These Padded Walls You Call My Eyes (pt.2)

Buffy continued staring at the now empty spot where Sammy and Faith had been long after they left. "What the fuck just happened?" she asked out loud. She recieved no answer however, only glares and one amused and slightly confused look from Jessie.

"It looks to me as if Faith just left with her dead ex." Jessie told her, glancing in concern at her girlfriend who was beaming.
"What's with you?" she whispered in her ear so as to not upset Buffy any further, sensing they were already in dangerous grounds.

Kristin turned her head ever the smallest fraction, and her smile and shining eyes left her feeling happy as well. "J,my mom's
alive. And she's here and she called me her girl." Kristin whispered back, her excitement barely contained.

"I'm happy for you babe." Jessis said sincerely. "But what about Buffy? She doesn't look to warm to the idea." she commented as
Buffy twirled the stake in her hand spastically.

Kristin tugged on her hand, motioning with her head towards the door. "Lets go see Kennedy,I bet she'll be really happy to know that Sam-,my mom is back."

Jessie nodded, tip toeing over the rubble and over to the door with Kristin.

"Spike?" Kristin whispered loudly.

"What?" Spike looked around, trying to find who was calling him.

"Psst! Over here numbnuts."

"Oh." Spike glared at her, realizing she had called him numbnuts. "Who you callin' numbnuts you bloody snatch lover?"

Kritin rolled her eyes at him, feeling Jessie huff next to her she gave her a small apologetic smile. "Yo Spike, can you watch
Buffy for a while?"

"Where you goin tidbit? Buffy I can handle but little sis' knows my weak spots."

"Gross. We're just going to see Kennedy for a little bit,let Buffy blow some steam. We'll be back shortly, maybe we'll stop by and say hello to Giles while we're at it."

Spike nodded, flopping on the couch with his half finished cig. "Yeah. Careful luvs."

"Thanks Spike." Jessie hollered in a high whisper, letting Kristin drag her outside.

"Soooo,"

"So." Sammy fidgeted nervously in her seat next to Faith at the park. Something about being out in the open had her edgey as hell. A harsh sigh escaped her as she let her attention focus on the surronding area. There were little kids running around
squealing with delight as they played chase with each other in the sand, others were hollering their pleasure as they hung from
the monkey bars or went down the slide while their parents sat together and talked or watched them from their seats under the big shady leaves of oak and maple trees.

Suddenly she felt very guilty and saddened, she wished she could have been there to watch Kristin playing tag with her little itty bitty friends,or laughing when she tried the slide,or scared of the swing set. She wished she could have been there to watch her take her first swim and hold her tight on the first day of school and tell her everything was going to be okay. She missed so many important events and no matter how hard she tried or what her excuse was,she was never going to be able to make for that.

She grunted a little,a small girl fell off the swing. She stood up,stared at her bleeding knee and began crying after several moments of constant staring. She wailed loudly, and Sammy wished she could go over there and comfort her. Seconds later who she
asumed was the mother went up to her, kissed her knee and sweaped her up taking her back to a blanket under a tree where her
young boyfriend laughed and hugged the little girl. The little girl laughed gayly, her face a mask of complete happiness.

"Damn, you're fucked up." She heard Faith say softly, dropping her hand to run her fingers through her hair.

"How's that?" she questioned, her voice raw and tight. She hadn't realized that this bothered her so much.

"You look like you go over there and snatch that kid up yourself."

Sammy's brow furrowed deeply, almost touching each other,a frown appearing on her face as she looked at Faith confused. "What's so wrong with that?"

"You have a daughter Sammy. She's right back at home waiting to finally meet you."

"Yeah...a daughter my age who doesn't know me and was raised her entire life by the person who hate me the most on the world...
go figure."

Faith stood up,moving over so that she stood between Sammy's legs and wrapped her arms around her waist, pulling Sammy to her until her chin rested comfortably on her head. She took a deep breath and smiled when she caught the familiar scent that reminds
her of a fresh spring breeze,a scent that told her this was her girl. "That's not fair Sam. Buffy...well,she really came through
for me and Kristin. She's always been there for the both of us ever since...she's been there for me."

"I know that." Sammy choked softly, trembling with the intensity of her tears. She sighed, burying her face into Faith's chest.

Faith held her tighter, trying to offer comfort to her. Right now this wasn't the confident badass girl that she always was, right
now she was just a kid,all her defenses gone and pushed to the limit, she wasn't her lover right now,she was just a kid who needed a hug,a shoulder to cry on and she was glad to be able to give her that. "Sammy..."she let her voice trail, feeling her
stiffen in her grasp almost to the point that she thought she might have a heart attack. "What happened to you?"

Sammy's eyes darkened, her face becoming one of rage, her jaw clentched so tightly it might actually break. "You know what happened." she growled out.

Faith pulled away from her, feeling very painfully aware of how her slayer senses were screaming at her to run for her damn life.
She pulled her chin up with her fingertips, tilting her head so that she could look into her eyes. What she saw scared her...and
it dawned on her that this wasn't her Sammy. This wasn't that innocent young girl that walked around all day smiling at her, always holding her and not a care in the world when she was next to her. No. Those eyes, there was a maturity,a sorrow that noone
her age should ever see. Her eyes were haunted, disturbed. She wasn't innocent, she had seem and been through too many horrible ordeals to be innocent. She wasn't happy, she was scared, terrified of something only she could feel. This wasn't her Sammy
anymore. Her Sammy could never be so cold...

"I know what you're thinking Faith..." her voice was a soft again as she tried to snuggle back into her embrace. "and you're right."

"I'm right?"

Sammy nodded."you're right..."

Faith knew what she meant and it hurt her so bad. She swallowed, blinking back the tears that were barely hanging in there. She
gave her a small squeeze, feeling cold all of a sudden on the inside. "But...I don't have to be."

"I need you...I need your help Faith...I need you..." she whimpered, her grip on Faith's jacket deadly. She didn't want to let go,it would all disappear if she let go,just like last time.

Faith ran her fingers through her silky hair, marveling at how much softer it felt than the last time she had sone that. But as her hand kept traveling down, she could feel bumps and ridges through the leather of her long jacket, scars and bumps and fractures that hadn't healed right. The picture of Sammy whispering to her right before the cave collaspsed on her ran through her head, leaving her near tears herself.

"I'm...I'm right here. And I'm not going anywhere...And-and neither are you. I promise."

"So Buffy went all physco again? Figures. I think she's bipolar or something." Kennedy shook her head, handing the two girls thier drinks. "So where's Faith?" she asked taking a seat on the floor between Willow's legs by the sofa.

"She's with Sammy." Jessie said matter of factly.

Willow sighed, setting her drink on the lamp table next to her. "I know she misses her,but hanging around that stupid cave everyday isn't doing any good to anybody."

"I concure." Dawn butted in,coming back from the restroom. "It's just making things worse between her and Buffy."

"No," Kristin looked at all of them, her smile too big to contain earning her the attention of the now deadly silent room. "She's
with Sammy. She's with my mom...at the park, right now, like actually with her."

Kennedy leapt to her feet, her drink spilling on Dawn's head and making her scream. "She's like with her with her?"

Kristin couldn't help but laugh at the expression on Kennedy's face,it was too funny.

"She's back,my mom's back." She grinnned like a goofball.

"Well I'll be!" Kennedy snatched the keys off the lamptable, darting to the door and yanking it open. "What the hell are you waiting for people? Lets go,fucking move it!" she shouted excitedly, ushering Kristin,Jessie,Dawn, and Willow out of the house and
into her red jeep. "Which park Kris?"

"Um...I think the one by the schoolw where-JESUS!" she yelped as Kennedy reveresed the car and speed down the street at a hundred miles per hour.
