Hey guys, I’m back. Sorry for the long delay but real life had me bad the last few days. I am glad the new chapter is finished and I hope you like it. And don’t whine because of the cliffhanger. I told you it was coming. *laughs* Thank you again for all the lovely reviews, I am so glad you still like the story. They really kinda make my day. But now enough with me talking or better writing here, you had to wait long enough. Go on, enjoy it!
Hugs to all!

This Kind of Lonely
Chapter 7: What the…
Buffy woke to the feeling that the bed was shaking. She couldn’t remember it being a water bed and with those thoughts her still foggy mind wasn’t helping at all. She tried to open her eyes but they didn’t obey her commands. She had always been a bad morning person. She didn’t like getting up in the morning at all.
“Five more minutes…” she muttered almost too quiet for anybody to hear.
“Come on sleepyhead, rise and shine, I made you breakfast” she heard a definitely male voice say. Suddenly her eyes flew open and she stared right back into Spike’s blue like the ocean ones.
“Ahhh” she shrieked full of surprise and simultaneously tried to sit up in the bed out of habit and shock. She didn’t remember her injury in that particular situation and so she didn’t succeed in her task but fell out of the bed. She landed on the floor with a resounding thud and a loud “Ouch”.
“Oh my god, Buffy, I am so sorry” Spike was next to her not a second later trying to cradle her into his arms “I … I didn’t want to scare you. I am so sorry…” he kept on ranting.
As the pain slowly subsided Buffy’s mind started working again and the absurdity of the situation presented itself to her in all its glory. So she started to laugh wholeheartedly which left Spike with some sort of dumbfounded look on his face. He gently lifted her up from the ground and laid her back onto the bed.
“What’s so funny, pet?” he queried.
“You…us…falling…everything” she tried to say between laughing and trying to keep her lungs working. She had tears in her eyes when she finally was able to get a hold on her laughing and she was glad that she still could breathe after the laugh attack.
“I can’t seem to take part in the laugh-fest as it was a stupid mistake made by me to endanger your safety, but if you say so…” Spike muttered.
“Oh come on” Buffy had to giggle again “I’m a big girl. I’m not made out of sugar. I don’t break if I fall out of the bed. Now be a good boy and tell me what you were doing in my bed anyways” Buffy queried with a laughing glint in her eye.
She somehow felt light hearted. The last evening had really been nice and Spike turned out to be more fun than she ever had thought. She didn’t know if she could keep up her hate towards him and what he did any longer on the face of what he tried to do to make her feel better and honestly she didn’t even want to anymore. She somehow liked him but she wouldn’t make it easy for him. A bit of punishment never did anybody wrong. She suddenly thought about what drugs Giles might have given her…
“Well, I made you breakfast and tried to wake you up. But you didn’t respond so I tried to “shake” you up, which obviously went wrong” he still couldn’t let it go.
“Okay, stop it now” Buffy had changed into business voice in a heartbeat “nothing happened so you don’t need to make an elephant out of it. I fell, I had a good laugh, and now I’m up. I’d say mission accomplished” her smile returned towards the end of her speech.
“I am still sorry, but I am grateful for you not killing me right now” Spike smirked a bit.
“Like I would…so about breakfast, let’s return to the important part, give it” she had to laugh again and this time Spike laughed with her. He liked this version of Buffy much more than the version he used to know. He somehow didn’t understand why and how her opinion towards him and his persona had changed about 180 degrees in only 20 hours, but who would he be to argue. He thought she herself wouldn’t even know and pushed those thoughts away.
So they spent the rest of the morning hours talking and laughing about everything and nothing until Buffy had finished her breakfast to his likings.
============================================================
Cordelia Chase, personal assistant of one William “Spike” Wellings, entered the house around 11 o’clock. She went straight for Buffy’s room and stopped in the open door. She had to smile when she saw Spike sitting next to Buffy on her bed trying to tell her why the European version of football, by the name soccer, was so much better and so much more manly than her American version. She wouldn’t take anything from him and so it was fun to watch. They argued forth and back and nobody seemed to be able to convince the respective other. After a few minutes Cordy had laughed enough and made her presence known by lightly knocking on the heavy wooden door.
“Well, well, well guess who it is. Queen Cordelia honors us with her godly presence” Spike’s voice dripped from sarcasm but he never lost the laughing smirk.
“Hi Cordy” Buffy greeted already looking forward to Spike’s obvious surrender to Cordelia’s unbeatable sharp tongue.
“Hi Buffy” Cordy deliberately ignored Spike “I’m so glad you’re still alive. I had a bad feeling about leaving you alone with the Bleached Wonder. I hope you aren’t mad at me…”
“Hey you stupid bint” she was interrupted by Spike “first of all there’s no need to be mean and second you owe me 135 dollars.”
“Whow Mister, now you’re getting into deep water” Cordy countered “it is not my fault that you aren’t around to feed us two girls properly and if I remember correctly expense is a part of my contract, so stop whining around and get lost.”
“Um…Cordy…Spike let me fall out of the bed this morning…” Buffy delivered her part for the conversation and had a hard time to not give a repeating performance of that laugh attack she had in the early morning.
“Hey…that’s not fair…” Spike started but was interrupted by Cordelia tugging at his ear.
“You WHAT?” her voice now definitely louder than before “I leave you alone for 10 hours and you throw her out of the bed? I can’t believe it, don’t you think you have done enough injuries to her?”
“Ouch, let go of me” Spike tried to release his ear from Cordy’s death grip but didn’t succeed “stop it, I didn’t throw her…she fell”
But Cordelia would have none of it and so she shoved him over to the open door and placed him in the hallway. “Go and learn how to behave Spike” Cordelia told him before she slammed the door into his face and left him on his own. Spike heard that Buffy was now fully laughing and left for the living room all the while cursing about unbearable women and what should be done with them.
============================================================
One hour later Spike heard someone knocking at the door in his study and called for him to come in. The door opened and Buffy was rolled into the room by Cordelia.
“What do you two unbearable ones want this time?” Spike asked slightly annoyed.
“We’re going out shopping” Cordelia announced “so call a nice taxi that can transport a wheelchair and give us money.”
“Come again” Spike thought he misheard her.
“Taxi, money, now” Cordy pronounced each word slowly.
“Are you off your rocks?” Spike asked, staring unbelievingly at her.
“No, and now be fast, we only have three hours left before we have to return for Buffy’s daily physiotherapy” determination thy name is Cordelia Chase.
“Why would I let you take Buffy out of here in her state and even more important why would I finance such a journey?” Spike queried in a calm voice. This whole situation somehow seemed kind of surreal to him. Like Hidden Camera or something alike. Buffy was laughing hard sitting in her wheelchair trying to get some well needed oxygen and Cordelia looked at him like she wouldn’t expect him to argue anymore.
“Because” Cordelia drawled “you were mean to me when I arrived and more importantly because you threw Buffy out of the bed this morning. Take it as kind of an apology to us…”
“What? I wasn’t mean and I didn’t...” he couldn’t go on when Cordelia suddenly stood next to him and had her hand back at his ear.
“Hey…” he yelped and jumped out of his chair to protect himself from more humiliation. Cordelia had the decency to sit down and pull out one of Spike’s Platinum Master Cards from one of the drawers. She then stood back up and pulled out her cell phone and called for a taxi.
“Thank you Spike, you are so generous” Cordelia smiled at him and Buffy gave him a small wink still laughing when the two of them left his home office.
Spike still stood in the corner he had fled into upon Cordy’s impending punishment five minutes after the ladies had left the house. He still tried to get a grip on how she got him again. He couldn’t understand why he couldn’t defend himself against her. She always bested him and it seriously drove him insane. If he wouldn’t like her that much he was sure she would be looking for a new job right now but because he did she could get away with such stunts. So he was left with shaking his head over the bossy girl and returning to his work. “Someday” he thought “someday I’ll get my revenge, whenever that’ll be…”
============================================================
Three hours later the front door opened and Cordelia and Buffy entered the house. They were chattering about something they had seen on the shopping spree and totally lost in themselves. Spike entered the hallway from the living room where he had been watching TV. He saw the taxi driver entering the hallway loaded to the top with shopping bags carrying the names of some very up to date and very expensive boutiques. Spike jogged after the two girls down the hallway right into Buffy’s room.
“Are you insane?” he queried without so much as a ‘hello’.
“Hello to you too my dear Spike…” Cordelia smiled at him.
“Cut the crap” somehow he didn’t like the smile on her face “how much did you spend?”
Cordelia turned her head to look at Buffy who had to laugh again. She returned her gaze to Spike. “Well let’s just say I wouldn’t use that card anytime soon” she answered his question. When she saw that he fetched his breath to say something she quickly added “I have to go now, be nice and take care of Buffy until Riley arrives. And don’t throw her out of the bed again, I will be back in the morning. Have a nice evening the two of you…” and with those words she was out of the door.
“Spike” Buffy called between breaths she still had to catch from laughing right before Spike started to run after Cordy.
“Yeah?” he queried while turning around to look at her.
“She’s just messing with you. Don’t take it too serious” she answered still smiling.
“Care to explain?”
“We never used your credit card. She just wanted to freak you out. We paid it with our own ones, I am sorry, I know it was kind of mean but it was so damn funny…” she had to laugh again at the priceless look on his face.
Spike suddenly snapped out of his anger as he realized the situation and a totally different thought crossed his mind. He advanced towards the bed Buffy was laying on, a predatory smirk on his face.
When Buffy finally stopped laughing she suddenly found Spike sitting right next to her on the bed. His blue eyes held an evil glint and somehow she knew that whatever was coming next wouldn’t be pretty.
“So” Spike drawled “you thought it was funny, now didn’t you?” he queried. Buffy thought it would be best not to answer at all because any answer would be wrong in this situation. It turned out that nothing would have been right when Spike’s hands suddenly started poking her sides and she had to giggle due to the merciless tickling.
“Now you see” Spike continued his speech in a clam voice as well as his tickling “I always wondered if every woman out there is ticklish as hell and I seem to believe that you won’t do anything to disprove this little theory of mine.”
“Ahh…stop it… I can’t take it anymore” Buffy yelled between giggles.
“Say uncle” Spike demanded not lessening his efforts on one ticklish girl.
“Never…” she protested.
“Your decision” Spike commented before he took his perfected tickling technique to a higher level.
“Uncle, uncle, uncle “Buffy yelled when she seriously couldn’t take it anymore. She thought she might die if he wouldn’t stop.
“See, wasn’t that hard, was it?” he smiled at her and Buffy thought about some evil ways to pay him back.
“You are so not funny if you aren’t the one messed around with” she said with a small pout.
“Oh look” he said mocking her mimic “now she has to pout.”
“I’ll get you mister” she countered still smiling “wait till I get to use my legs again, then you are in for a serious tickling marathon” she mock threatened.
“Okay on the face of your wrath, what do you say I’ll make it up to you?” he asked smiling.
“Tell me about what you have in mind and I decide whether it’s enough or not” she answered.
“Well I thought about making you some dinner and perhaps about a repeating performance form the night before and afterwards taking you out in the park to show you the stars and the city from the gardens outside” Spike said.
Buffy contemplated his idea for a moment before she answered.
“Only if I get to decide what movie we’ll watch…”
“Okay” Spike answered before his brain could fire up and mentally slapped himself. Now he again would have to watch one of those girly movies.
“So we have a date” he stated while leaving for the door.
“Hey…what…it’s not date” Buffy tried to counter but Spike was already gone and she only found Riley standing in the door smiling at her.
“I know” he answered still smiling “but we had an appointment…” he let the sentence unfinished.
Buffy couldn’t deny the feeling that Riley was messing with.
“Hi Riley, stop messing with me” she informed him and Riley had to laugh in earnest.
“You know you’re kind of cute when you pout?” he kept on.
“I have to ask Giles to get me a new physiotherapist” she talked to herself loud enough for him to hear.
“Okay, okay” Riley said still laughing “I’ll stop. Let’s get on with the exercises…”
============================================================
Spike walked down the hallway to Buffy’s room one hour later a tray with dinner in his hands. He had been cooking for the last sixty minutes and hoped Buffy would approve of his ‘Pasta Speciale’. Sure he could have ordered something but he liked cooking and also kind of wanted to impress her. Things were so much better between them now and Spike slowly started to recognize the feelings inside his chest. It felt like back in high school when he had met Cecily. The slight flirting always floating through the air and everything. It felt kinda romantic. Spike reached the open door to Buffy’s bedroom and suddenly all his previous thoughts went down the spoken drain when he looked inside and found Buffy and Riley sharing a kiss.
“What the…” was his only thought.
