The heavy blackout curtains were pulled back to allow the moonlight’s soft glow to gleam on white silken sheets. The silver light played over Xander, as he lay sprawled asleep on his back. One arm thrown in careless slumber over his head, the other was clutched to his chest, fingers tangled with Spikes. Silently the vampire surveyed his lover, deep blue eyes clouded with emotion. Such things he found hard to show to anyone else but his Xander.
His long pale fingers carded through ebony locks creating little order from the tumbled disarray around the handsome face. Xander slept on peacefully, his body relaxed in total trust beside his lover, his heartbeat steady. Those watchful blue eyes, half lidded with sated passion, as Spike breathed in the scent of his human. A small contented smile touched his usually sardonic lips transforming his face from the visage of a hardened warrior to…a man.
A man in love.
Music drifted from the radio by the bed, the melodic chords filtered by the sounds of Xander’s soft breathing. He let the melody play over his mind, snorting softly at the identifying words. This was not the sort of song he’d ever admit to listening to, yet the music echoed what he felt in his heart. The words of the song touched him, made him smile as he watched his lover. Let the utter wonder of being in love with Xander drift through his being.
#Feelin’ blue
When I’m trying to forget the feeling that I miss you
Feeling green
When the jealousy swells and it wont go away in dreams
Feeling yellow, I’m confused inside,
A little hazy then mellow when I feel your eyes on me#
Listening to the soft song in the dark where no one else but Xander mattered. His smile intensified with the chorus, as he remembered briefly their first kiss. Floating further back to the very first time he’d looked at Xander…… and had seen beneath the surface layer he projected to his friends. The image of the good man, the one who was always there when they needed him, the one who buried his pain and got on with the fight.
He’d looked beyond the jokes and shaky self-confidence, looked deeper and had seen……..Xander.
#Feeling fine, sublime, when that smile of yours creeps into my mind.
Nobody told me it’d feel so good, nobody said you’d be so beautiful.
Nobody warned me about your smile,
You’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes,
I’m colourblind, you make me colourblind.#
They’d been enemies for so long, he’d grown tired of it, hoped that Xander had too. In the still quiet of the night they’d sat together, patrolling over, nasties dead, slayer and witch gone home to sleep the sleep of the just. With no one to hear but the human he’d come to respect, he’d sat in the dark and dropped his defences. Gone was the stubborn sarcasm, the offhand comments that masked the truth, he’d just talked.
About everything, the pain between them…the reasons why….and Spike had revealed part of himself to Xander by being unexpectedly honest.
Just laid open his heart and said what he’d seen, that Xander had something so pure inside him that it almost blinding. That simple truth was powerful enough on its own, but when combined with his loyalty, made him nothing short of miraculous. Nothing the Hellmouth could ever do would change that.
#Feeling red when you spend all your time with your friends and not me instead
Feeling black when I think about all of the things that I feel I lack
Feeling jaded when it’s not gone right,
All the colours have faded when I feel your eyes on me#
Time had passed and they’d spent it looking for and finding things in common. Some ts ths they’d always had and never realized, they both loved deeply, they both needed to be loved in return. Even their mutual dislike of Angel was taken out and laughed about. Now they found other things to like about each other, books and games, even tolerating things they didn’t like to keep the other happy.
Give and take
They became friends,

They’d been friends first, becoming lovers was something that took even Spike himself by surprise. Xander had made the first move……some completely ugly and misguided demon had tried to turn the human into a midnight snack and Spike had lost it. A whirling dervish of ice blonde hair and black leather as the angry vampire had just about torn the stupid beast to bits. He’d stood there panting with exertion, covered in slime and blood when Xander had reached out and grabbed him.
Laid his lips on his and just kissed him.
#Blinded by the light you shine the colours fade completely.
Blinded by you every time I feel your smile defeat me.
I’m colourblind I just can’t deny this feeling.#
Shock had kept Spike still for a millisecond and then he had gathered the human into his arms and kissed him back.
Gasps of surprise from Buffy and Willow had nearly torn them apart, but then it was the cheer from Dawn that had them smiling dazedly at each other.
Xander had stayed in his arms, he’d licked his lips and taken a shaky breath, brown eyes trying desperately to read his. Spike had smiled then, at the uncertain look that lay in those chocolate depths. Trying to lay his mind at rest he’d just breathed softly,
“About time Xan”
The smile that covered Xander’s face was achingly brilliant; surely the sun itself couldn’t be that bright. They’d gone home together, quietly revelling in each other’s company.

Words hadn’t been necessary, and nerves had been abundantly evident, but Spike had preserved. Kisses had been long and languid, lips gently caressing, soothing Xander with reverent touches. Feeling warm hesitant hands tugging at his clothing had Spike straining to remain in control. He’d let Xander undress him, making sure he did nothing to panic his new lover. The dark haired man had touched him like he was precious, no one had ever made him feel like that before.
Moisture gathered at the corners of his eyes as Xander had reverently caressed him. Lying together on Xander’s bed, sweet aches racking his body, Spike had prepared himself. Looking down into chocolate eyes brimming with trust, Spike impaled himself on his human’s hot length. Xander arched his back at the tight grip of Spike’s body, his mouth opening in a soundless cry, eyes wide with wonder.

You’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes,
I’m colourblind, you’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes#
Hot hands had gripped his hips, helping him raise and lower himself on the smooth column of flesh. Spike had been unable to look anywhere but into Xander’s eyes, his deepest emotions flickered like visions across those chocolate orbs. Sweet surrender, tender devotion, blind passion….and love, a gift he’d never dreamed he’d ever have. Xander’s hands took his, wound them together, and pulled him down into a kiss that worshipped everything he was…..everything they could be together. Spike whimpered at the fidelity of that simple action, his body shuddering into climax, lips still pressed to Xander’s. The rippling muscles played over the hard length of Xander’s cock, blinding him with pleasure as he followed his love into the abyss.
#You make me colourblind
You’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes,
You make me colourblind,
you’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes#
The memory of that first time still had the power to arouse Spike. Safe in the dark where no one else could see the misting of his eyes or watch as he swallowed the lump in his throat.
Spike’s lips ghosted across Xander’s forehead before pressing a soft kiss into the sable locks. The human smiled in his sleep, his fingers tightening on Spike’s hand, reassuring himself that his lover was still there. He rolled into the cooler body, snuggling his face into the vampire’s neck, lips murmuring against the tender skin.
#I’m colourblind
Nobody told me it’d feel so good, nobody said you’d be so beautiful
Nobody warned me about your smile
You’re the light, you’re the light when I close my eyes,
I’m colourblind#
“LuvyouSpike”
Spike blinked against the threat of tears, carefully sliding his free arm under Xander’s neck. His smile was pure as he breathed in deeply, calming himself as he let his words whisper over his love’s cheek.
“Luv you too Xan”
