Disclaimer:
I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS) or Angel, the Series (AtS); nor any of the characters from them. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
I'm Here For You
Couldn't resist a little happy fluff. Of course I own nothing. Joss and Co own it all. Fine. Take it.
I’m Here For You
by Mel
The guards waved the figure by, several of them prepared to duck and run with the anger pouring from the aura around her. She was an epitome of female fury, trapped in a petite frame that was deceptively fragile in appearance. This was not the case and the only true clue to her abilities rested in her eyes. Hazel orbs that spoke of knowledge and power, and were supremely pissed off.
Nothing in her wake was spared. The button for the elevator was depressed into the granite wall. The carpet in the elevator shaft was worn through from her furious pacing. Even the doors were slightly bent from her rapid departure into the Wolfgram & Hart building high up in the sky. A law firm of supreme evil that was no more daunting than Trick had been. And that particular vampire had been dead a good long time.
Long, blond curls shifting with her head, eyes narrowed, she allowed her senses to guide her. She pinpointed every demon in the vicinity and shifted her focus to what her spider senses told her vampire. Five. Three on the landing looking down with trepadation, no doubt sensing her rather distinctive presence, one behind a desk wrestling with a phone, and one in an office a hundred paces away.
Squaring her shoulders, she started for the office. Fifty paces down, the vampire behind the desk pushed herself out to stop her. Pausing only long enough to point the sword at her side at her opponent,” Move it or die, Harmony...I don’t care which.”
The blond vampiress made a hasty retreat and she refocused on the door. She could hear heated words from within, one of them from an ex-lover and the other two she didn’t know. Reminding herself that she didn’t care, she lifted her leg and kicked the door open. The twin pieces of wood burst off their hinges and lay on the floor in a heap. Shaking her head as she entered through the hole she’d made,” They don’t make doors like they used to.”
The three males from within were staring at her in shock. Particularly the brunette in the center. His mouth opened and closed a couple of times, obviously not sure what to say or even where to begin. She gave him a condescending smile,” I’ll start...Angel?”
“ BUFFY?!”

Buffy Summers, the most notorious vampire slayer in the world was standing in his office and the brunette vampire was at a loss for words. Not just that she was here, since the last time he’d seen her had been Sunnydale. And as far as he knew she was in Italy. No, it was the way she was here. They had been star-crossed lovers once. Their love was anguished and failed from the beginning but she’d always been a child-woman to him. This person before him was a woman, strong and hard and every bit his superior.
“ Yep. Me. Now...” With each word she moved the sword in her hand just a bit, using it almost as a prop for gesturing,” do you want to tell me what in the hell is going on.” Holding up her hand,” Before you can even start with the five minutes of explanations to put you up to speed, I’ll sum up...” Pacing, getting her mind going,” So, I’m in my villa, reading the papers which is a bitch if I’m trying to read anything but the funnies and listening to the radio. I turn it down and here whispers in the background. Being the snooping slayer that I am, I ease over to the balcony and listen to Andrew describing to Giles his mission. Imagine my shock when the dweeb starts talking about Spike and my ex-watcher is quick to shut him up about him.” Standing still, fire in her eyes and her voice hard,” Now, when in the hell were you going to let me in on this?” The souled avenger opens his mouth but no words come out. He had never counted on Buffy finding out. Or that her reaction would be so strong. Her voice nearly growling,” Where is he?”
“ Boss, lines two through five are for you, Gunn, you’ve got some clients in your office, Wes, demonology wants a word and Spike’s pestering Fred in her lab downstairs.”
Eyes flashing at the thought of the blond vampire, a known flirt, near another woman sends Buffy’s jealous meter to Defcon 1. Emmenent meltdown is foreseeable as she stalks out, with her sword. The three men look at one another and scatter out of the office, calling to Harmony to handle it. The blond vampiress growls and heads for her phones,” Men are such babies!”

“ Ow! Owww! You’re taking the bloody skin off, slayer!” Buffy only stopped long enough to smack him upside the head, reaffirming her hold on his ear and dragging him towards the nearest vacant office. Seeing none and her temper at the breaking point, she kicks open the nearest door and sends the occupant a death-like stare. Smart, he quickly vacates until it’s just the two of them.
Nothing is said for several heartbeats as the fiery blond struggles with her anger, taking deep breaths so she doesn’t manage to kill the one of two reasons for her happiness left in the world. When her keen hearing detects an almost inaudible whimper she quickly releases his ear, horrified to see the hurt in his eyes though he’s quick to turn in the hopes that she hadn’t seen that. But she did and she carefully catches his chin, examining his reddened ear.
It’s just a bit swollen, looking like someone had boxed it, but nothing damaging. Pain wasn’t a big worry, at least physical. He could walk away with broken bones and bitch more about the condition his precious coat was left in than in himself, but emotional wounds cut deep. He was wounded because he trusted her not to hurt him, not to treat him as she once had a seeming lifetime ago. Which was reflected in the way he called her. Slayer. Obviously his tough Spike persona was thrust in front to cloak him.
Gently she cupped both sides of his face, closing her eyes and leaning forward to touch foreheads as she sighed. It had to be a dream. A hundred times she’d imagined this, though maybe not with the pout he’d been sporting,” Buffy?”
“ Hmm?”
Spike licked his suddenly dry lips, not altogether certain what to do. He’d stayed away to let her live her life, but damn if she didn’t track him down anyway,” Why are you here?”
She pulled back, more than ready to slap him around again but restraining the impulse and trying to maintain control over herself. From his perspective she supposed it was a valid question. For years he’d been denied the love he’d been seeking. Positions reversed she’d go into this expecting nothing but more rebukes,” I came to bring you home.”
“ Oh.” The blond vampire looked down for a moment, then eyed the sword with trepidation before meeting her squarely,” Finish the job Rupert tried?”
Squinting at him,” What?!”
Shrugging, glancing at his shoes,” Figured since your lot left me with Wolfgram after the whole slayer-detaching-my-hands-a-bit-at-a-time-thing this is where you wanted me...”
Her mouth opened but no words came out. She was completely gob-smacked, to borrow a term. She spun around in a circle, as if about to leave and changing her mind. Lips pursed, she let her hands shift over him, checking said limbs and ribs, anything her hands could touch before he squirmed away from her probing fingers. She snagged his coat and tugged him back, devouring his mouth with her own before either of them could say a word. They lost themselves to the familiarity of one another and the heat generated between the two of them.
Her hands moved from around his neck, down his rib cage and below the waist. But before he could object to random sex she did the exact opposite, running her hands into his back pockets and giving his gorgeous ass a squeeze. She continued to plunder the inner workings of his mouth while kneading the twin globes and Spike actually felt his eyes roll back.
She pulled back, panting against his lips and giving him another squeeze,” Come home with me.”
Nibbling the lower part of his lip, eyes pleading with her to finish,” Why are you here?”
She knew what he was doing now. He’d replayed their reunion in his mind as well, and she still had some lines left to be said. Smiling and reaching up, she grabbed a handful of hair and gently tugged him to his knees. He went willingly, waiting,” I came to tell you something...you’re not a substitute for anyone. And you’re not nothing. You are the reason that I still fight and you’re the reason that I’m still on this miserable globe. You said you saved me every night, just not when it counted. Well, I’m here to say that you did save me every night, and every time it counted. And I didn’t lie.”
He frowned and tilted his head,” Lie?”
“ Everything I said in that cave was true. I was ready to fight and die. And I didn’t want to leave you behind...” Spike seemingly held his unneeded breath and she smiled sweetly,” And I really do love you, you jackass.” He grabbed for her and peppered her face with cool, loving kisses. And in between she managed to gasp out,” I love you...William...you ask me...why I’m here...well...it’s time to go...home...I’m here for you...”
