Love On The Hellmouth

When the two of them left a few minutes later no one was very surprised. They could all see how pissed off Buffy was and all hoped that Kennedy could calm her down. Down in the basement Giles was making a few calls when Spike came down. All Spike heard was Giles finishing a ‘Goodbye Buffy.’ “What’s all that about. Put on a show then talk?” “No Spike. I was merely reminding her someone needs to patrol. She asked you to do it. In Weatherly Park.” “Fine, whatever Watcher.” When Spike reached the door he heard some girls running off. “If it is a trap at least those girls know where I’m headed.” Spike mumbled to himself and he heads out.
Buffy takes Kennedy to the Bronze and they sit down at a booth. Buffy is clearly upset, “Buffy you can tell me anything you know.” “Okay. How do you feel about Spike?” “What do you mean?” “Me keeping him close.” “I get it. I understand why you keep him around. You’re right he is the only one besides you who can hold their own in a fight. Besides he is a good man. I see it and I’m not the only one. I know that you don’t love him but you do care for him. He’s a part of you. Just like Angel, Faith and Riley. You’ll always care about them. And I wouldn’t be much of a girlfriend if I didn’t respect that.” Buffy smiled, “Thanks. Cos I really do need him and need you to understand.” “Buffy I do. I really do. I trust you. You should do the same.” “I trust you. I trust me. I trust Spike. I’m not sure I trust Giles anymore.” “You don’t think he’d do anything to Spike do you?” “I never thought he would hurt me. But he did and…I’ve got to go. Giles has been questioning my judgment ever since he got back. My choices about Spike and everything else for that matter, I have to get to the house.”
The two came running in the house to find all the girls watching TV with Giles watching them. Buffy goes to Giles, grabs him around the neck running him up the wall. The girls look to Buffy and one of them turns of the TV. Willow, Dawn, Anya and Xander come in from the kitchen. Willow and Xander try to get Buffy to let go of her grip, but they can’t even get her to flinch. “Where is he?” “Who?” Willow asks trying to calm Buffy. She looks to Kennedy but she shakes her head. “Spike.” “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Giles chokes out. Buffy asks, “What did you do to him?” Molly is pushed to thont ont of the girls and she answers Buffy’s question, “He sent him on patrol.” Vi gets up some courage, “He said that it was you who wanted him to go.” All the Potentials nod their agreement. Willow and Xander back down shocked. Willow looks at Giles with disgust, “What did you do?” Giles stares at them all in astonishment, “Am I the only one here who sees Spike as a threat?” “Pretty much.” Kennedy replied. “Where is he?” Buffy asks as she tightens her grip. Giles splutters out an answer, “Weatherly Park. He’ll be dead before you find him.” Buffy lowers Giles to the ground but keeps her hand firmly around his neck, “When I get back, I want you out of my house, out of my life or I will let Spike kill you. Kennedy stay here. Make sure he leaves. Protect them and please be safe.” Buffy finally lets go of Giles’ neck and runs out the door. Kennedy watches her go then turns to Giles, “You heard her get out.” “You don’t know what you are doing.” “We trust Spike more than we’ll ever trust you.”
Buffy runs into Weatherly Park and immediately hears a fight. She runs to it and there is Spike being attacked by a few demons. But there are signs that more were there. Buffy kills them all with ease. When Spike sees Buffy he smiles at her then collapses. Buffy picks him up and runs back home. When they get back Spike is looking worse than death. The girls become scared. Buffy takes Spike to the basement calling for someone to bring her some blood. Kennedy runs to the refrigerator and grabs a few packs of blood. She goes down stairs and gives them to Buffy and Buffy feeds them to Spike who almost instantly starts to look better. Kennedy stays the whole time watching Buffy feed Spike. When he had drunk all the blood Buffy gets up. Kennedy goes to her and checks her over. Buffy’s fine. “So I made sure Giles got his shit but left the books. He’s gone. Everyone knows if they see him they need to come to you straight away.” “I don’t think he’ll be back. But that was smart.” Buffy kisses Kennedy. As they both start to get into it Spike calls for Buffy. Buffy beaks away from Kennedy and gives her an apologetic look then goes to Spike. “You okay Spike?” “Yeah lov. How’d you know that Watcher boy set me up?” Buffy looked to Kennedy and smiled, “Someone made me trust myself. I realized that Giles was always questioning my judgment. That he didn’t trust me. But I never trusted him after he almost got me killed. I knew he would try to get rid of you. He’s gone by the way. I won’t let him in my life again.” “Thanks for coming after me Buffy.” “I’m not ready for you not to be in my life.” Spike looks to Kennedy, “What about the new squeeze?” Kennedy looks between the two of them, “I trust both of you.”
