Spike’s Passions Part 1:

Spike headed through the cemetery, his precious tape clutched under his duster. After another rousing evening of slaying with Buffy and her groupies, he wanted nothing more than to settle in his crypt and watch his soap.

Of course, the scoobies all made fun of him for watching Passions but he really didn’t care. He liked it. Besides, Xander was the one who taped it for him. Once he’d explained to Xander that Passions was his Star Trek, he got no arguments about recording it.

It was a shame that he couldn’t get cable out to the crypt so he could watch the show daily. He’d been able to get electricity there but there just weren’t any damn cable wires close to the cemetery. But Xander faithfully handed over his week’s worth of episodes every Friday night and Spike looked forward to settling in and watching.

He didn’t think he’d make it through all 5 episodes tonight. For some reason, he was damned tired. Probably all the pig’s blood. It just didn’t give him the boost that a nice warm glass of O Pos could.

Just thinking about human blood was making his stomach growl. Damn. Now he was going to have to eat before he could watch his show. He stomped into the crypt and got the tv and vcr ready to play. He warmed a quick glass of pig’s blood before settling on his bed as the opening music of Passions began.

Spike opened his eyes and took a quick glance at the clock by his bed. It was just past 2 in the morning and he was wide awake. He glanced over at the man sleeping peacefully next to him. His Xander always looked so happy while he was sleeping.

Deciding he didn’t want to wake Xander, Spike slid quietly from the bed and headed to the kitchen. He was thankful that Xander had convinced him to remodel the room after his last check came in from his publisher.

Being a best selling mystery writer had its perks. One was the large checks he received when one of his books hit the best seller list. He currently had two on the list and his third was due out next month. Spike didn’t doubt that it would join the others. He was at the top of his game.

He prepared a cup of cocoa from his favorite mix that Xander always made sure was on hand. Spike was thankful that Xander had agreed to move in with him, even though his family was scandalized by their gay son. Xander said he didn’t care what anyone thought but Spike knew that he was bothered by their rejection.

None of Xander’s friends approved of their relationship either. It was ridiculous really. Why would they object to him living the life of luxury with Spike? He didn’t understand their concerns.

Xander was here with him though and that’s all that mattered. Spike sipped his cocoa and wondered if he should head out to his studio to start writing his next book. His publisher was already after him to pump out another one.

It never ended. Once you were in demand, they hounded you until you produced. But the money was good and Spike was doing what he loved so he let them pester him. He was ready to just go curl back in bed with Xander when a tap at the window drew his attention.

Spike couldn’t keep the quick smile from his face when he saw his visitor. He opened the back door quietly and a soft hand pulled him outside. Soft lips met his and Spike didn’t resist as he was drawn into a passionate kiss.

He backed away after a moment and looked over his shoulder to make sure Xander wasn’t around. He looked back at his visitor. “I thought I told you not to come here.”

Willow looked up at him innocently. “I had to see you. Spike, I need you. Can’t you sneak away for just an hour or two.”

Spike looked back over his shoulder again before looking at the young woman standing before him. “We’ll have to make it quick.” Then he pulled her to him again and kissed her breathless before leading her out to the studio.

Neither saw the small eyes watching them from behind a tree.

Xander woke up early the next morning and immediately reached for Spike. He wasn’t surprised that his boyfriend was gone already. Xander knew that Spike would be out at the studio, working on his next book.

With a sigh, Xander rose and prepared himself for his day. It was frustrating being in love with a writer. Spike wasn’t the only person affected by his erratic schedule. For once, Xander would like to wake up with the man he loved and not alone in their bed.

He pushed his negative thoughts aside though. Everyone else had enough negative things to say about his relationship and Xander refused to add to them. Spike loved him and that’s all that mattered. He would get used to the weird schedule and the general moodiness that came with loving him.

Besides, Xander had breakfast plans of his own this morning. He was meeting Ethan and Buffy for breakfast at Ethan’s family restaurant. Xander stared at his closet before pulling out dress pants, a nice shirt and a tie. Even for breakfast at the Crane’s, you had to be dressed to impress.

After being Ethan’s best friend for nearly all of their lives, Xander was used to the restrictions. Ethan’s family demanded that he be proper at all times and those rules often extended to his friends. Xander didn’t mind, though, because having a best friend like Ethan was worth the hassle.

Xander jotted a quick note to Spike before grabbing his keys and heading out. He cast a quick glance towards the studio but didn’t see any lights on. Spike had probably stayed up late writing and was now sleeping.

*************************************************************
Ethan and Buffy were sitting at a private table near the back of the restaurant. They both shared blonde good looks and drew many glances from the other customers. Everyone here knew that Ethan was a Crane. And in Harmony, being a Crane meant that you received attention wherever you went.

Ethan ignored him and turned his attention back to Buffy. She was still going on about Xander and Spike. “Buffy, there’s nothing we can do. Xander has made his choice. We just have to support him and be his friend.”

Buffy glared at Ethan. “You don’t understand, Ethan. I know that Spike will hurt him. I just want to keep him safe.”

“Buf, you can’t keep him safe. Xander loves Spike, and I hope that it doesn’t bring him pain but there’s nothing we can do to change who he loves. Now, here he comes. Get a smile on that beautiful face of yours.”

Buffy pasted on a smile but as soon as she turned to watch Xander approaching the smile turned to a real one. She couldn’t help it. There was something about being around Xander that just made everyone happy. No matter how bad a mood she was in, a few minutes with Xander had her perked back up and ready to face the world.

Xander stopped and planted a quick kiss on Buffy’s cheek before giving Ethan’s shoulder a squeeze. “Good morning, you two. Sorry I’m late. What did I miss?”

Ethan smiled at Xander as he took his seat at their table. “Oh, nothing much. Just Buffy lamenting over her latest conquest.”

Buffy and Xander both laughed. “I was simply telling him that there just weren’t any good men left in town. It isn’t fair, I tell you.”

Xander shook his head at her antics. “Well, Buf, if you hadn’t dated every man within a 10 mile radius of Harmony, I would try to disagree with you. But I’m afraid you’ve already used up all the guys around here.”

Buffy pretended to pout but knew he was right. “It’s not my fault that you two are taken. I mean, really, what’s a girl to do when her best friends are the best guys in town.”

Ethan laughed and raised her hand to his lips for a quick kiss before sitting it back down on the table. The three chatted for a while before a young waitress approached. “Good Morning, Mr. Crane. Good Morning, Mr. Harris, Ms. Summers.”

Ethan acknowledged her greeting. “Good morning, Theresa. We’d like our usual, please. And ask the chef to make sure Xander’s eggs are well done this time. You know how he likes them.”

“Yes, Mr. Crane. I’ll put the order in immediately and pass the message along to the chef personally. Can I get you anything else?”

All three shook their heads in the negative and returned to their conversation. Only Xander noticed the fleeting look of longing that passed over Theresa’s face as she glanced at Ethan. He wondered why the look caused his stomach to tighten but decided to ignore it and turned his attention back to his friends.

Tabitha was furious. Willow had gone out again without permission. The young witch would not be able to remain as her apprentice if her behavior continued. Tabitha looked over at Tara, studiously working the spell they were supposed to master today. If only Willow were as dedicated to her craft as Tara.

Tabitha looked over at the door as Timmy entered. Her little doll turned boy was just perfect. He gestured her over and from the look in his eyes, Tabitha knew this was going to be good.

*****************************************************************
Spike jerked awake and looked around his crypt. He wanted to make sure Xander hadn’t found out about Willow. And WHAT? Spike shook his head to clear it. It was a dream. It was only a dream. And why the hell was he with Xander in the dream? Spike shook his head again. Weird. He hit rewind on his tape and started it over. He must have been more tired than he first thought.

As the music from Passions started again, Spike couldn’t help but wonder if Tabitha was going to find out about dream Spike and Willow. And what if she told Xander?
