Introduction
This is just great, Dawn thought, Buffy gets to spend the next few months in Europe and I’m stuck here in LA. It wasn’t like she hadn’t helped to save the world. She felt like she deserved some kind of vacation too. Unfortunately this argument hadn’t held any sway with Buffy or Giles. They had both decided that she’d missed too much school already, and really needed to catch up on her studies.
It wasn’t that Dawn didn’t like living with Willow – she’d always been friends with the red-haired witch and enjoyed spending time with her. The only problem was that living with a couple could get kind of boring when you were single. Willow spent half of her time with Kennedy and the rest focusing on her magicks, which didn’t leave an awful lot of time for Dawn to talk to her.
Dawn couldn’t help but think that the worst thing of all was that nothing happened at her new school. There were no hauntings, no demons, and no hellmouth that threatened to swallow the world whole, no matter how much you wanted it to during math. Not that Dawn had been incredibly keen on being monster food every week, but at least she’d been kept on her toes in Sunnydale.
She hadn’t even seen Angel since she’d been in LA. Buffy wouldn’t even give her his phone number. Dawn couldn’t quite understand why, it was probably something to do with the fact that Angel was running an evil law firm now, trying to change it from inside. Dawn could only guess that Buffy wanted to keep her away from evil for now, stop her being corrupted by the forces of evil. Dawn couldn’t help laughing at the thought of that. If seven years growing up on the hellmouth, and being a key to a demon dimension hadn’t corrupted her for good then an evil office block surely couldn’t do any damage.
So this was it, Dawn was stuck in LA, having to start all over again, with no friends and no idea of what to do with herself now that the fight against evil was being taken care of by others.
