Chapter 7: Tryouts- Part Two
Buffy wove her way through the throng of people trying to find Faith, during her five-minute break between stages. People voiced their support for her in the competition as she passed and Buffy smiled and thanked them.
“Hey, B! Over here.”
Buffy turned around to see Faith waving to her and made her way over to her.
“How you doing?”
Buffy wanly smiled. “Oh, fine… besides this nearly overwhelming nervousness.”
“You’re doing awesome up there. Almost everyone that I’ve talked to has said that you were their favorite… once I was done with them.” Faith smiled mischievously.
“What do you mean? You’re not bribing anyone are you?”
“No, of course not… well not with money anyway.”
Buffy gasped with mock horror. “I can’t believe you! Oh wait, yes I can!”
Faith laughed and slung her arm around Buffy’s shoulder. “You know me. I’m willing to do anything for my friends.”
Buffy shook her head at her friend. “Faith, you’re willing to do anything for anything.”
“Your point?”
Buffy laughed as she heard the call for the tryouts to resume.
“Good luck, B! You’re doing great!”
“Thanks!” Buffy called back as she joined the remaining eight girls behind the bar.
***
“Blondie- bear! There you are!”
Spike groaned as he heard her voice behind him. He’d hoped that she wouldn’t be able to find him during the break. He downed his third shot that night and turned to face her.
“Been right here, Harm.”
She threw her arms around him. “Wasn’t I great up there, Spikey?”
“You were a vision, pet.” Spike gently pulled her arms from around him.
She beamed up at him. “I know, huh? My only competition, and I use that word loosely, is that Buffy chick.”
Spike ears perked. “Buffy?”
“Yeah, you know the sleazy wannabe vampire chick in the red and black. She called me a vapid whore, Spike!”
Spike eyes flashed angrily for a second at Harmony’s words. How dare she call Buffy sleazy! Harmony, however, took his look to be anger over Buffy’s words to her.
“You should beat her up or something.”
Spike just shook his head at her. “She sounds right awful, pet, but I’m not going to do anything to her.”
“But Spiiiike! She was so mean to me!”
Spike winced at the pitch her voice took, but sighed with relief when the announcement came for the next round.
“Oh, I’ve gotta go! Wish me luck blondie-bear!”
Spike watched her scamper off to join the others. Not in a million bloody years.

“This next round is bartending.” Cordelia, standing on the bar, related the rules of this round. “To keep everything as fair as possible, no one is allowed to tip over five dollars at one time. This for those rich SOB’s out there that knows one of the girls here and wants to donate a large sum of money to her cause. So, five bucks max and you have to order a drink. If the girls break anything, it will be deducted from their tips. The four girls with the most money will go on to the next round.” Cordelia addressed her tryouts. “Alright Girls, show me you belong here! The bar is yours.” Cordelia hopped down from the bar and watched from the side with the rest of the Coyotes.
The eight girls ran from the side of the bar to where they wanted to be for the duration of the round. Buffy tried for center, but Harmony roughly shoved her aside, while smiling brightly at the patrons in front of her.
Bitch, Buffy thought as she nearly fell. She glared at Harmony for a second before turning to the task. She had at least a dozen people shouting their drink requests at her. Her smiled faltered slightly as she was starting to feel a little overwhelmed. Focus, Buffy, you can do this!
She knew that she couldn’t just take their drink orders, she had to do a bit of a show as well. The first orders were easy; everyone just wanted a beer. She felt lucky that she wasn’t getting that many mixed drinks. She looked to the next customer and smiled sweetly.
“What can I get for you?”
“A Coke.”
Buffy faltered for a second, expecting yet another beer order or at least some alcoholic beverage. “You want any Jack or Captain in that?”
“Just a coke.”
“You know sober people are against our policy here.” Buffy placed her hands on her hips.
“I’m a rebel.”
Buffy smiled at him, but flipped him off with both hands.
The man laughed. “Hey, I’m DD tonight.”
“Well in that case…” Buffy dropped one hand but continued to flip him off with the other as she got him his drink.
“Here you go, you responsible person, you.”
The man laughed but left her a nice five-dollar tip as he left.
The rest of the time went fast for Buffy. She worked the crowd, flirted with the men, made fun of the sobers, and flat out refused to give out water. She was receiving hefty tips, but she was also breaking things here and there. She would try to flip bottles and catch them as she was mixing drinks and occasionally she would miss, shattering the bottle. By the end of the round, however, she was more confident in her abilities and was having a great time.
***
Spike was trying to get up to Buffy, but there were too many people. Well at least she is popular with the crowd.
Spike watched as Buffy went from being completely overwhelmed to feeling completely comfortable behind the bar. He marveled at how he could read her every emotion in her face and felt proud that she was learning so fast.
Harmony on the other hand, took to it right away, or so it seemed. He was sure those mixed drinks of hers were not mixed right, but she worked the men. She’d flash cleavage or flirt suggestively with them. Spike winced, as it seemed she broke something each time she had an order, but it didn’t seem as if many of the other girls were fairing much better, including Buffy.
“Time’s up girls!” Cordelia called over the microphone. “Please turn in your tips and we’ll see who gets to stay.”
***
While the totals were being tallied, Spike made his way over to the side of the bar, where he captured the attention of a Coyote.
“I remember you. You were here a few weeks back. So why is your hair that color?”
Spike smirked at the tactful blonde. “Dunno, must be a genetic defect.”
She smiled. “Must be. What can I do you for?”
“The next round is body shots, correct?”
“It is.”
Spike slid a twenty over to her. “I’d like to have mine from Buffy Summers.”
***
Buffy stood there wringing her hands nervously. She wasn’t really sure of how she did. She knew she made a tidy sum of cash, but also knew she lost a lot of money in broken glass.
“You know, if you weren’t such a bitch, you’d have made a lot more money.”
Buffy, rolled her eyes as she turned to face Harmony. “And maybe if you weren’t such a ditz you could have gotten a drink right.”
Harmony huffed as she crossed her arms and turned away.
Buffy smirked.
“Alright Girls, the totals are in including deductions.” Cordelia called out. The first four girls called had made the least amount of money and were dismissed. “The ones that are staying are Amy Madison, in the hole $10; Harmony Kendall, owing $8; Buffy Summers and Lilah Morgan are tied for making the most money this round with only owing us $6!” Cordelia laughed. “You guys are pathetic!”
The crowd laughed as none of the girls made any money at all, but actually lost money.
Buffy felt relieved that she didn’t lose but also a little embarrassed by not at least breaking even.
Cordelia spoke again. “The next round will have two parts to it. The first part is performing a body shot with one of our patrons and the second is performing a penalty shot. In each of these, we are looking for different things. For the body shot, we want to see your seductive side. For the penalty, we want to see your inner dominatrix.”
At that, many men in the crowd shouted their approval. Cordelia continued, “Each of our potentials will have a Coyote with them to help. Glory, Anya, Kennedy, and Anne, come pick your potential for the round.”
The Coyotes paired themselves up: Glory with Buffy, Kennedy with Harmony, Lily with Amy, and Anya with Lilah. The pairs then spread out across the bar.
“Alright men, who wants some?” Cordelia laughed at the eager response she received. “Coyotes, pick your victims!”
While Glory was scanning the crowd for their “victim,” Buffy was muttering a prayer that her confidence didn’t desert her now. This was a whole different level than before. She was expected to be up close and personal with a strange man and she wasn’t sure she would be able to handle it. Handled it just fine a couple weeks ago. She blushed at the memory.
“You, Billy Idol wannabe, get over here.”
Buffy looked to see who she had picked and felt her pulse quicken. Oh, my god, he’s here! It all felt surreal to see him there, walking towards her. She was having trouble focusing.
Spike rejoiced inside at her reaction to seeing him again. She remembers me! And I’ll make damn sure she never bloody forgets.
“Hello, luv.” Spike smirked, as she seemed to finally focus on him. They stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before he felt her emotionally detach herself from him. He frowned slightly at the lost connection.
“Oh, this one thinks he’s hot stuff doesn’t he? I think we’ll have to punish him.” Buffy smirked. “But I think in order to make his punishment more severe, we’ll have to give him pleasure first.”
Glory just stood back and watched this girl go. She was a natural. She noticed the moment between them, but thought it just mutual attraction. She was impressed with the way Buffy pulled herself from the moment. If Glory had her way, she would be the new recruit.
Focus, Buffy, Focus! Just pretend he’s just Joe Normal, not the man who’s been invading your fantasies. Oh, wait… Buffy had the brilliant thought that if she acted as if he was the man from her fantasies it might make a better show. Buffy smiled seductively and crooked her finger for him to come closer. When he did, she wove her fingers through his hair, and leaned down to press her cheek against his. “What’s your poison?”
Spike let out a shaky breath. “You are, luv”
Buffy laughed low and silky. “Naughty boy, that’s not what I meant.”
“Tequila, then.” Her voice was driving him wild. This was a completely different person than who he’d met, but he suspected it was a persona she adopted for this bar. He wasn’t much caring at the moment however.
As Glory went to grab the shot, Buffy spun Spike around so his back was to the bar. She sat down on the edge of the bar and pulled him backwards to lean across her legs and the bar. She grabbed a lime out of a nearby container and popped it into her mouth. Spike waited patiently to see what she would do next.
Buffy leaned over him and as she went down, she splayed her hand down his chest, feeling his muscles contract from her touch. When she was but a hairs breadth from his mouth, Spike had to fight the intense need to grab her and kiss her senseless, but he knew that was against the rules. She was allowed to touch, he was not.
Buffy was struggling to not kiss him as well. She squeezed the lime juice into his mouth, while her wandering hand continued to massage his chest and what she could reach of his abdomen. She slowly raised her head, bringing her adventurous hand back with her, slowly scraping her nails against him. She enjoyed the little gasp he made as she did this.
She gently pushed him off her, rose to her knees, and turned him around. Glory came over then and set the shot glass between Buffy breasts.
Buffy wove her hands into Spike’s hair, once again and pulled him towards her. She grabbed his hands and placed them on her hips.
Knowing that no one could see what he was actually doing, Spike gently licked each breast, and smirked when he felt her stiffen. He tightened his hold on her, before lifting the shot glass out with his mouth and slamming it back. Releasing her, he set the shot glass back on the bar, looked up at her with a smoldering, mischievous look, and slowly licked his lips. “Delicious.”
Buffy shivered under his gaze.
Cordy’s voice over the speakers broke the moment. “Very good, girls! Now men don’t you go away, you are their penalty shot victims as well! Punish away, girls!”
Glory motioned Buffy over to her, whispered instructions to her, and handed her a tube of lipstick and a pair of scissors. Buffy smiled and tucked the tube into the waistband of her pants and set the scissors close by.
Glory went to stand in front of Spike as she worked her bra off and out from under her shirt. She twirled it by the strap in one hand and crooked her finger at him with the other.
Spike walked warily up to her, not really sure what he had gotten himself into.
Glory sat at the edge of the bar and when he was close enough, she spun him around and pulled him back against her, while wrapping the bra around his face.
Buffy smirked as she advanced on him. “You’ve been a very bad boy. It’s time you were punished.”
Spike felt his pulse quicken at the situation. He wasn’t really sure if it was from excitement or fear.
Buffy dropped to her knees next to them and leaned over him, trailing her hands down his chest. When she reached his belt, she quickly undid it and pulled it out.
“Pet?”
Buffy stood back up and snapped the belt twice. Glory turned Spike around and leaned him across the bar. Buffy stalked up, slapping the belt in her hand. Buffy swung the first blow across his ass, making it look as if she was putting a lot of power in it, but really wasn’t. She swung a few more times before Glory turned him around again.
Buffy dropped to her knees again and brought her face to his. “How you doing? You want more?” At that Buffy lightly licked his lips, which made him jolt.
“Are you trying to kill me?” Spike aching with want. He was also a little embarrassed about the bra on his head.
Buffy laughed and she reached down him again, this time grasping the hem of his shirt. She pulled it up to his neck and smiled when Spike hissed at the feel of the air and her hands on his skin. She pulled the lipstick out from her waistband and proceeded to write on his skin. The crowd watching chuckled when she wrote, “I’m Buffy’s Bitch,” on his torso.
She smiled and then reached her hand under the waistband of his jeans to grab his boxers, so she could cut them off him. She was surprised to find that he went commando; she didn’t notice before.
Suddenly, Buffy felt herself being roughly hauled up by her hair. “You Bitch!”
Buffy had been so immersed in what she had been doing, she had not noticed that Harmony had snuck up behind her.
“Spike’s mine! How dare you touch him!” Buffy didn’t have any chance to say or do anything before Harmony threw her from the bar, causing Buffy to crack her head against the wall.
Spike had ripped the bra from his head and rushed to where Buffy lay unconscious. “What the bloody hell is wrong with you, woman!”
Cordy glared angrily at the young woman. “Get out. You are disqualified from this competition and banned from this establishment.”
“Buffy!” Faith pushed her way through the crowd and hopped over the bar. “B! You all right?”
“She’s unconscious.” Spike looked up at Faith with concern. He removed his hand from the back of her head, feeling sticky. “She’s bleeding. We need to get her to a hospital. I’ll take her.”
“Dude, I’ve seen what you’ve been drinking tonight. No way, but you can help me carry her out of here.”
Spike nodded and gathered Buffy up in his arms. She seemed so frail and fragile to him at that moment and it scared the shit out of him.
