The thunder rumbled around the dark sky adding a backing vocal to the sounds of the struggle. The thuds of fists meeting flesh and the ‘oofs’ of feet connecting with intimate areas. The grunts of exertion and the fizt…whoosh of muscle and bone dissolving into dust. The heavy, non-stop downpour adding a never ending snare to the rhythm of the dance.

“Buffy…Duck!”

Faith’s voice was very nearly drowned out by the noise from the heavens, but the blonde heard and instinct took over. The thrown stake whistled over her head. She straightened back up, wet dust coating her face before being washed away in the deluge.

“Thanks.” She called back, jumping onto one of three remaining vampires.

Punch…Kic…Kick…Thrust…Stab…Punch…Block…Kick…Jab…

The fight went on. More dust settled on the soggy ground.

Faith rolled to avoid a sword poking her in the neck and came up-right again behind Buffy.

“My pleasure.” She tossed over her shoulder, her eyes never leaving the vampire who was trying to kill her. “Or at least it will be when you get down on your knees and thank me for saving your life.”

“Is that so?” Buffy grunted out between punches.

Faith’s grin was feral in the heat of the battle. “Hell yeah – And if your real lucky I might get down on my knees and thank you for thanking me.”

Sick of duck and weaving the sword the vampire was wielding, sure if it didn’t stick in her neck soon, it would in Buffy’s who was back to back with her, she through up an arm to block it and lunged forward.

The grass in the cemetery was slippery and her boots slid as if she was on ice, her stake missed its mark and she barrelled into her adversary, taking both herself and the undead to the waterlogged earth.

She cursed her sloppy move, but felt the length of sowoodwood still in her fingers, which was good. Pushing herself up from his chest she worked the stake between their bodies and pushed it into his heart. The guy screamed as he dusted and she fell the last few inches to the ground.

The knees of her jeans were soaked through by the puddles. The matched the rest of her.

Buffy finished hers off with a final pooft and far less theatrics and ran a hand over her head, pushing her wet, straggly hair off of her face.

“You really should take a break from your disturbing dream world, Faith, and spend a little time in reality with the rest of us.” She yanked on her sister-Slayers proffered hand and hauled her to her feet.

Faith deliberately stumbled a little as she hopped up and fell into Buffy. “Oops. Clumsy me.” She smirked as her breasts brushed Buffy’s.

Buffy smiled and stepped away, wiping at her dripping face again.

“Tell me B,” began Faith, getting back on topic. “How is my dream world – which often features your naked body…?” Buffy blushed on cue but it was hidden by the dark and the rain. “…A worse place to be than reality – which often features vampires.” Faith linked her arm through Buffy’s and started pulling her towards the cemetary gates.

Buffy hurried along beside her, sick of feeling cold and wet. “Well I guess it’s good to have a dream Faith.” She said dryly.

Lightening arced across the sky and the tempo of the rain seemed to increase, the two girls upped their pace across the exceedingly marsh like graveyard

“Exactly – or else how are you gonna have a dream come true.” Faith sang back.

“I wouldn’t put money on that one ever coming true.” The blonde warned.

“Really?” Faith chuckled. “’Cause I think it’s a sure thing.”

“Oh yeah, and how’s that work?” Buffy had to hear this.

The reached the main gates and Faith quickly scaled them, perching at the top she looked down at Buffy.

“’Cause you want me girl.” She said playfully. “C’mon you can admit it. I’ve seen the way you look at me after a good Slay, or any Slay for that matter.”

Buffy had joined her at the top and now they both jumped to the other side in unison. The blonde was laughing.

“And how’s that like?”

The could run now they were on pavement and they took off towards town splashing through puddles and kicking up spray.

“Like you wanna cover me in rib sauce and lick it off slowly, nibbling at the meat as you go along.”

“Faith, I really can’t tell if you’re making me hungry or horny.” Buffy was still giggling as they ran.

Faith tripped over her own feet but Buffy shot a hand out and grabbed her sleeve to stop her going down.

“I make you horny?” She asked dubiously.

“Isn’t that what you’ve been trying to convince me of.”

“Well yeah, but me flirting is one thing, it’s whats expected, but you flirting that’s just…”

Buffy grabbed Faith’s sleeve again, this time to get her to stop. Faith saw what had caught the blondes attention and she nodded.

“Only two, we can take ‘em.”

Buffy looked down at herself. She was dripping wet, and cold and her hair looked like rats tails – tails of really untidy rats. “Do we have too?”

Faith grinned at her and pulled two stakes out of thin air, she handed one to Buffy and then sprinted in the direction of the two vamps talking on the corner of Main and Third. She jumped onto a dumpster, then over the other side, kicking one of the vamps in the head before they were even aware she was there.

The second one was quicker on the up-take and, ripping up a trash can, used it to smack the Slayer in the face. Buffy arrived just in time to see Faith get knocked to the road. The still standing vampire took off running and the blonde was torn between giving chase and tending to the fallen Slayer.

Faith was still consious and she struggled to sit up even as she hit the ground. “Go after him, B.” She urged.

“But you’re…”

“I’m fine, just get the son of a bitch.”

Buffy needed no further encouragement and sprinted off in pursuit. Faith rose to her feet, shook her head a little to clear it, then stooped to plunge her stake into the vampire she’d kicked unconsious.

“One down.” She muttered. She raised a hand to forehead and felt the large cut where the trash can had belted her. Blood was running into her eyes along with the rain water. “Shit.” She took off along Third after Buffy and the vampire.
