"Little Chocolate Covered Doughnuts"

-

Faith sat on the bed, exhausted and sore from the previous night's rough and tumble with the other slayer. She still couldn't believe she had been totally snowed by that imitation watcher woman. Trying to clear her mind, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It didn't clear much. In her mind she saw Buffy, telling Faith that she could trust her and then her face falling when Faith had blown her off.

"Why do you keep pullin' the tough stuff, Faith?" she sighed to herself.

She shifted on the bed, wincing at the pain in her shoulder. But it was nothing compared to the heavy feeling in her heart.

-

Buffy pulled her coat tightly around her as she walked down Main Street. She didn't know why she'd chosen to wear a dress today, since it was so cold. Her thoughts drifted from her weather-blind fashion sense to the events of the past weeks.

Angel was back. It was nice thing, having him back, but nothing could ever be the same between them. She had drawn the line, knowing that they’d never be what they were before... before she had killed him. In the attempt to forget about the Angel situation for a while, her mind suddenly projected an image of her mother and her watcher from the chocolate bar incident.

"Ew! New thoughts... new thoughts..."

And then her mind shifted gears to thoughts of the new slayer. Now Faith was something to think about. Buffy still wasn't sure where she stood with her. At first she had been a bit wary of the way the new kid had waltzed into her life. Her watcher liked her, her friends loved her and her mom adored her.

"And what do I think of her?" Buffy asked herself.

But she already knew the answer.

-

Faith shuffled along the Revello Drive sidewalk, trying to figure out what she was doing.

"What am I gonna do? Knock on her door and tell her I'm in love with her? Good plan, Faith. She'll probably stake you."

At least then she'd have some peace. Images and thoughts of the other slayer had been invading her mind ever since she'd met her. She was jealous of Xander, Willow, Giles, even Cordelia, because they saw Buffy every day at school. Sure, they patrolled together and hung at the Bronze, but she always felt herself wanting just five more minutes. Just five more minutes to say what she was feeling.

She stopped, listening to the late autumn afternoon for any signs of rustling demons. It was already getting dark and she wasn't packing any stakes. She began walking again and breathed a sigh of relief when she reached Buffy's front walk.

-

Staring at the page, Buffy tried for the umpteenth time to understand poem.

"Why does he insists on comparing this poor girl to weather? Can't he just tell her she's pretty and get it over with? And why am I talking to my self? See, Shakespeare! You drive people to insanity!"

The doorbell rang. Buffy gave an immediate mental thanks to whoever it was at her door. Suddenly, the phone rang.

-

Faith stood on the porch, waiting for someone to answer the door.

Glancing at the driveway, she noticed that there was no car. Assuming no one was home, she turned to leave only to come face to face with a vampire.

"Shit!" she exclaimed, ducking as the vamp swung a right hook at her.

-

"Hey, Will, lemme call you back, eoneeone's at the door."

Buffy hung up the phone and headed for the front door. Upon opening it, to her excitement, she found Faith, however, she was engaged in a brawl with a member of the undead family. Buffy lunged at the vamp.

"What you do door to door shows, now?"

"Very--oof--funny," responded Faith, taking a blow to the stomach.

Buffy managed to give the vamp a couple of roundhouse kicks to the head before he flung her into the flowerbed. Faith delivered a combination of punches to the vamp's face until he sent her flailing into the flowerbed as well. He turned to move in on his prey. Buffy reached into the flowerbed, pulling out a small wooden planting stake. She glanced at Faith, who nodded, then dove for the vamp's feet, sending him to the ground. Buffy leapt on top of him, driving the stake into his non-beating heart and reducing him to dust.

"Well, that's always a refreshing homework break."

"Yeah. If I had homework to break from, I'm sure I'd feel the same," Faith retorted.

Buffy offered Faith her hand to help her up. Faith took it and rose to her feet. Buffy noticed that Faith's arm was hurting.

"Hey, are you all right?"

"Yeah. Sure. Owww."

"You sound like a perfect picture of health. That was sarcasm."

"I'll be fine, really," Faith protested, already melting under Buffy's compassion.

"Come on inside for a minute at least. I mean, you came here for something anyway, right? Or were you really planning to slay on my doorstep?"

Buffy hoped she was there for more than just a front yard slayage demonstration.

"I was actually coming to talk to you," she said, wanting to run, far, fast, away and not face whatever potential rejection was headed her way.

They went in the house, making sure to shut the door behind them as to avoid inviting in any unwanted guests.

Buffy led Faith into the kitchen.

"Let me get you some ice or something."

"Do you have any of those little chocolate covered doughnuts?"

"As a matter of fact..."

Buffy opened a cupboard and withdrew a box of little chocolate covered doughnuts. Faith brightened a bit.

"A woman after my own heart," she though to herself.

She took off her jacket, revealing a red and swollen shoulder.

"Oh wow, that's gotta smart. Do you want some ice for that?" asked Buffy, her voice laced with concern.

"Yeah, that'd be a good thing, actually."

Buffy presented Faith with a towel full of ice.

"I guess he tossed you pretty hard, huh?"

"He did. But it was already sore from last ni--" Faith stopped, not wanting to make Buffy feel bad about the night before.

"_I_ did that? Oh wow, I'm sorry."

"Hey, no biggie, you we're trying to do what you had to do. I'm the stupid one."

"You're not stupid. She had us all fooled."

It pained Buffy to see Faith being so hard on herself.

"Yeah, well..." Faith fumbled with the box of doughnuts.

Buffy felt the immediate need of a subject change.

"We have fried chicken. Do you want some fried chicken? You know slaying... makes you hungry and hor-- uh, well... chicken?"

Faith smiled. She also could feel her ears burning.

"I could use some chicken."

"Good."

Buffy busied herself with the chicken while Faith absently chewed on a little chocolate covered doughnut. Then she remembered why she was there.

"Buffy?"

"Yeah?"

"About before... when you said that I could trust you..." she paused, tired of being tough, tired of being one sided, tired of playing emotionless slayer girl, "...thanks."

Buffy turned to look at Faith, "No problem."

"And I'm sorry I blew you off like I did. I haven't had a lot of experience with trust."

"I know what you mean. I've had bad trust experiences myself."

They were quiet for a moment, just looking at each other, studying each other, as if each was trying to figure the other out.

Faith spoke up, "Hey, I don't wanna keep you from the homework stuff."

She began to stand. Buffy motioned for her to sit back down.

"No, please... stay... eat." She set the plate of chicken in front of Faith.

"All right, all right..."

"Besides, I'm not getting anywhere with this assignment, anyway."

"What is it?"

"A poem. Or sonnet. One of those. Something that makes no sense whatsoever, but people think it's great."

"Ah."

Buffy grabbed her English book up off the kitchen table and set it on the counter next to Faith.

"That's the guilty party, right there," she muttered, pointing to the page.

"Oh! Shakespeare!"

"So, you've heard of him."

"Hey, Billy boy is awesome!"

"You... read Shakespeare?"

"Read it? No. Breathe it, live it, feel it... yes."

"So... the rough and tough slayer from Southie does literature."

'Yeah, well, gotta have an alter ego."

"Okay, Miss Literary Genius, let's have it. What's this thing about?"

"Oh, so you want me to do your homework _for_ you," Faith said, eyebrows raised, though she knew it was one of many things she knew she'd do for Buffy.

"Okay, don't think of it as _for_ me, but _with_ me."

Faith could feel herself blushing again as she suddenly had a thought of other things she'd like to do _with_ Buffy.

"Uh, okay," she began, "It's really best to take this stuff line by line... _Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?_"

She glanced at Buffy.

"See, I'm just getting nothing from that."

"All right let's skip the line-by-line and cut to the chase."

"Good thinking."

"He's saying that she's beautiful and that her beauty will never fade."

"So, she's hot."

"Right. But it's more than that. It's more about the fact that he finds her to be so beautiful, that he can't compare her to anything..."

They were standing shoulder to shoulder, leaning over the textbook.

"And he keeps trying to compare her to nature and stuff, but it's just not cutting it?"

"Exactly. He can't describe all the little things he loves about her because there's nothing remotely comparable."

Buffy looked up at Faith.

"The little things... like her eyes, the way they mirror her emotions so that no matter how hard she's trying to keep her feelings under wraps, her eyes give her away..."

Faith gazed into Buffy's eyes.

"Or the way she knows to set aside the stupid stuff to take care of the important things..."

"I guess I understand this more than I thought."

"Are we still talking about Shakesmph--"

Faith was silenced by the action Buffy's lips pressing against her own. The kiss was tentative, yet curious, then it broke, mutually.

"I guess not," Faith responded, to her own question.

"Um, wow," muttered Buffy.

"Wow is right."

"I've been wondering what it'd be like to do that."

"You? _I_ was the one who came over here to tell you--" Faith stopped herself.

"To tell me...?"

"That-I'm-falling-for-you," she mumbled quickly.

"For me?"

"You understood that?"

"Must be a sign."

"But what about Angel?"

"What about him? He's been dead to me for a while now and, yeah, it is weird having him back, but things are never gonna go back to the way they were. They can't. Besides, sometimes, you have to move on."

"One other question."

"Shoot."

"Can I kiss you, again?"

"Only if I get a turn."

Faith smiled at Buffy. They found each other's lips again, this time sure of what they wanted. Buffy's arms wrapped around Faith's neck, being careful of her shoulder while Faith slid her arms around the other girl's waist.

The kiss deepened.

The front door opened.

"Oh, my!" exclaimed Joyce, as she entered the kitchen, her arms full of groceries, and spotted her daughter in the arms of another girl.

Buffy and Faith separated themselves in record time.

"Uh... mom.... I can... uh, explain..." Buffy stammered.

"What? There's nothing to explain!

"Mom, please..."

"I wish you had told me before, instead of letting me come home and find out! Now there's not enough to go around!"

"Mom, I... huh?"

Joyce began putting groceries away.

"I told you I was cooking stir-fry tonight. If I had known Faith was coming to dinner, I would have bought more. Fortunately, I think we might have something in the freezer. And what is this chicken? Eating before dinner?"

Faith began laughing hysterically. Joyce glanced at her then at Buffy and then shook her head.

"Teenagers. I'll never understand you. Now give me a hand and help me unload the car."

"Sure thing, Mrs. S," Faith nodded as she headed out to the car.

Buffy began to follow, but Joyce stopped her. Buffy froze.

"And about this kissing in my kitchen thing..."

"Mom, I ca--"

Joyce smiled.

"It's okay. Finding this out is easy compared to the Slayer thing. I'm just glad you've found someone _your_ age. And she's a good kid. I like her."

"Thanks mom."

"Hey, Mrs. S," Faith called out from behind a large armload of groceries, "Where do you want these?"

"On the counter's fine Faith. You like stir-fry?"

-

The three sat down to the dinner table.

"So..." Joyce began, trying to make conversation, "How long have you two been--"

"Not long, Mom," Buffy interjected, "It's a pretty new thing."

"Finally, something important in your life that I actually know about."

"Hey, Mrs. S., it's cool that you're down with this. Most moms would probably freak, major."

"Well, thank you, Faith. I guess I'm learning not to worry too much about the little things these days."

The two slayers exchanged glances at the mention of "little things" and both began to giggle.

Joyce looked at them. "What?"

"Oh, nothing, Mom."

"Just a, uh, little thing," Faith snickered.

They broke into hysterics. Joyce just shook her head and tackled her stir-fry. After their moment of laughter, the girls followed suit and soon, dinner was over. Joyce began to clear the table, but Faith stopped her.

"No way, Mrs. S., you did the food prep, we'll do the clean up," Faith announced, grabbing plates, "C'mon B, I'll wash, you dry."

"Actually, _F_, the dishwasher handles both those jobs quite nicely."

"Okay, then, let's load."

She carried the dishes to the kitchen.

Joyce turned to Buffy, "Did I mention that I like her?"

-

Buffy set her English textbook on her desk. Faith picked up a magazine that was on the floor and flopped down onto the bed.

"Geez, why are people so opposed to nudity," she said, after scanning a few pages.

"Excuse me?"

Buffy sat on the edge of the bed.

"I mean, look, this girl says that her most embarrassing moment was when some guy saw her topless on a dare. I've fought vamps--"

"Sans clothes, I know."

"What about you?" Faith sat up, "Ever done the damage in the buff, Buff?"

"No."

"You should try it sometime. It gets the adrenaline pumping."

"Yours or mine?" Buffy inquired, suggestively, pulling Faith closer.

"I'm thinkin' both," Faith breathed softly, bringing her lips to Buffy's.

Buffy sighed into the kiss, her emotions reeling. This was so much greater than anything she'd ever felt before. Faith's hands maneuvered around the bottom of the other girl's shirt. Buffy repositioned herself on the bed and pushed Faith back onto the pillows.

Faith's wandering hands slipped under Buffy's shirt, running up the sides of her body.

The phone rang, causing them both to jump and separate themselves. Buffy picked it up and cleared her throat.

"Hello? Oh, hey, Willow! I'm sorry, I forgot to call you back, I got busy."

Faith smirked, "Yes, you certainly did."

Buffy punched her playfully in the arm.

"...uh huh... yeah sure, we'll be there... We, being me and Faith... yeah, we're cool now... I'll tell you more later, Will, see you there." Buffy hung up the phone.

"We're goin' out?" Faith asked.

"Yep. For some serious fun. But we have to run a quick patrol."

"All right then. Let' s get it done and get to the fun."

-

The slayer duo crept through the cemetery.

"I'm telling you, B, it's a no-go kinda night."

"I guess you're right. With the glove of Lagos deal over, everyone must be taking a breather."

"Isn't that a little on the bizzaro side, the way that works?"

"What? You mean the way we stake a few vamps here, a few vamps there, then something big goes down, we go, we slay and all is relatively quiet for about a week?"

"Yeah, that."

"You get used to it. I figure it must be something about the Hellmouth. Things are different here."

"I guess." Faith spoke up thoughtfully, "Let me ask you this: Where's Greece?"

"Greece? It's in New Zealand, why?"

Faith looked relieved. "Just checkin'. I could have sworn it was in Europe."

"You know, I used to think the same thing... till I moved here..."

"Okay, since we're talking locations, let's blow this place and go to the Bronze."

"I love the way you think."

-

The Bronze was packed. Willow, Oz, Xander and Cordy sat on couches, discussing the origination of coffee. Willow spotted Faith and Buffy and began waving them down.

"Buffy! Faith! Over here!"

The two girls made their way through the masses and joined their friends. Buffy sat in an armchair, while Faith positioned herself on her elbows on the back of the chair.

"So, 'sup," greeted Faith.

"Just the usual Bronzing," Xander quipped, "Dancing, latte sipping, lounging and pool shooting. Which I think I'd like to do some of. Whaddaya say, Oz?"

"Just shoot it."

Xander and Oz bounded toward the pool tables, with Willow and Cordelia watching them.

"Isn't that the cutest thing?" Cordelia sighed.

"Yeah," agreed Willow.

Buffy and Faith turned to see the boys chalking their cue sticks.

"Yeah... that's... uh, cute.... sure," Buffy replied, raising an eyebrow.

She was having trouble concentrating because Faith had begun massaging her neck and shoulders. Willow and Cordy didn't notice, as they were still gazing at their beloved pool sharks. Buffy closed her eyes, her body wanting to relax and explode at the same time. Faith's touch was soothing but electric.

Faith leaned over and whispered in Buffy's ear, "You seem a little tense, slayer. And I know exactly how to loosen you up."

Buffy suddenly wished they weren't in public. Faith's words had set her off like dynamite. She wanted the other slayer _now_.

Buffy jerked forward, "It's been fun... gotta go do, Fa-, er, homework... and Faith is helping... see you guys later!"

She grabbed Faith's hand and started for the door. Faith just shrugged at Willow and Cordelia, who had no idea what was going on, but were too caught up in watching their "honeys" that they didn't really care.

As soon as they cleared the corner of the Bronze, Buffy ducked into the alley, pinning Faith up against the wall, her arms trapped at her sides. Buffy kissed her, with playful force. Their tongues met, dancing in circles, exploring each other's mouths. Then Buffy broke away.

"YOU..." Buffy looked Faith over, "had better not be starting anything you can't finish."

"Trust me," Faith panted, catching her breath, "I plan to finish."

Their eyes held each other's for a moment, until Buffy noticed that Faith had shifted into slayer mode.

"What's the scoop?" questioned Buffy, under her breath.

"Two vamps, six o'clock. I'll take the one in the dumb hat."

"You got it."

Buffy threw a sidekick behind her, hitting the first vampire square in the stomach. Faith approached the second vamp, who was wearing a ten gallon cowboy hat and boots with spurs.

"Hey, Wild Bill! Nice get up." Faith swung her leg out, knocking him off his feet.

Buffy threw her undead sparring partner into a pile of crates, smashing them into pieces. She grabbed a newly created stake and lunged at him, but he dodged her attempt.

Faith was on top of her vamp, trying to keep him down. "B! Stake!"

Buffy tossed her the stake she had and grabbed another. Faith staked. Buffy staked. Then they were alone with two piles of dust.

Faith rose to her feet. "You really know how to show a girl a good time on a first date."

"I try."

They were both breathing heavily, not from the fighting, but from the slayage after effects on top of their previous desire.

"Your place or mine?" Faith reached for Buffy's hand.

Buffy took Faith's hand and gave it a squeeze, "Yours is closer."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

-

The door to the motel room burst open. Buffy was all over Faith, her hands exploring her newfound love. The stumbled into the room and Faith kicked the door shut. Buffy made a beeline for the bed, but Faith stopped her.

"Wait. I want to do this right."

Buffy looked up into the brown eyes she had so quickly lost herself in. "Yeah...?"

"I've had a lot of problems in the past. You know, with guys or love or whatever. But I realize now that it was because I hadn't found love, yet."

"So... you're saying..?"

"I'm saying that I'm totally falling in love with you."

Buffy was overwhelmed. Angel was the only one who had said that he truly loved her. But the passion and power of her emotions for Faith were way beyond anything she'd ever had for Angel.

"I... uh..." Buffy cleared her throat, "I know what you mean. I've got all this... stuff... feelings... inside, wanting to get out. I guess what I'm trying to say is that... I'm falling in love with you, too."

"That would be a, uh, good thing."

"Yeah, it is."

They stood there, the passion and lust set aside, and embraced in the tenderest of kisses. They pulled apart. Faith slid her jacket off. Before it hit the floor, Buffy pulled her to the bed. Her hands slid under Faith's shirt while Faith's hands worked at undoing Buffy's belt. Buffy pulled Faith's shirt up over her head and tossed it aside. Faith pushed Buffy onto the bed, straddling her waist. She quickly removed Buffy's shirt and pants. Neither girl had ever been with another woman before, but they both knew what the other wanted. Faith leaned down, kissing Buffy's lips, then her cheeks, neck and shoulders. Buffy's hands worked to undo the fly of Faith's pants. When they proved successful, she tugged at them until Faith wriggled out of them, kicking them onto the floor. There was an abundance of flesh on flesh contact, making both girls internally scream with pleasure. They mutually removed the other's undergarments, as they were no longer necessary.

"You are so beautiful," Faith exhaled, kissing Buffy yet again.

Before Buffy could respond, Faith kissed her way down to Buffy's chest. She ran her tongue over one of Buffy's nipples.

"Faith..." Buffy moaned. She moaned even louder when she felt Faith's wet, hot sex pressing against her thigh.

Suddenly, Faith rolled off of Buffy. Strettretched out next to her, placing her hand at the base of the other girl's crotch. She slid two fingers into the velvety folds.

"Unngg... Faith..." Buffy pressed her body into Faith's hand. Faith rolled Buffy onto her side, away from her, and rested her head on Buffy's shoulder.

"You like that, slayer?"

Buffy groaned at the feeling of Faith's breasts pressing into her back, "Oh yeah..."

Faith worked her fingers in and out, her thumb massaging Buffy's clit. She draped a leg over Buffy's legs, rubbing her own raging inferno against the back of Buffy's thigh. Buffy was seeing colors she didn't know existed.

"Faith... mmnnnn... I... I... I'm... almost..."

"It's okay... Just let it go."

Faith increased the rhythm of her fingers and added a third.

Buffy thought she was going to die of pleasure. This was beyond anything she'd ever known. Everything was dizzy, hazy, she was drifting in and out of consciousness.

"Mnnn... FAAAIIIITHH!" Buffy's body tightened.

Faith felt Buffy's desire and it, combined with the friction of Buffy's thigh, was enough to bring her over.

They collapsed in a heap on the bed, exhausted. But, being slayers, they recovered quickly.

Buffy snuggled up next to Faith. "I would like to make the understatement of, 'WOW'."

Faith kissed the top of Buffy's head. "Well, we know have an solution to the 'horny' problem, but I'm still craving little chocolate covered doughnuts."

Buffy smiled, "You have a point." She propped herself up on her elbow, looking Faith in the eyes. "I love you."

"I love you, B."

They kissed.

And after a shower, getting dressed and God knows what else, they went and got little chocolate covered doughnuts.
