"Wesley doesn’t need you right now; we don’t need you. You walked away, now do us a favor and just stay away," Cordelia told him, her heart breaking a bit more at the sight of him.

She stopped herself from letting her eyes linger on him as she walked past him, back into the hospital room. She could feel his eyes on her, on them, as she entered the room and walked up to a newly awoken Wesley. Only after seeing that Welsey was feeling alright did she let herself look back up, just in time to see him walking away.

Hugging her knees, Cordelia berated herself for crying over him again. "He’s gone, for good. He made the choice, *he* fired *us*! Just forget about him and move on with your life. You do not need him!"

In spite of herself, the tears still fell from her eyes and she hugged her knees tighter. Sniffling a small, "Thank you Denis," as he handed her tissues and wrapped a blanket around her shoulders as she continued crying into her knees.

***

"Here’s the book, now get out," Cordelia said, shoving the book against him.

"Thank you," he said emotionlessly and then turned around, again. He walked out of their new offices and slammed the door. Taking a deep breath, Cordy made sure that the tears wouldn’t fall.

***

"I knew it would happen; I knew it wouldn’t last. He’s just a big, stupid, jerk," Cordy cried, sobbing into her knees again. "How could I be such a fool? How could I think that just because he came to the hospital for Wesley that he wanted us back...wanted *me* back?"

Denis did his best to help her, giving her more tissues and wrapping a blanket around her again. He couldn’t do anything else for her; he couldn’t mend her broken heart.

"Let me get this straight, you looked me in the eye and lied to me. You said that you would *never* do a thing like that," Cordy asked in disbelief.

"I...," Angel turned his head, not looking at her.

"What surprise, he lied," Darla sneared from her position in front of them.

***

"I trusted him, I thought he changed. He was good again and we were all happy.... we were happy. But he slept with her, he slept with Darla," Cordelia told her knees. She didn’t cry; there were no more tears left.

***

"Angel... I-," Cordelia started, she had to tell him.

"It’s okay Cordelia, you’re right. I’m sorry I lied to you, I never should have," Angel said, thinking that he knew what she was going to say. Then he turned around and walked into the back office, leaving her there alone.

"I love you," she whispered to his back as the office door shut.
