The Next Morning
The sun rose over Sunnydale as Buffy woke. She stretched before realizing that it was almost 8 am already.
Buffy gathered the sheets around her sat up on the edge of the bed.
"Mmmm..." Angel sleepily gazed up at her.
"Where do you think you're going?" He asked as he put his arms around her waist and gently tugged her back to lie beside.
"Class. I already missed breakfast." She answered, but not before pecking him on the lips with a tender kiss. She attempted to sit back up but he had his arms tightly around her.
"Noooo...You are staying here with me. Didn't anyone tell you that you get two weeks off after the wedding?" He asked.
"I know but I don't want to fall behind this year and- " Angel cut her off with a kiss. He opened his mouth and decided to make her forget all about classes. It worked.
"Mmm..." Buffy moaned as her put her head on his chest.
Angel drew lazy circles on her back as they just laid there enjoying each others company.
After some time Angel felt hungry.
"You want to go get something to eat?" He asked his beautiful bride.
"I think breakfast ended an hour ago." She replied.
"I mean let's go out somewhere." He offered.
"You mean outside Coe Council? How will we do that?" Buffy asked looking up at him shocked.
Angel had to snicker at that remark.
"Of course. There is a whole world out there you know. I have a car. Just get dressed; I'll take you to a nice place." He said, although he tried not to laugh out loud, he didn't want her to feel like he was making fun of her.
"Well, what do I wear?" Buffy asked.
"What ever you want to." Angel was starting to see a pattern. He sat up in bed and put his boxers on.
"You really haven't been out of the Council much have you?" He inquired.
"A little. The ball was the first time outside without an escort. " She answered a bit embarrassed.
"It is okay. It's not a big deal." He offered her the robe that was on the floor.
"Some of your stuff is in the closet. You can wear what ever you want now- outside school. That is if you're comfortable." He didn't want to push this new lifestyle on her to quickly.
Buffy got up and opened the large closet. She saw many of the pants, shirts, shoes and dresses that had been to her as birthday gifts. She picked out a pair of black pants, an indigo fitted shirt, and black slides. She found her panties and bras in a hand carved chest of drawers, made of red cedar. She changed into them while Angel threw on a shirt.
"You have a lovely apartment." She said, looking around. She had seen that it was nice last night, but now in the light of day it looked even better.
"It is your apartment too." Angel replied gently.
"Oh right." Buffy said, embarrassed again.
"So where do you usually take the girls you wake up with to breakfast?" Buffy asked
Angel only stared blankly at her.
"Oh come on. I have heard the rumors. I have seen you around the Council grounds with women. I am not as naive as you might believe." Buffy said.
"I don't think you're naive." Angel retorted.
"So you are not going to deny the girls you have had before me? How many were there?" Buffy asked, a worried look on her face.
Angel sat down on the edge of the bed. He motioned for her to her come closer. He pulled her on to his lap and softly kissed her lips.
"I only love you." He answered.
"Why? I am not any different than any of the other girls." She asked.
"That's not true. You are imaginative, zealous, resourceful, and witty...Not to mention the most attractive girl I have ever seen in my life." He said.
A tear formed in Buffy's eye as she looked down.
"Don't say that." She said as the tear rolled fell.
Angel cupped her chin in his hand and raised her face so that it met his gaze.
"Why not? It's true."
Buffy's legs were wrapped around Angel's waist, she put her arms around his shoulders and hugged him tightly for a few moments.
Mid-Morning
"So do you like it?" Angel asked.
Angel and Buffy had gone out to a breakfast house on the edge of Sunnydale.
"Yeah, better than Council food." Buffy said. Although she still felt out-of-place outside the Council.
"Thanks for taking me." Buffy said, remembering her manners.
"You don't have to thank me, Buffy." Angel said.
"Can I tell you something?" Buffy asked.
"Anything." Angel answered, worried.
"Do you promise not to get mad?"
Angel nodded, his worry growing.
"I just-" She paused to collect her thoughts before continuing.
"It is so strange. I was so sure I was going to leave. I wasn't ready to be a wife." Buffy stopped with that last word. It was the first time she had *really* heard herself say it. Although she had known it was true, it became so very real at that moment.
"Go on." Angel urged.
"I don't really know what to do." Seeing that Angel needed a further explanation, she continued.
"I almost don't remember a time when I wasn't living in the dorms. Life was always the same. I don't know how to make this new life feel right. Does that make any sense?" She asked.
"I think so." He responded.
"Buffy- are you happy with this and with me?" He asked, fearing the worst.
"I am. I just don't want to screw this up too. I am afraid I will." She replied.
Angel was pleased that she was happy with him.
"We can take things slow. Your life doesn't have to change too drastically at first. Do what you feel comfortable doing."
"I love you." She said in a small voice.
"I love you too."
