Be A Man
Chapter 9
Riley had gotten fed up with her disruptions and had left the Magic Box hours ago so she was now all alone with the exception of Anya who was busy counting the money. There was no way she was going in there and facing Anya, risking disrupting her counting.
Settling onto the leather sofa, Dawn nudged the remote control closer to her slowly, as not to disturb Spike who was engrossed in the half naked bimbo on TV.
Sliding it into her hand, she crowed triumphantly holding tightly while she flicked through the many hundreds of channels trying to find something she liked. Chancing a look at Spike she frowned, he was still in the same position as the last time she had looked, except this time his eyes were closed and the line of concentration on his forehead had finally relaxed.
She was glad he was finally asleep, there were things she needed to do in her new room that didn’t require a chaperone constantly hanging over her shoulder. She put the remote back to where she stole it from and got up, creeping as silently as she could up the spiral metal staircase to her room and pulling her rucksack from under her bed.
She pulled out her diary and camera and started snapping photos of the place, waving the Polaroid’s around to develop them as quickly as possible and placed the developed and dry pictures in her diary slipped it all back into her bag, taking it all with her. The bitchy kids at school would stop picking on her when they saw her new room. They’d all want to be friends with her then. Then Spike could scare the crap out of them so they’d never be horrid to her again.
Waking Spike quickly she asked him to walk her home as the sun had already set and Buffy would be practically apoplectic by the time she got back anyway. Sometimes Dawn wished her sister wasn’t the Slayer just so she could set Spike after her to scare her, but she knew that if Buffy wasn’t the ‘vampire slayer’ then she would never had met Spike or gotten all this fabulous stuff and a new bedroom.
Waving goodbye to the vampire as she closed the kitchen door behind her she kissed her mom goodnight and raced up the stairs to record everything in her journal.
