The phone rang only once before the redhead answered. "Hi, Buffy!" she spoke into the receiver.
"Hey, Wills. I am getting predictable, aren't I?" the slayer said on the other end.
"Just a little bit. Not having other female friends to gossip with helps a lot in the predicting." She blushed even though nobody could see her.
Willow got comfortable on her bed before she asked. "So, did Michael get you home safely?"
"Yep and then he stayed for dinner. It was… nice."
[[Flashback]]
"Thank you for the wonderful dinner, Joyce." Michael shouted towards the kitchen where Joyce had been hiding away doing the dishes as an excuse to get away from them.
He understood why but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't stop doing it. It being flirting with the beautiful blonde in front of him. All throughout dinner she had teased him, taunted him and railed him in. From the sharp barbs about his fighting style to the teases about his soul and the side glances to this face when he was talking to Joyce. Buffy was sending out all the signals of finding him very attractive. Now, as far as he knew, he hadn't seen anything even remotely resembling a boyfriend. Sure, Xander would jump at the chance but he was definitely 'just' a very good friend.
As the dinner progressed Joyce became tired of their flirtation and he had cut the diner short after desert not wanting to antagonize the mother of a woman he wanted to 'court'. Ponce
Joyce had soon fled to the kitchen leaving Buffy to see him out. That was where he found himself now. Standing in front of the opened door with the most beautiful, sharp minded and feisty creature he was sure he had ever met even if he couldn't remember it.
As he turned his head back to her after saying goodbye to Joyce, he noticed that her playful and seductive behavior of the previous hours had melted like snow in the sun. Now she was fidgeting and avoiding his eyes.
Michael was already preparing himself for a gentle let down when he heard her softly say: "I really enjoyed tonight."
He did a double take of the sentence in his mind before he answered her. "I did too." That's when she looked up towards him with large green almost black eyes and her lips slightly parted. Her entire face alight with the soft lights from inside the house and the rays of the full moon beaming down on them. There was no way any male be him human, demon or angel could resist this.
"I am going to kiss you now," he murmured just before his lips reached hers. The silk smooth surface of her lips was a sweet sensation only heightened by the push of the plumpness of said lips against his. Her tongue came out as he opened his mouth to do the same. She tasted like the cranberries they had for desert and something very female.
And then suddenly she was gone, leaving him standing alone on the porch.
[[/Flashback]]
Willow was intrigued. Buffy was hardly ever at a loss for words but now she sounded shy and unwilling to speak. Willow had picked up at the natural attraction between the slayer and Michael and now she was calling dinner with him nice. This was definitely cause for the best friend's alarm bells to ring.
"Nice, huh?!"
"What?"
"Nothing."
"All right, I give! He kissed me when we said goodbye and I liked it." Buffy blurted out.
"That's all?"
"Will, I am not supposed to like kissing other guys than Angel. Remember the whole I am pinning away 'cause I can't be with the one I love."
"Just because you love someone that doesn't mean you can't be attracted to anyone else. It said so in my dad's 'Psychology of the Marriage' book."
"Will!" Buffy said in mocked shock. "Anyway it's not the attraction I am worried about. I mean, I'm not blind, the man looks yummy but I really like him as in really really like him."
"And?"
"And? I really really like Angel, too." She groaned into the phone putting a hand to her forehead. "God, I am a pervert!"
"No, you are not!"
"Did you get on board with the Buffy wants to mack two guys train? I'd say that's pretty perverted."
"Well the internet doesn't say so. There are tons of sites about people who love two other people and live with them. Even my dad's book had two chapters about it."
Buffy fell silent at that. Her friend helped her out.
"You know what you need to do is stop fussing about it. Just go with the flow and who knows what might happen. Just get a good night's rest and I am sure you will see things more clearly tomorrow."
"Sheez, Will. When did you get so grownup about this stuff?"
"Well after the vampires, the grownup stuff was really easy."
"So true," Buffy smiled into the phone.
"Good night, Will."
"Good night, Buff."
