A/N: I have used some things that are actually factual in Catholicism but other things I have made up to fit the story so if you're Catholic or God forbid, a nun or priest reading this and something isn't factual, please don't heckle me about it. I am aware. Thanks.
Prologue
Buffy Summers read the steps again for the 1000th time as she jotted down notes next to each of them:
1. Regular meetings with the Spiritual/Vocation Director; check
2. Formal Application; check
3. Two-year novitiate experience; check
4. Three to six years of temporary commitment to live the vows; almost check
5. Final profession of perpetual vows; 1 morar tar to go
She placed her checklist to the side of her desk and stood. She did this ritual every Monday to recheck the process of becoming a nun. She didn’t know why she did it but she was obsessive about it.
It was time for her morning classes. She had just transferred to Los Angeles from Sunnydale one week before. She would miss her sisters there but she had met new ones here and there was much more work that needed to be done in L.A. than Sunnydale. This was God’s plan for her. She would be teaching Physical Education to 4th through 6th grade students at St. Anne Mission School. She checked her appearance in the small mirror to make sure her habit was presentable.
Buffy walked along the sidewalk on her way towards the school building. She passed by the soccer field where some boys were practicing. Buffy watched the elementary age children run and play with a smile on her face. She was lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear a voice call to her to look out as one of the balls was kicked over the fence and hit her square in the head, knocking her over and out. Her world went black.
“Sister? Sister? Are you O.K.?” Buffy heard a distance voice. Her eyes fluttered open to reveal an angel above her. He had bright white blonde hair and piercing soulful blue eyes. His cheeks were chiseled from marble.
“Are you an angel?” Buffy whispered.
“No, luv. Just a priest.” He smiled at her.
“Am I in heaven?” Buffy asked then.
“No, I’m sorry. You got hit in the head with one of our soccer balls. It knocked you out. I don’t see any blood though. I think you’ll be O.K. Can you stand?” the beautiful priest said to her as he assisted her up.
Buffy brushed off her clothing and tried to adjust her wimple.
“Here, let me help” the priest said as he stepped closer and reached his hands to the sides of her head to adjust it into place for her. Buffy looked up at him again and her breath caught. He was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. She felt her heart speed up and her skin grow hot. She had never felt affected by a man like this before. The priest looked down at her and noted the way she was looking at him. She was beautiful. He felt himself grow warm and felt a stirring below his waist that priests were not supposed to feel. He stepped back away quickly.
“Thank you, Father” she finally said.
“Do you need to see a doctor?” the priest asked concerned.
“No, I think I’ll be alright.” Buffy answered.
“I haven’t seen you here before. I’m Father William. I coach soccer and teach English here.” He introduced himself.
“I’m Sister Buffy. I just transferred here from the Sunnydale Parish. I’m a teacher too. I’m on my way to my first class right now. I teach Physical Education.” She replied.
“Ahhh…yes, I heard you were coming to join us. Our Phys Ed. Teacher retired last month.” He informed her.
“Well…I guess I’ll be on my way. Nice meeting you Father William” Buffy smiled radiantly.
“The pleasure was mine.” William smiled back. He felt a thud in his heart that he’d never felt before as she walked away.
He was terrified.
