“She’s no longer incarcerated here.” The words rang repeatedly in Wesley’s head. He frowned and slumped down in the driver’s seat of his SUV, absently chewing at his knuckles.

She’d been their last hope in capturing Angelus. He sighed as he thought of how he’d explain the situation when he got back to the hotel. He assured everyone he’d come back with help, with Faith.

And now he was returning empty handed.

“Another failure.” He grumbled as he drove down the dark LA streets.

Something to his right caught his attention and he looked in that direction, seeing what looked to be three vampires attacking a female. She seemed to be holding her own, but if he didn’t stop to help, his conscience would nag at him the rest of the night.

He pulled over and ran to the group, managing to stake one of the vampires easily as he was caught off guard.

The girl turned to face him and pointed to the extra stake he had in his pocket. “Mind if I borrow that?” she asked. She didn’t wait for an answer, she just grabbed it and turned to the advancing vampire, plunging the stake into its chest.

In one fluid motion, she pulled the stake from the first vamp’s chest and thrust it into the second. Once it exploded into dust, the womigheighed and turned to face him again. She twirled the stake around her fingers a bit and tossed it back to him.

“Thanks.” She smiled.

Wesley stared at her in amazement and shock. “Faith?” he asked, voice showing his disbelief.

Faith narrowed her eyes and looked at the man in front of her, trying to get a better look. “Wes…??” she asked, voice soft, but more shocked than his.

“Where the hell did you come from?” she asked, folding her arms over her chest.

He shook his head, hiding the smile that was slowly making its way across his face. “I- looking for you actually.”

Faith shrugged and sighed. “Well, y’found me. Why?”

He looked her over, she looked tired, weary.

“Are you alright?” he asked, ignoring her question. He reached a hand out to her shoulder.

She jerked away. “I’m fine. What do you want?”

Wesley sighed. “First, I want to you to get into the car… you’re not fine. I’ll explain everything on the way.”

Faith rolled her eyes and scoffed. “Wes, just… stop with the caring nurturer act, alright? Tell me what the fuck is goin’ on.”

“I’ll tell you once you get in car.” He challenged.

Sheod tod there and stared at him, not moving. He sighed, knowing she wouldn’t move unless he at least said something.

“For starters, Angelus is back… and he’s loose.”

Faith’s eyes widened and she shook her head, running a frustrated hand through her hair. “Lead the way.” She said reluctantly.

Wesley drove her back to his apartment, explaining everything along the way. Connor, Holtz, The Beast, Angelus… everything.

“It’s a lot to take in, I know. Am I going too fast?” he asked as he parked his car outside his apartment.

She looked at him and shook her head. “N-no, I’m good.” She looked out at the apartment then back at him. “Where are we?”

He opened his door and stepped out. “My apartment. You need to have those cuts looked at.”

She got out and followed him. “Couldn’t have that done at the hotel?” she asked.

He shook his head, smiling lightly. “It’s too chaotic there. Everyone’s in a frenzied panic, and I doubt you’re in the mood to be bombarded with the fifty questions game from three or four different people.”

She thought a moment and returned the smile, nodding. “How thoughtful of you.”

They made it up into his apartment and he shut the door behind them, motioning to his couch. “Have a seat.”

As she sat down, her hair swung back off her neck, revealing two fresh punctures. Wesley noticed them immediately and walked over to her, placing his hand on her shoulder.

“You were bitten.”

She looked at him strangely for a moment before she remembered what had happened. “Oh, yeah. One of ‘em got me.” She shrugged and looked away.

He looked at her sternly and she could feel his gaze on her. She looked back at him and sighed. “What?? Is ons only a second. It’s not like he had time to even get a God damn taste.” She said defensively.

He sighed and stood, walkintointo the bathroom. She heard him moving around a little and a few minutes later he re emerged with a bowl of warm water and a towel.

He sat down next to her and began to lightly cleanse the bite marks. She sighed and closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of the warm water on her skin.

“It just looks like he scratched you.” Wesley told her, setting the bowl and towel down on the table in front of them.

She nodded. “I told you, it was nothing.”

He looked at her again sternly. “Faith, you were incarcerated for nearly three years. I can’t imagine you were allowed out at night to slay vampires. It’s nothing to be ashamed of if you were hurt during this fight.”

She snorted. “Easy for you to say. You get hurt no matter who or what you fight.” She looked at him slowly, sadly and stuttered. “I- I didn’t meaat.”at.”

He shrugged. “It’s the truth, isn’t it? I always seemed to be the one getting hurt, needing to be saved.”

She looked at huriouriously. “Sounds like things are different now. You’re talking in the past tense.”

He smiled lightly and nodded. “I- things have… changed.”

“After everything that’s happened, did you thing they wouldn’t?” she asked, looking over at him questioningly.

He narrowed his eyes at her in confusion. “Everything that’s happ- who told…”

Faith nodded. “Angel told me about Connor when during one of his visits.” She said softly, looking at the floor for a moment.

They sat there in silence for a while longer, until she took a breath and looked at him again.

“If it helps at all… I beli- I know you did what you did because you thought it was the right thing to do. I’m sorry you had to do it.” She said softly.

He looked up at her thoughtfully and smiled lightly. “You really have changed.”

She shrugged and shook her head. “Eh, I dunno about that-“

He shook his head. “No, really Faith. You’re… different.”

She smiled. “Yeah well, look who’s talking. Gotta say, Wes. This bad boy look really works for ya.” She nodded approvingly.

Suddenly she took another deep breath and chuckled nervously. “Alright, I’m just gonna say this before I completely lose my nerve here.” she looked at him again. “I’m sorry… for not being a better Slayer, for being such a bitch… for what I did to you.” It all came rushing out in one big sentence and she thought she was going to pass out.

He looked at her in surprise. “Faith, I, do you really think now’s a good time to start-“

“It’s as good a time as ever. Look, if I don’t do this now, I’ll probably never get the nerve to do it again. So please, let’s just… let’s just get this done now.”

Wesley nodded. “OK then, it’s my turn. Faith, I’m the one who should be sorry. I… I was dick, alright? I was far too young to be given such a big responsibility, and I knew it. I knew I couldn’t control you or Buffy, but I tried to anyway. If anything, servserved it.”

Faith stared at him, almost ready to slap him. “What?? Wes, I- there’s no excuse for what I did to you. I was horrible… I could’ve killed you.”

Wesley nodded. “And given enough time, you probably would have. But Faith, you didn’t.”

She shook her head. “That’s not the point. It doesn’t mean I didn’t want to. It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have.” She sighed. “God Wes, no one deserves what I did to you.”

“Didn’t I?” he challenged.

She continued to shake her head. “Wes-“

“Faith, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I didn’t help you when it was so painfully obvious you needed it.”

She stared at him and swallowed hard, licking her lips. The movement drew his attention to her mouth and he found himself wanting to touch her lips with his own, to taste her mouth.

He shook the desire away and placed his hand reassuringly on her knee.

“So, what now?” she asked softly.

He looked at her and shook his head. “I-I’m not sure.”

Faith opened her mouth to speak, but stopped and tensed when she felt his hand slowly moving up her jean clad thigh. She glanced down at his hand then back up at him. “Wh-what are you doing?” she asked as he slowly leaned in closer to her.

He shook his head. “I have… no idea really. But I think I’m finally beginning to understand how that thing of yours goes.” He said softly.

His lips got noticibly closer, but she didn’t move to stop him. “What thing?” she asked, voice barely above a whisper.

“Taking what you want?” he went on, lips brushing hers.

She smiled lightly. “Want, take, have.” She answered before he crushed his lips against hers.

At first she was still completely rigid, not sure that this was really happening. But after only a moment she was kissing him back. Her tongue slipped into his mouth, probing and his tongue fenced with hers.

It had been so long since she’d been with anyone, too long really. She’d been out of jail four months now, and hadn’t found a single guy who she thought would satisfy her completely. But here, now, Wesley. This was just… there wasn’t a word to describe it.

She hadn’t been this turned on since, well, ever. And she never thought Wesley, of all people, would be the one to really get her engine revving.

She pulled away, putting her hand on his chest and pushing him back. “No…” she moaned, shaking her head. “This isn- I… wh- have you totally lost it?” she asked.

He smiled at her. “I ask myself that too sometimes.” He breathed before kissing her again. He slid a hand to the back of her neck, holding her against him.

She moaned, struggling against him and kissing him back at the same time. The struggling stopped after only a minute and she slid her hand to the base of his neck, pulling him closer.

His other hand moved from her thigh to her waist, and he pulled her onto his lap. He pushed her jacket from her shoulders and ran his hands along her warm, flushed skin.

She shivered at the touch, nipping his bottom lip and giving it a slight tug.

He kissed her jaw line and neck, careful not to touch the two tiny holes from her previous activity. He bit down on the dip between her neck and shoulder, nard enough to cause pain, but not breaking the skin.

She gasped, grinding herself against him, feeling how hard he was.

His hands grasped her hips and held her against him, causing his already confining jeans to become even more uncomfortable.

“Faith…” he moaned, attacking her lips again. She moaned, pulling back a little and he moved to her neck again.

“Wes,” she hissed, lips parting in a silent gasp and she closed her eyes. “Fuck me… I want you to fuck me.” She said huskily, nipping at his ear.

He kissed her lips once more and pulled back a little. “Are you sure?” he asked, looking into her eyes.

She looked back at him. “Am I sure?” she repeated.

He sighed and shook his head. “I just don’t want you to do anything you’ll regret later.”

She smiled and nodded, unbuttoning his shirt. “It’s been too long. Too fucking long.” She moaned, pushing the shirt off his shoulders and running her hands down his chest. She smiled, “Been working out?”

Her hands slid further down to his pants and she started to unbutton them.

Suddenly he stood with her in his arms and held her tightly as he brought her to his bedroom.

He gently set her on the bed and helped her out of her clothes until she was dressed in only her tank top and panties.

She smiled, hooking a finger in his pants and pulled him toward her. She expertly unbuttoned them, using only one hand and pulled the zipper down with her teeth.

She pulled him on top of her and kissed him hungrily as he reached down and slid her panties off. Then he slowly entered her slick passage, eliciting a moan from deep in her throat.

He gave a moment to adjust before pulling out and quickly plunging back in again. He slid his hands under her top and slowly peeled it off her body, kissing her passionately.

She wrapped her legs around his waist, drawing him deeper and closed her eyes in pleasure. She ran her hands along his back, raking her nails up and down his skin.
He hissed at the sensation. He pulled his lips from hers and kissed her neck and chest, gently running his lips over the collection of scratches she’d accumulated on her body over the years.

She suddenly flipped them over so she was on top and rod him until orgasm ripped through both their bodies, making them cry out in ecstasy.

She cried out his name, but was silenced when he crushed his mouth against hers. She moaned, shivering in the blissful aftermath of her orgasm.

They slowed and he pulled back, brushing a piece of hair from her face. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice soft as he looked at her.

She nodded slowly as she began to breathe normally again and she slid off his waist. “Five by five.”

They kissed again and after a moment, she was scrambling around the room for her clothes.

Wesley wat her her a moment, not bothering to ask her what she was doing. He knew full well what the answer to the question would be. So he too stood and got dressed.

They finished dressing in silence, Faith avoiding his gaze the entire time.

Finally, as they walked out toward har, ar, he broke the silence between them.

“Faith, I-“

She stopped and turned to look at him, eyes sad. “Wes, can we just not? It’s these conversations I avoid by not sticking around afterwards. I fuck up and say the wrong th-“
He shook his head and grabbed her wrist, pulling her to him and kissing her passionately.

At first, she didn’t know how to react, d bed been so surprised. By the time her brain managed to process a thought, he’d pulled back and looked her in the eyes.

“Faith, I know how things have worked for you in the past. ‘Get some, get gone,’ right? Sounds great, yes. But it gets old, fast. Something happened between us up there. Something more than sex, more than just skin.”

She didn’t respond, but didn’t look away.

He sighed. “And I think you know that, you fee it too. That’s why this is so hard for you right now.”

She shrugged, feeling herself hardening up. She couldn’t get soft now, not with Angelus loose in LA. She had to strong, hard, in order to get Angel back. The issue with Wesley would just have to wait.

“We’ll see.” She answered and headed to the car, Wesley close behind.
