Chapter Seven
Faith whistled a tune that popped into her head, making her way up to her own room. No one was home, except for the servants, her parents were out at some benefit party and would probably be gone for the rest of the night. Not that it made any different. She shed her jacket and tossed it into the walk-in closet, not bothering to hang it up.
It was a good night, worth skipping anything that she originally planed for the afternoon. She had expected Kathryn to play a role, to pretend to be the sweetest girl, that or be a complete bitch persona and declined her offer for a ride, not that it was an offer, it was more like a request and demand, that alone surprised her. Then the smaller brunette seemed to let go of what she thought she should be while they bickered and bantered throughout the afternoon. It was fun, as Kathryn had said.
It was worth skipping the training for, besides she could always make that up on Saturday afternoon for it, she didn’t think her sensei would have problem. Not when she showed up practically five days a week, like it was her requirement. No, that wasn’t her requirement, not in the educational sense, but she enjoyed it, to train until every part of her body ache, to sweat it all out, and it had help with her sanity ever since she started. Made her less reckless less prone to fly at the seat of her pants and calm her down. A good thing all around.
Rested her hand over her shirt pocket, Faith smiled at the quiet rustled sound of a piece of paper inside. Kathryn had given her the numbers to her private line and her cellphone. It was nothing much really, she could’ve gotten them some other way, it wasn’t difficult, especially seeing how popular the other girl was. But she hadn’t wanted to, it was much better to get it from the owner of it than from someone else. It was like an acknowledgement that they were, more or less, on the same wavelength.
And after tonight Faith was pretty sure that they were dating.
Pulling out the piece of paper that had been neatly folded, Faith walked over to her desk, the surface had been cleaned and the books arranged, but her notebook was there, her computer set to the side of the large corner station and she put the paper carefully next to the keyboard, made mental note to write them down in her address book and save the numbers on her cellphone.
Faith started to strip as she made her way across the room to her bathroom. Once inside she turned on the shower and stripped completely nude while the room was filling up with steam from the shower. She looked at herself in the full length mirror, noting off handedly how many people would fine her attractive and smirked.
Oh yeah, I’m on fire. Faith snickered at the thought then entered the shower stall.

“If you don’t think I can’t possibly win, why won’t you agree to a bet? I mean if you’re that sure then it’s an easy win.”
“Because I am not interested.” Kathryn tossed over her shoulder dismissively while making her way down the stairs, buttoning up her navy blue, school sweater, making sure that the collar of her white button-up open just right.
It had been almost a week after she had that first ‘date’ with Faith Spencer, though they had been talking, after school and on the phone everyday after, they had yet to gone out again. Sebastian had been after her about the date ever since she got back, not that he knew it was a date and whom it was that she went out with, he only knew that it was a girl, and that was only because he was watching.
And he had been baiting her about Faith, saying he could get her in the sack with him. She gave him her piece of mind on that topic and left it at that. The boy did not seem to understand, or if he did, he was doing a great job of ignoring everything she had said to him.
He had challenged her, baiting her into making a wager on that, she told him what she thought and now he would not stop trying to make a bet with her.
Will the annoyance ever cease? Kathryn wondered, it’s been a week for crying out loud and he’s still at it.
“Come on, Kathryn.”
God, dog with a bone.
“Give it a rest, ‘Bastian.” She rolled her eyes and got into her limo, letting the driver close the door after her, ended of conversation. She watched him puffing as the car pulled away.
Sebastian stood and watched the limo pulled into the early morning traffic, something about the way his step-sister was responding to his baiting was out of the norm. They had had a lot of bets in the past; mostly it was of the same ole thing, and never once she said no, especially when he was on a mission for her to accept like this.
Kathryn had been acting quite odd lately, she went out less with her normal group of friends, didn’t go out for some ‘playtime’ with her boy toys. Instead she spent her time in her room, and from the sound of it, on the phone. He was curious as to what she was doing, if there was something new with her that she wasn’t sharing with him.
Walking back into the house and headed for the garage to get his own car, another one of his prize possession, 1956 Jaguar Roadster, he still couldn’t shake the frustration that he felt at not being able to get Kathryn to go along with his wager. But it didn’t matter; he’d go ahead with his own plan anyway. Sebastian slipped into his car and started it up, as soon as the door cleared he sped out, ignoring the sound of tires screeching behind him, instead he went over his plan for Faith Spencer.
As an after thought he picked up the phone and pressed speed dial, wait a few moments for the click indicated that someone had picked up.
“Hello, Aunt Helen?” He said sweetly. "It's Sebastian."
