedly researching some info on the mayor and what he may be up to. One apocalypse averted, meant time to start worrying about the next one.
No one ever claimed that Cordelia was the smartest person in the world, but she did understand people, especially when it came to relationships. Years of trying to keep on top of Sunnydale’s social scene often required her to know who was interested in whom. And that is why she was the only one of the group of basically social outcasts who saw what was happening.
Buffy and Angel weren’t just involved; they were one step away from being involved in bed.
Cordy knew they might be able to stop themselves, but trusting a teenage girl and a guy with a beautiful teenage girl not to start rolling around in bed together was a little to much to put the fate of the world on.
“Ok the fate of the world depends on you then,” Cordelia thought, not realizing that most people would not find that any more comforting. “Buffy and Angel can’t have sex, you just can’t tell them, they are in denial. No one else can stop them from doing it, which means you have to convince one of them that sex with the other isn’t necessary.”
Cordelia looked at Angel, “Hmmm, if I can get him alone I could show him how good a real woman can be and then … no, if Buffy was able to give him complete happiness why I'd probably give him ten times that. Angelus ten times more dangerous wouldn’t be good.”
Cordelia looked at Buffy and sighed “I guess it means the bleach blonde nun it is then. Ok, who could convince her.”
Cordy first few candidates were crossed right off, that being the attractive members of the differsporsports teams. Sure any guy would go for a shot with Buffy, but how to get the two together would be practically impossible. Giles, way to old that Cordy couldn’t even imagine it. Oz was so in love with Willow that he probably couldn’t even conceive of sleeping with another girl. Maybe Buffy would be interested in another girl.
Cordelia sighed, “No, unfortunately that isn’t going to happen, Buffy couldn’t even admit it if she was. I guess that leaves one option.”
Standing right in front of her was her one option speaking up to her, “Cordy, did you come in for something, or are you just going to stand there and stare?”
“Well Xander,” Cordelia reluctantly said. “Actually I just came to stand and stare. Wanted to see how the other half-lives, you know, the depressed having no friends half that everyone hates. But I have to leave, it’s been fun.”
“What a weird girl,” Angel murmured as Cordy turned and left. “I thought she was here to help research.”
“Who Cordelia?” Buffy said as she inched a bit closer to Angel. “She doesn’t have a thought in her h”
”
Xander shrugged as he carried a pile of books over to the table, trying not to notice either Cordy’s snide tone or how close Buffy and Angel where. “Speaking of peoplth tth thought’s in there head, any idea when Willow and Oz or suppose to be back with the pizza?”
Oz’s van
Willow didn’t know what was going on. She and Oz were suppose to go pick up pizza for there all night study session. Of course that meant that they should be able to get in, as she thought of it, good smoochy time. But she seemed to be the only one trying.
“Oz, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, we should just go get the pizza,” he said avoiding the question.
“Please,” she said with a pout. “What’s wrong?”
“I just …” Oz began. “Would you rather be dating Xander?”
“What? No, of course not,” Willow protested.
“You know it’s ok if you do,” he told her. “I love you more then anything and I want you to be with who you want.”
“I want you.”
“I’m just worried is all,” Oz told her. “And we really should get the pizza.”
“Ok,” Willow said but her mind was on other things, mainly insuring her boyfriend realized she was going to stay with him. “But you need to drop me off on the way, there is someone I need to talk to.”
