Chapter 8 part 2
Even with the new info about the nasties, Xander still couldn’t find anything relevant. So bored out of his mind, he decided to explore the Hotel. Maybe if he was lucky he could find blackmail material on Angel.
Thinking of Angel got him thinking about Angelus. There had to be a way to make the soul permanent. There was no way he wanted Angelus to claim him, at least with Spike he knew he would get some respect. Hell he stayed 100 years with Dru taking care of her and would of given her the moon if she asked. Angelus had torured her until she was insane. So if he had to choose a vampire, it was Spike hands down.
Shaking his head, Xander let those thoughts go. He needed to believe that they would find a way to fix it, otherwise he might just give his heart, and find it stomped on when the spell did stop.
He was to his third room when he heard the sound of writing. Curious as to who was in the Hotel still, with the vamps out hunting, he started following it. At last he came to a door that was open. Inside was a woman writing frantically on the walls. Looking around he noticed that the other three walls were already covered in what looked to be equations.
“Um…Hi.”
The marker the woman was writing with clattered to the floor. Slowly the petite figure turned around. Wide scared eyes looked at him behind a curtain of hair.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you but I was bored and Angel and Spike are still out, and I got tired of research since I am having absolutely no luck finding three bad guys who take away sound because it hurts them. Well I don’t know for sure that it hurts them but why else would they take it away? Anyway I decided to look around and I heard you writing and I got curious. So what’s your name? Oh and what are you trying to figure out?” Xander babbled guiltily since he hadn’t wanted to scare her.
“…Fred…” came the shy response, “ho-how di-did you know I…I was trying to…figure something out?”
“Oh my friend Willow is really smart and she would always make me listen to her when she was trying to figure stuff out. Not that I minded, since it’s nice to have someone care enough to actually want to know what you think. Anyway she would show me these equations, a lot like the ones you’ve written and then Wil would start writing endlessly trying to come to some conclusion. So I figured you might be the same. If I’m annoying you, feel free to kick me out.” Xander gave one of his patented goofy grins guaranteed to make anyone relax.
It worked, Fred was already calmer and it showed in her speech. “I…I am trying to find an equation that given the right information will be able to give the vulnerable areas of any given subject, even without knowing the subjects type. With it we should be able to determine the best method of disposal without the hours of wasted time.”
Xander paused to think, using his years of figuring out Willow talk, he was sure he got the gist of it. “So even if we have no clue what we are fighting as long as we have some key information we can still determine it’s weak point and be able to kill it? Oh man I hope you figure it out. It would me nice for once if I could get the upper hand and not the wall I get thrown into”
A surprised pleased look spread over Fred’s face, “If…if I fig-figure it out I will tell you.”
“Thanks! Well I guess I had better get back to looking those bad guys. Right now is the time I wish I had some type of clue to lead me in the right direction. Bye Fred I will talk to you later.”
Xander didn’t think twice about the conversation with the shy girl but then again he didn’t know that this was the first time she had talked to another human being since she got back from the hell dimension. So his exploring done for now, Xander went back to research.
A.N. okay so I lied and this is up on Wen. instead of Tues day but hey I only missed by 52 miniutes. Sorry guys but homework comes first and I had a computer class project I had to work on. On a good note I have spring break next week so I should be finishing the story up then. There are probably two to three chapters of this left, but I will be writing a sequel.
For the angel pair so far I have:
Moonkat for: Wes
Cas for: Lorne ( I will admit I cracked a grin at this but now I am curious, I have never seen this pairing, and know of no stories that have the pairing. Do you know of any good ones I can read)
Wilder for: Wes or Cordy
Daeomae for Cordy or Wes
So far Wes has three, Cordy has two and Lorne has one. You have until I post on Thursday/Friday(you just can't be sure what will pop up that needs your atention) to put in your votes.
