Chapter 1 She Awakes
Two vampires were playing a game of cards in the doorway to a small hospital room.
One of the demons yelled out in victory, “Yes twenty-one I win.”
The other vamp threw his cards down, “This is stupid why do we even have to watch her? She’s never going to get up,” he said pointing a finger into the room where a girl was laying on the bed.
The other one shrugged, “I don’t know, but if we don’t I do know the mayor will kill us, and quite frankly that’s all I need to know.”
They went back to their game of black jack until they heard a small sound come from the room behind them. One of the vamps jumped up and ran into the room.
The other one stayed there fiddling with a card until he heard, “HOLY SHIT,” from the other room.
He ran into the room, and was surprised to see the girl pulling herself off the bed. He ran up and steadied her so she wouldn’t fall.
She gave him a look, which he ignored, “Hello. My name is Jacob.”
She rolled her eyes at him, “Okay Mr. Whatever just shut up by the way my name is Faith , and let me go. I need to get to Graduation.”
Jacob gulped, “You see that is what I would like to talk to you about. The Mayor informed me that you may ask that and preferred if I sent you to him straight away.”
Faith just stood there for a second. When he didn’t do anything she rolled her eyes again, “It’s not like I know where he is.”
“Oh... Right sorry,” He said, and ushered her out of the room. She followed him a little wobbly, but able to stay upright.
He led her to an elevator and they both rode it up as high as it could go which took a minute itself. The doors slid open with a metallic thump as they hit the sides.
Jacob stepped out and motioned for Faith to do the same thing. She stepped out into a room that had tapestries adorning the wall. She walked forward and came to stop in front of another door that opened when she reached it.
She looked confused but went inside anyway. There on the far end of the room was a worm like demon that made Faith go into a defensive position.
The worm turned its head to her , and it shifted into the mayor’s form. He held out his arms to her, “Hey Firecracker. I’m glad to see you awake.”
Faith’s eyes widened, and she asked, “How did you do that?”
“Ah... The shifting. I used to have to be that demon the entire time, but a warlock I paid was able to find a way I could change into this form. I find it so much easier to torture people when I am their size.”
Faith nodded confused about what was going on, “So you won?”
The mayor smiled at her, “Yes in fact that’s a funny story. You see that blonde slayer. Buffy was trying to lead me to the library where they were going to for lack of a better word blow me up. But you see she tripped when I broke one of the walls down on a piece of rubble, and from there it was easy.”
“So... So B’s dead?” Faith asked surprised at how concerned she was for the blond.
“Oh heavens no,” the mayor said waving his hand like it was an absurd statement.
“Oh...” Faith said not knowing why she was relieved.
“If you want we can go meet her,” he looked at his watch, “I’m going to see her in about an hour. How would you like to come along with me to see her?” he asked.
Faith shrugged like it was no big deal, “Sure.”
The mayor smiled and came forth to wrap her in a hug, “I am so happy that you came back my Faithy.”
Faith felt ackward in the hug but didn’t want to hurt his feelings so she didn’t break it early.
He backed away and thought for a second, “Wanna get some actual food.”
Faith’s face broke out in a smile.
Faith, and the Mayor were sitting in a limo on their way to meet Buffy, “So it seems like you got it good in here. But what about the others; Red, G-man, and all them?” Faith asked.
“Well Mr. Harris died in the battle, as did Angel. Mrs. Rosenburg, and Mr. Giles were able to get away. I believe they are in Cleveland, and are part of the resistance.”
“The resistance?”
“The humans that are alive. You see we have much of the western United States. The humans have the eastern. The only reason the humans are still alive is because of a military group called the Initiative that was able to get the word out about vampires, and more importantly made people believe in them.”
The limo stopped at a building Faith recognized as the High school. A vampire came to their side and opened the door for them.
When they stepped out they quickly walked to the entrance. A vamp guard asked for confirmation and the mayor handed him a small card. The guard gave a quick look, and waved them through.
They walked through the hallway that was lined with guards until the mayor stopped them at a door. He opened it and they stepped down the staircase into what Faith guessed was the basement.
Another twenty or so guards were guarding a door. The mayor led them straight through to the door, “So you want to see Buffy?” Faith nodded, “Okay then.”
He opened the door, and Faith was shocked when she heard a scream erupt from the room.
The mayor smiled, “Sorry it’s soundproof so you never know what you will walk in on.”
They walked farther in and Faith heard another scream followed by a loud whimper. They walked into a small circular room.
On the walls were many different knifes that varied in size and shape, and many other things Faith didn’t want to know. In the middle was a platform that was raised to about waist level.
On it was a petite girl who had blonde hair. She was completely stripped, and had all sorts of wounds on her. Some were just bruises, but there were burns, punctures, and cuts as well.
The hair fell out from around the girl’s face, “B?” Faith whispered.
A/N: So what do you think? Just something that came to me in my sleep.
