Chapter 7 : No it isn't
‘Fuck...what am I going to do...I can’t tell the others about that, they’ve enough to do. Yeah...I have to take care of that myself. It’s my fight.’ Shannah thought while she was entering the kitchen.
“Hey! Shay! Was looking for you, pal!” Faith looked up from her plate of pasta and smiled at her friend. “Wanna train with me in the basement? Spike’s out!” The Phoenix nodded and followed her ex-cellmate in the basement. After several minutes of fight, Faith stopped moving and put her hands on her sides, frowning.
“Okay, if you don’t tell me what’s wrong this time, I’ll kick your ass so hard you won’t be able to sit until a long time! Even with your healing power! The brunette exclaimed in a threatening tone. Shannah lowered her arms, looked down and took a bottle of water.
“Last chance!” The Rogue Slayer warned.
“Okay, you won!” The brunette put her hands in the air in sign of defeat. She sat on the stairs and drank. Her friend came sitting next to her.
“Do you think about your family sometimes?” The Phoenix asked after a moment. Faith was taken aback by the question. When they were in prison, there was a couple of things both avoided to talk about: their past and their family. But somehow, they knew that they had both been through hell, the kind of hell it’s hard to go through without getting scars. Theirs were hidden deep inside their tattooed bodies.
“Yeah, sometimes...” Faith answered calmly.
“I don’t even know if my parents are still alive. The watchers told me they had been killed in a fight against demons. You know they were two powerful wizards...” The young girl whispered.
“I’m an orphan too. I never met my father...and my mother od’ed when I was fourteen. After that, this woman came to me, saying I was the Chosen One. Somehow she saved me. But a few years later, she was killed by a vampire.” The Slayer confessed. Shannah noticed her friend’s hands were shaking. She put her own hand on it, trying to smooth the girl. The older brunette gave her a small smile and took the bottle.
“Anyway, don’t let that crap overwhelm you. Let behind you what’s on your back and step ahead.” She said patting Shannah’s back. “We should go to bed. Tomorrow’s gonna be a long day.” The brunette stood up.
“Faith...”
“No problem, girl.” The Slayer smiled.
“You should go to see her. I think she needs you.” Faith nodded and went upstairs to join a short blonde she knew pretty well.

Kennedy didn’t want to open her eyes, she didn’t want to leave this wonderful dream.. Reluctantly, she finally did and looked at the empty bedroom. It was dark, The only source of light was the moon rays.
‘It must be late...Well they let me sleep so I can take my time!’ she thought to herself. The potential turned around to face the window. She froze when she noticed a familiar figure sitting on the edge of the window.
‘What’s she doing here?’ she frowned. ‘Well after all it’s also her room...’
Shannah was looking at the moon, smoking, her feet swinging in the void. The young Latino girl stared at her. She knew the girl had saved her and taken care of her. When she had been out, she had heard Shannah and Willow’s voices talking about her. That meant the Phoenix cared about her. But Kennedy knew she was restraining herself, because she didn’t want to hurt anyone. No attachment, because her death would hurt the one she loved. Kennedy understood that, but still, she couldn’t stand not being with Shannah. Meanwhile, the dark brunette had finished her cigarette. Kennedy quickly shut her eyes closed, pretending to be asleep. Shannah stood up and knelt in front of the potential. Kennedy could feel her smoker but smooth breath against her skin. The young girl put a lock of the potential’s hair behind her ear with a careful movement, afraid to wake her up.
“Everything’s gonna be fine...” she whispered so low Kennedy could barely hear her voice. Suddenly both girls heard cries coming from downstairs. Obviously there was a quarrel going on in the living room. Shannah stood up in a hurry and rushed out of the room without a sound, leaving a smiling Kennedy behind her.
“I can't watch you just throw away everything that...I know I'm right about this. I just need a little...I can't stay here and watch her lead you into some disaster.” Buffy said with anger. After the previous day’s defeat, her army was now doubting of her. And she couldn’t stand it...because somehow she knew it was her fault. She had thrown them into the lion’s jaws, and it had eaten them. Now they were throwing her away, and she couldn’t deal with it, especially when it was her sister who was driving her out of their own house.
“Then you can't stay here. Buffy, I love you, but you were right. We have to be together on this. You can't be a part of it. So I need you to leave. I'm sorry, but this is my house, too.” Dawn said in a soft tone, tears on the verge of her eyes. Buffy stared at her for a moment, then left the house. Meanwhile Shannah made her way downstairs.
“Ding dong, the witch is dead.” She heard Rona exclaim.
“Shut your mouth” Dawn scolded angrily. The Phoenix didn’t understand what was going on in here, she saw Faith rushing out of the house and slamming the door behind her.
“What the fuck’s happening here?” The brunette shouted. She didn’t need any answers, their faces were saying a lot. “You’re all selfish lunatics... ” she added in the same tone before leaving the house.
