“What happened to you? Get lost on a beer run?” She asked and he glared, he pulled himself up and looked at her.
“I couldn’t stay locked up in here, I’m not an animal.”
“Beg to differ.” Angel said behind him, Xander turned towards him and they looked like they were going to fight but Buffy pulled at Xander.
“Come on, you and I are going to fight in private.” Buffy said and Xander growled as he left Angel and Spike in the foyer.
“Well, tea anyone?” Spike asked and they stood around uncomfortably.

“What the hell is wrong with you, you could have hurt someone!” Buffy snapped as they closed the door to her office.
“I told you, I had to get out, had to hunt, something anything, it didn’t matter, I felt like I was going crazy!”
“You still could have told me, I could have gone with you.”
“I think I can still handle going outside by myself.”
“Apparently not, considering you have a black eye.”
“Angel and I had a little tussle.”
“What is with him and beating up by boyfriends!”
Buffy began to pace back and forth thinking of the yelling she was going to give Angel when she saw him but instead Xander grabbed her and kissed her. They pulled apart and he looked at her.
“Did you miss me; is that the real problem here?” He asked and she grimaced.
“Hey, don’t try to stop the angry by acting all sexy.” She said as she ran her finger around his chest.
“I’m sorry for running off but it’s not like I’m some beast you need to keep chained up.”
“I’m sorry too, but you scared us, we want Xander intact. And about that fighting with Angel..”
“I’m not jealous of him Buffy.” He said succinctly and she had to admit she was a little shocked.
“Really?” She said hopefully as she melted into him just a little bit more.
“I’m not saying I want us to start a bowling league together but I’m not going to punish you for loving him.” He told her and he ran his finger across her cheek.
“I just wish he wasn’t here.” She said as she took his hand.
“Me too, but things happen, I’m not going to let anyone stop us from being together.” Xander said and he kissed her lightly on the mouth. “Why don’t we go out on a date?”
Xander asked her and she looked at him like he was crazy, but at the same time he saw a shadow of a smile on his face.
“What? We can’t go out; we’re supposed to be gearing up for the fight of the century.”
“Aren’t you the champion of the “we deserve a normal life”? I said this wasn’t going to stop us and it isn’t. So I’m asking, will you go out with me?”
“Of course.” Buffy answered and Xander took her into his arms to kiss her again.
“ANGEL!” Xander and Buffy heard Wesley yell, they came out of the room and Wesley looked clownish in Giles ill fitting clothes.
“There coming.” Wesley said as he pulled his belt tighter.
“What happened to your clothes?” Buffy asked, and Wesley looked at her trying to look for an answer.
“Lady Smurf over their ripped his kit off,” Spike told her and she looked confused and Wesley turned and glared at Spike who gave him a stop telling people that look.
“I had a vision, from Lilah, she says they’re coming.”
“Did they say how?” Buffy asked,

“No but she told me if this doesn’t work that they’ll give up. That after this battle they’ll stop chasing us,”
“Really?” Spike said.
“That’s what she told me, she said they wouldn’t be able to re-group enough to come after us for a least another thousand years.”
“I think I could get some things done within that time.” Spike said and Angel looked at him and smiled.
“So what should we do now?”
“Well I say we turn Xander human.” Buffy said and Xander frowned.
“Are you sure that’s such a good idea, I mean, wouldn’t it be better to have more guys with super powers than less?” Xander told her and she grimaced again.
“This is not the plan, I protect them, I get you back, and that’s the deal.” Buffy said and she glared at him.
“I hate to admit it, but he has a point Buffy.” Angel told her.
“We have plenty of time.” Wesley interjected. “If you want him to stay vampire-like for a little while longer, it won’t hurt anything.” Wesley told them. Buffy looked at Xander and he smiled down at her.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Buffy asked and took her hand.
“If it’s to help you, I’ll do it.” He told her and Spike and Angel looked away.
“We’ll stay up and keep watch with our new member.” Spike said as he gestured to Xander.
“Why do I have to stay?” Xander asked.
“Because you’ve got a lot to learn, and we only have little time to teach you.” Angel told him and Xander balked at being taught anything by his old rival.
“I’ve been fighting for good just as long as you two have.”
“Not as a vampire.” Spike told him. Buffy tried not to worry as she went up the stairs. She got a few steps and Xander ran up the steps and grabbed her hands.
“Tomorrow night you and me, alone,” Xander told her and she nodded her head.
“You boys play nice now.” Buffy told them as she watched Xander follow them into the basement. She knew it wasn’t going to go well, but she had no problem with the idea of Xander teaching Spike and Angel a thing or two.
“All right come at me, but use your instincts not your brain, ok?” Spike told him and Xander stared at him intently trying not to think but just to react. He came at Spike throwing blows, he felt like he was moving faster than light and Spike countered his every move then out of nowhere Spike tried to swiping kick him and Xander just flipped up in the air. He had never done a flip in his life, except when he was on a diving board, he pulled himself up and flew through the air, only for a second of course, but it felt like an eternity, then he came down, with his feet firmly planted on the mats below him and he looked at Spike.
“Cool.” Xander said and Spike smiled at him.
“That’s the power, it’s what you have now, you’re something else, not what you were, you’re life is about nothing more than survival now.” Angel told him from behind Xander, Xander grimaced.
“Don’t let him scare you, you can still go to Disneyland, it just has to be dark.” Spike said and tried to punch him in the face, Xander dodged and continued to pace around Spike.
“But you’re not really a person anymore; remember that, you’re more animal than man.”
Angel continued, Spike gave a Cheshire cat smile.
