Dealing with Devils

The third night approaches and I am once again found at Marty’s house sitting and watching TV.

“So where we going tonight then?” He asks me as he sits up from the lying position on the bed.

“I think we got all of Tamworth covered, might need to move to Brum, heard there has been a lot going on over there, few of the hunters have moved.” I reply.

I stand up and start to walk around the room a little.

“What about the V’s?” Marty asks me whilst picking at the nail on his middle finger.

“One night cant do much damage… more damage is gonna be done if we don’t go.”

Marty gets up off the bed and walks towards the large blue wardrobe in the corner of the room.

“Food?” He asks taking out a large jar full of what looks like tobacco, I know it isn’t but I guess if his mom found it then it would look rather suspicious.

I nod as he takes a handful of the stuff out the jar and drops it on a large plate. I walk over and run my hand over the plate without touching it, when my hand is removed the pile of dust and leafs, is replaced with a huge pepperoni pizza.

An hour later Marty and me are walking through my front door. Izzy greets us as we walk into the living room.

“Hey Iz, just come by to grab some shit then we will be off.” I say striding towards the large window seat. I remove the cushions and lift up the lid to the seat to reveal a large sports bag. I pull it out and slip it on my shoulder. “You ready?” I ask Marty.

He nods and I take his hand, the blue light starts to swirl all around us both, encasing us in a sort of tornado of the light just before my feet leave the ground I hear Izzy shout, “Be careful!”

We arrive in much the usual spot; the dark, dank graveyard on a wet night, shadows playing tricks on the eyes and the mind. As usual I am on full alert.

The night goes much as I expected, not a lot of V’s they don’t tend to come out this time of the month, stay inside for a few days otherwise they would have a tough fight on their hands.

We walk through cemetery after cemetery talking in hushed tones.

“So are you looking forward to the old school room?” Marty asks with raised eyebrows, I know why he is doing this, I am never going to get a proper job or ever use these new things I am gonna learn but I got nothing else to do in the day so why the hell not?

“You’re just pissed ‘cause you’re gonna miss me.” I say with a smirk.

He rolls his eyes at me.

I hold my hand up signalling for him to stand still and be quiet. With a loud rustle from some near by bushes I am confronted by a large Vampire wearing what I can only describe as ye oldie English clothes, you know the kind… dark with tights and a weird short jacket thing, Elizabethan I think.

“Mmm nice little snack for Freddie, Freddie has been a good boy.” Okay I am guessing this one has been underground for a long time, referring to himself in the third person. He has a kind of weird creepy sneer to his voice.

I look over at Marty who has found himself a nice seat upon a large rock.

“I aint a snack Freddie boy, I’m a three course meal!” I say smirking at the V who seems to be a little shorter than me but slightly stockier.

With that he flies towards me and I trip him easily. He scrambles to his feet and launches at me again, this time leaping in the air. I move aside and he crashes head first into the ground.

“So how is it going with Dale?” I ask Marty, craning my neck to look at him.

“Don’t even ask… Block.” He says the last in his lazy helpful sort of way. I obey him as soon as it comes out of his mouth, throwing my arm in front of my face blocking the punch from the V.

With this Freddie decides to try a full out attack of punches, which I block. “You finished with him didn’t you?” I ask Marty. I manoeuvre the V around so that his back is to Marty, so that I can see him when I speak again. “You did didn’t you?”

“Yeah.” Is all the answer I get.

“But I thought you liked him, I know I did… he seemed really nice.” I grab the V’s arms and bring my knee up between his legs. He starts flailing around on the floor groaning in pain.

I walk slowly over to Marty.

“He didn’t like how much time I spend with you.” Marty answers looking at the floor.

“With me?! Does he not realise you’re gay?!” I answer with a gasp.

“Well yeah but he didn’t see it that way, I mean I don’t know if it is because he thinks I like you…” with that I let out a large laugh, Marty joins me. “…or because I wouldn’t have as much time for him that he wanted, I don’t know I just got this weird vibe off him anyway so I finished it.”

I stand up to full height and turn the point of the wooden object in my hand to face behind me, I thrust my arm back in a sharp motion and turn around just in time to see the dust settle on the floor and over my sleeve.

“Oh my god! I cannot believe this, I’ve had this jacket for what…” I look down at my watch. “…Nine hours and it’s already covered in shit!”
