Nine

Her and Dru walked hay fry from the store, both carrying a couple bags, neither one of them noticed the young man trying to breathe in the next isle. He had heard Faith ask for prenatal vitamins and freaked right out. He gulped in a few deep breaths and ran from the store, the box of condoms he was about to buy left lying on the floor. Spike and Buffy returned from the movie and practically ran to her room. They couldn’t wait to be together again.

“What?” Parker growled answering the knock at his door.

“Hey Parker…It’s just me.”

“Parker…you know that Faith chick you brought home a while ago…The one you really like? The one who hasn’t spared a moment for you since…” Andrew asked.

“Yeah Andrew what about her?” Parker asked his younger brother. It was strange, most brothers didn’t get along as well as these two, but Parker figured it was cause his dad died when they were young, and mom…well she never really had time for them cause she was always working, so they had no choice, they had to take care of each other.helphelped that they were only eleven months apart too and shared some of the same friends.

“Well I saw her at the drugstore and she was buying…ok…sit down…” Andrew said softly. “This is so hard to say…she’s pregnant…she was buying prenatal vitamins…and other stuff…” He stopped when he looked at his brother’s shocked face.

“What? Oh my god! She told me she was on the pill…Oh my god…”

“She’s a trashy Ho anyway who knows if it’s even yours …” Andrew said angrily trying to soften the blow for his brother. Suddenly Parker was upon him, hitting, punching… Andrew had unintentionally said the one thing that could set him off. He didn’t want Faith to be with anyone else.

Andrew felt immense pain in his right eye before the world went black all he heard was “Don’t you ever fucking talk about her!!!”

“I need to talk to her…” Pr sor sounded desperate.

“She stayed at her friends place last night…She said she wouldne hoe home until Sunday…but I think she said they were going to the Bronze tonight…”

“Ok. Yeah…I’ll try to catch up with her at the Bronze…” Parker said softly. “Bye.”

“Buffy!” Willow screamed from across the packed club. Buffy looked up and saw her friend franticly waving. She waived back and pulled Spike along behind her through the dancing bodies.

They sat at the table for a while, suddenly their song came on over the speakers. “Dance?” Spike asked pulling Buffy from her chair.

Faith and Dru lounged on one of the couches, watching the bodies in motion. Faith looked up when someone blocked her view. “Oh! Hey Parker…want to join us?” She perked up.

“No…I want to talk to you…” He said softly.

“Is everything Ok?” She asked noticing his bandaged hand.

“I don’t know…” He said tears welling in his eyes.

Faith looked up and noticed Parker’s brother glaring at her he looked all bruised up. “What happened to Andrew? And why is he staring at me like that?” Faith asked.

“Come talk to me please …” Parker reached out his hand.

“You are ok if I go?” Faith asked Dru.

“Yeah…I’ll be fine.” Dru smiled at her friend. “You’ve helped me with my life, now it’s time to work on yours.”

Faith reached for Parker’s hand and followed him.

“Gotta love Elvis.” Spike smiled at the young woman in his arms.

“Faith…you know I care about you right?” Parker asked, eyes on gro ground.

“Yeah…I know but I told you Parker, I can’t be tied down. It never ends well.”

“Were youn pln planning on telling me?” He asked looking into her eyes.

“Telling you what?” She asked baffled.

“Faith…I think…no I know, I’m in love with you…that one night we shared…it was special to me, I haven’t forgotten it…I want to be with you…I can see a future with you…I want to be a part of our baby’s life…please…” He grabbed her hand and pulled her against him.

Faith stood there in shock. She knew she was in shock cause she could feel her jaw drop. She never did that.

“Faith? Say something…anything…” Parker whispered. He could feel tears welling up behind his eyes. “I’d be a good father, I know I would…”

“What are you talking about Parker?”

“I know it’s mine Faith…I know it is…” He was babbling but he didn’t care.

“Contrary to what you obviously think I’m not pregnant…” Faith said softly. “But it’s nice to hear that you would be there if I was.” She smiled shyly up at him.

“I would never have left your side from the moment you let me in if I had any say in it…” He said softly. “And it’s ok Faith…you don’t have to lie…I know you’re pregnant…” Parker insisted.

Neither of them heard the impassioned couple come around the corner.

Buffy and Spike didn’t notice at first that they had intruded on Faith and Parker talking, they didn’t register it right away, too wrapped up in each other.

“My brother saw you…at the drugstore…buying prenatal Vitamins, your sister already had her baby so she wouldn’t need those…”

“I’m not pregnant…those vitamins were for Dru, She’s the one who’s pregnant…” Faith replied to the shock and horror of the three people within listening distance.

Buffy gasped and pushed Spike away. “Oh my god! You got her pregnant! she screamed.

“Oh Shit…no B…” Faith turned when she heard Buffy screaming.

She turned with hot tears running down her face and ran from the club. She didn’t stop until she reached her house. She opened it quickly, ignoring Spike calling her name from behind her.

“Spike…I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you guys were there…it’s not yours…”

Spike nodded and followed his girl. He gave a good chase.

Buffy slammed the door shut and locked it. She ran to her room as a fresh wave of tears rolled down her face. She ignored the pounding and ringing of the doorbell. She curled into a little ball and sobbed brokenly.
