The Ghost of Angelus Past
Email: luckyleaf13@yahoo.com
Summery: Angel, Willow and Spike are about to find out first hand that the past always comes back to haunt you.
Disclaimer: As much as I dream of it I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I own Dev, she’s all mine people, and if you want to borrow her for a story ask and I’ll say yes cause I’m nice like that.
Notes: Takes place Angel season 2 before Gunn comes along. Buffy wise, early season 5. I changed some stuff from Buffy seasons 1 and 2 and Angel season 2 (I made some major changes in Buffy season 2). Angel is Spike’s sire in this fic. Angel never killed Darla. He just slapped her around a bit and she left Sunnydale. Since Darla never died Wolfram and Hart didn’t bring her back they are just paying her to screw with Angel’s head. I’m making it so she was with Dru so they are both in LA. I also messed with the season 2 timeline so just go with the flow.
Dedication: To Karen, who I beta for. Thanks for the great feedback, hun!

Chapter 1: The Devil
~~~~~~~~~~
Angel would have fallen over if Willow hadn’t been leaning against him. “What is Spike doing here?” He asked sma small redhead.
“He’s my friend and he needed a break from Sunnydale.” Willow said.
Angel looked at her and was about to protest when he saw the smile on her face as Spike tripped over her bag she had left in the doorway.
“Fine, but I can’t promise I won’t stake him.” He stated firmly.
The girl next to him giggled. “That’s fine considering I can’t promise that either.”
Angel smiled. He was happy to see the little witch. She and his childe had come to LA for a week to take a much-needed vacation from the hellmouth. He’d kept in contact with Willow since he came back to Sunnydale on Thanksgiving. They exchanged emails at least once a week and called at least once a month. It was nice to finally see her again.
“I didn’t realize you two were close.” Angel said.
“Well we weren’t really but ever since…” She trailed off and looked up into his eyes then her face turned the color of her hair and she rubbed wriswrists together. Angel didn’t need to ask why she was embarassed he remembered all to well. Spike walked over at that moment breaking the tense silence.
“Dad! How’s un-life?” Spike asked putting possessive arms around Willow’s waist. Willow immediately recognized the gesture for what it was and sighed.
“Bloody hell.” She murmured peeling her self out of Spike’s arms.
Angel smirked. “You really hang out with him too much.”
“Yeah, well, who do you want her to hang out with, mate? Slutty? Not likely. She’s to busy beating the boys away from her little chit of a sister with a stick to notice Red here. Or maybe Xander? Yeah, right. He’s to busy shagging the demon. The watcher is the only one who even pays attention to the girl, she’s gotta ‘ave someone.” Spike said.
Angel looked at Willow. “This true, Will?”
Willow bit her bottom lip and her eyes watered as she nodded sadly.
“Well, forget them.” Angel stated. “You’re here with me and we’re going to have a blast.”
Willow smiled and hugged her friend. “Thanks Angel.”
After Spike and Willow were settled in to their rooms they joined Angel in the lobby of the Hyperion.
“So Wills, what do you want to do tonight?” Angel asked.
“What is there to do here?” she asked.
“Cordelia suggested I take you to a club.” Angel told her.
“Where is the cheerleader anyway?” Spike asked.
“She went to visit some friends in San Francisco and Wesley went to England to visit family. It’s just the three of us for the week.” Angel said.
“Ok. Well, what club?” Willow asked.
“There’s this place that just opened called Clash. We could check that out.” Angel suggested. His companions agreed so he grabbed Cordy’s directions and led them to the car.
It only took about ten minutes to get there and when they arrived they went inside and found an empty table. Angel was surprised at what he saw. The place looked normal enough to the human eye but any vampire could tell something was up. The place was crawling with vamps but there was an even amount of humans there. No blood was being shed, no unsuspecting humans being led outside to become dinner. They were just there enjoying themselves.
“You see this?” Angel asked Spike quietly.
He nodded. “What’s this?” he asked his sire.
Willow looked at the two vampires then looked around. She saw it almost immediately. Vampires. A lot of them. But there was just as many humans here and they looked to be behaving.
“I don’t understand. Why aren’t they killing anyone?” Willow asked.
“How did you know they were here, pet?” Spike asked.
“That spell I did, remember? The second sight thing.” She explained.
“What?” Angel asked.
“The witch did a spell to help her pick out vamps and other baddies in a crowd.” Spike told him.
“Yeah, so why aren’t they killing?” Will asked again.
“I don’t know.” The older vampire said. “But I want to.”
With that, he got up from the table and walked to the nearest vampire. “What are you doing here?” he asked using his demon to exude age and power to the younger vampire.
The demon looked around then at Angel. “We didn’t know someone already had a claim here.” He said nervously.
“We? You’re a clan?” He asked.
“Yes.”
“Who is your leader?” Angel asked.
“Our Mistress doesn’t come out with us. Her favored does though. I can take you to her.” The demon offered. Angel nd hid his approval and was led to the back of the club where there was a series of couches.
The vampire leaned over and whispered something in an attractive female’s ear then scurried away.
“I am Cassandra. The favorite childe of Mistress Devil. How can I help you?”
“Mistress Devil? Is she the Master of this town?” Angel asked.
“No. She is the Master of this clan. We don’t claim an area as our own. We move often.” The vampire explained. “I suppose you aren’t the Master of this area. Why do you care?”
“That’s not your concern, childe. I wish to see your Master.” He stated.
“That’s not possible. Our Mistress won’t see an outsider.” She stood up and walked past Angel. When she neared the door she lifted her hand in the air and snapped her fingers. Slowly the vampire started to follow, a few at a time so they didn’t draw attention to themselves. Angel returned to the table.
“Come on. We should follow.” Angel said.
“What’s going on? A new Master?” Spike asked.
“Not really. She’s the master of this clan but not of an area. They’re travelers.”
“Alright. Let’s go. Red…” Spike started but Willow cut him off.
“I know go back to the hotel and wait.”
Spike smirked. “We’ll see you there later, pet.”
“Take the car. We don’t need it.” Angel said handing her the keys.
After they saw Willow off they watched the rest of the clan leave the Clash and followed a good distance behind. After about 20 minutes of walking they saw them enter a warehouse. Quietly they approached and Angel pointed up and mouthed the word ‘sky lights.’ Spike nodded and they moved to a ladder attached to the side of the building. It wasn’t a very tall building but in this area of the city most of the warehouses weren’t. When the reached the top they looked into the building and Angel found Cassandra sitting on the floor at the feet of another woman. The woman was idly playing with a strand of Cassandra’s short blonde hair. Angel’s attention was drawn away from the woman as he heard a commotion in another room. He moved to the skylight above the room where all the noise was coming from. He saw two vamps fighting. The skylight was cracked so with there supernatural hearing it was easy to hear everything that went on below them. When the woman stepped into the room everything went so quiet you could’ve heard a pin drop.
“What the hell is going on?” She shouted.
orryorry Mistress.” Both vamps involved said as they bowed their heads in submission.
She pointed to her feet and snapped her fingers. Immediately both vamps were kneeling in front of her.
“You will stay there for the remainder of the night. If you move you’ll have to deal with me. And the rest of you who decided you needn’t stop this, you will all stay in for the night. Anyone leaves don’t bother coming back and if I ever see you again expect the full wrath of the Devil.” With those words she walked away with Cassandra at her heels. She stopped and turned, “Jason. Go cover the skylights now and come in as soon as you’re done.” She walked out of sight and Angel motioned for Spike to follow him. The went down the ladder and started back to the hotel. When they got there they found Willow behind the front counter tapping away at the computer.
“Well?” She asked without looking up.
“They’re holed up in a warehouse on East Temple Street.” Angel said.
“Do you have a plan?” Willow asked.
“Not really.” Angel said.
“Why don’t we just leave them alone? They don’t seem to be any trouble and they’ll probably be moving on soon.” The redhead asked.
“You’re right, but I’m not planning on giving them any trouble unless provoked. I’m just curious.” Angel told her.
“OK.” She said. “Well, I’m going to bed. Wake me when you get up Spike.” She shut down the computer then moved around the counter. She gave Spike a peck on the cheek then moved to Angel.
“I’m glad I’m here.” She hugged him and kissed his cheek then walked up the stairs.
“How can you maintain a plutonic relationship with such an amazing girl?” Angel asked his childe.
“Not easily.” Spike murmured.
“I knew you had a crush on her.” The older vampire stated.
“Yeah well, at least I hide it better than you do, poof.”
“Not likely, and it doesn’t matter if I like her anyway. I can’t do anything about it.”
The two men talked for a while then went their separate ways to get some sleep.
Willow was having the most wonderful dream. Spike and Angel gently caressing her. Not part of her body went untouched by the two handsome vampires. She groaned as the dream faded away. Reality slowly seeped into her foggy mind and she realized something was tickling her nose. She opened her eyes to find Angel leaning over her, a feather from her down pillow in his hand. She smiled then batted his hand away.
“I’m up.” She said.
“Good.” Angel said as he moved the feather down the side of her face the her jaw, she giggled.
“That tickles.”
“I know.” The dark vampire said. He moved the feather under her arm. She laughed and tried to push him away but then she noticed for the first time that her body was firmly pinned beneath his.
Not a bad place to be, she thought.
To her relief Spike walked in to the room with a tray of food causing Angel to roll off of her and lay next to her.
“Dinner is served, pet.” He said.
“Dinner? What time is it?” she asked.
“A little after seven.” Angel informed her as he rose from the bed. “We’re going back to that warehouse but we won’t be long.”
Willow nodded as she inhaled her food and mumbled ‘be careful’ between bites.
Once again the two vampires found themselves perched on the roof of the warehouse peeking in the skylight. Everyone was gathered in the main room. The unidentified woman walked in with Cassandra at her side.
“Go ahead, but stay out of trouble. No hunting. You find someone suitable and feed. Make it quick and only take what you need. You know the rules. Male victims only and above the age of 40 or below the age of 16. Cassandra is staying in tonight so Jack is in charge. Now get out of here.” The vampires started to file out. The woman turned and walked out of the room, Spind And Angel followed as she went through each room, when she got to the last one she sat down on a leather couch. Cassandra curled up next to her. They were in a bedroom. It was the largest room in the building with a beautiful four-poster bed covered in black satin sheets but other than some candles, a dresser, and the two other pieces of furniture the place was bare.
“Are you alright, Mistress?” Cassandra asked.
The woman turned her head toward the other and stroked her hair. “Yes, dearest, I just hate this city and can’t wait to leave.”
Angel moved around the skylight trying to see the woman’s face but she never looked up and the couch was at an angle where he couldn’t see her. There was something about her. She was almost familiar.
“Why don’t we leave tonight Mistress? Why did we come here at all?” Cassandra asked.
“Because I have to talk to her, if she’s here before we can leave. Did you check into those files as I asked?”
“Of course Mistress.”
“Please, enough of this Mistress crap. You know when the others aren’t around you can call me Dev. You’re my favorite Cassandra. You know this.”
“I know, sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing it. I’m just used to calling you Mistress. We don’t get a lot of time alone anymore.” Cassandra said as she snuggled closer to Dev.
“Don’t worry, Luv. When we get out of this damn city maybe you and I will go away for a while. Jack can handle the pack for a few weeks. Now, what did you find out?”
“You’re right, they’re both here.” Cassandra said,
Dev kissed her lightly on the lips. “Thanks.” She got up and walked over to the dresser and looked in the mirror.
“No.” Angel said quietly.
“What, mate?” Spike asked moving to stand beside his sire. “It can’t be.” He whispered as he saw the woman, no girl, standing at the mirror. As if her having a reflection wasn’t shocking enough the girl her self was enough to make Spike bolt for the ladder and away from the building with Angel at his heels.
Willow was sitting in the lobby reading a magazine when the front door flew open and Angel walked past her and up the stairs without so much as a glance in her direction. She watched as Spike walked in and shut the door slowly.
“Spike? What is it?” she asked moving to stand next to him. He just shook his head then walked to the stairs and went up to his room.
Angel sat in his room in the dark trying to process what he’d seen. “It can’t be her.” He murmured over and over again to himself.
