Remembrance in Sunlight
He watches the sun rise once more on a city that never sleeps. The prickling sensation at the base of his neck, his internal alarm, warning him to take cover, hide. He steels himself, fights his instincts, and remains in place as the shadows slowly start to recede.
He remembers the first time he crossed the threshold, dared to reach out and claim the sunlight. He remembers the pain, more intense than anything he'd ever felt before. But beyond that, he can remember the feel of skin on skin and the jolt of electricity that ran through his lifeless body.
