New Beginnings (Conclusion)
~One Week Later~
Buffy and Giles stood in the courtyard watching as the last of the demons passed through a portal and disappeared back to there Underworld. Turning she saw Sasha walking toward her.
The Blue demons face was blacked with soot, an honorary symbol of grief for those that had fallen in the battle. Forty-one slayers, seventy demons and one skin walker.
Sighing she looked over at the house hidden beneath a canopy of trees…no one from that house had left since they had all made there way home a week before. Only for the funerals…Buffy hugged herself tighter, trying to fight of another wave of tears at the thought of Skye dead.
Looking up when she saw Sasha standing before her. “You’re leaving.” It was a statement…not a question.
“Yes, it is time for us to leave.” Sasha looked down and studied the ground. Reaching into her jacket she pulled out a small amulet. “If you and your people ever need my help again…hold this to the moon and call for me. I will come.”
Buffy nodded and limply took the necklace. “Have a safe journey Sasha…thank you.”
The two leaders hesitantly stepped forward and traded awkward hugs. Stepping back Sasha smiled and held her hand out to Giles.
Smiling Giles reached forward and carefully grasped Sasha hand and gave it a quick jerk. “Right, you bloody well take care of yourself now.”
“I will Mr. Giles.” Sasha said softly stepping back she turned and looked back to the house…catching sight of a lone figure she didn’t have to concentrate to know it was Kennedy.
They had said there goodbye the night before…sighing sadly Sasha stepped back, and with one final nod she turned and walked to the large portal.
Stopping one last time, she turned back…looking out at the faces that had become so familiar she smiled and stepped through.

Ryan lay on the floor in there room…her room. She couldn’t bear to bring herself to lie in the bed. It smelled too much like Skye…everything did. Curling tighter into a ball she tried not to cry. This last week had been hell…she couldn’t bring herself to go to the funeral…so instead she snuck out every night and walked to the small grave.
Sitting up she wiped tears from her eyes and leaned back against the wall. Staring listlessly…she gently palmed her growing stomach…now a slight pooch. Leaning back she looked over at her bag of medications…the battle to just stop taking the pills and join her mate warred the one that insisted she protect her baby.
Looking up when Remy hesitantly peeked into the room and upon seeing her walked in and shut the door. Sitting down he scooted closer and wrapped his skinny arms around her.
“I’m so sorry Ryan.”
Turning away she stopped fighting tears and let her brother hold her while she shook.

Giles stepped into his living room and looked down at the small brown parcel resting on his coffee table. Walking over he picked up the small box and carefully unwrapped it.
Taking off the small post it stuck to the top, picking it up he read
‘Dear Giles,
I hope this finds you well, I did some digging and according to the files this is the antidote to Ryan’s condition.
Hope all is well,
Angel
Smiling Giles laid the box on the table and peeled open the lid. Reaching in he pulled out the small vials of purple serum he carefully tucked the vials into his pocket. Making a special note to deliver them to Vikki as soon as possible.

“Push…come on…PUSH.” Faith gingerly held the younger girls hand as Vikki guided her through the motions of child birth. It had been a long and painfully delivery, already stretching on thirty two hours…
Looking down she watched as a long shuddering push went through her, and Vikki smiled and held up the squirming child.
“It’s a girl” Vikki smiled down at Kennedy who slumped down and smiled at her small daughter being handing over to Andrew while Willow swiftly cut the cord and turned and smiled happily down at the slayer.
“She’s beautiful Ken” Willow gushed happily following Andrew out of the room to go help him clean the infant.
“Is she okay?” Ryan asked softly, walking into the room juggling the older of her twins, a son named Adrian. Her daughter Taryn was still sleeping in the next room, surprising because of all the screaming Kennedy had been doing…seriously she hadn’t screamed that badly when she had given birth.
“Im fine. The baby’s fine…right?” Kennedy asked Vikki, who smiled softly and finished the initial after birth cleanup.
Willow walked back into the room cradling the tiny child, “She looks like you Kennedy.” Willow said softly as she bent and handed the squirming infant off to its mother.
Kennedy reached out and took her baby, cradling her close she peeled back the blanket and began inspecting her tiny baby, ten fingers, ten toes…two small ears, gray eyes…running a ringer over the child’s forehead she frowned…puzzled. She could feel two tiny bumps under the skin on either side of the child’s forehead. Horns…just like her other mother.
Smiling she looked down, so entranced she didn’t hear Faith talking to her until she had called her name for the third time. “What?” Kennedy asked, looking up, seeing knowing looks from every parent in the room.
“What’s her name?” Faith asked gently, reaching out to feel the downy hair over the child’s skull. Small brown curls…
“Sheridan. Her name is Sheridan.” Kennedy said. Smiling down at her new daughter.

Buffy walked into her home and stretched, looking down as Axel ran past her excitedly, followed closely by Brigitte she didn’t even care enough to tell them to slow down.
Turning she sat down beside her mate who was leaned forward watching the channel 5 news intently. “What’s on today?”
“Buffy…what’s epidemic mean?” Lonnie asked softly. Buffy frowned confusingly at her mate.
“It’s a sickness…a massive…breakout like where everyone’s sick…why?”
“Because the lady on TV has said it a couple times in the last hour.” Lonnie said quietly, not looking away from the screen.
Buffy turned and stared at the screen intently, listening to what the news anchor was saying.
“In today’s news the growing epidemic has spread to the greater Tri-state area…claiming twenty one victims in less than month. The source of this virus and the cure are still unknown. But authorities have now ordered that everyone in the infected areas remain indoors and report any of the following symptoms, nauseous, cramps, red eyes, nose bleeds, abnormal growths on the forehead and elongated canines. The virus seems to be carried through touch and blood to blood contact…
Buffy turned and stared in abject horror, a virus? Abnormal growths? Long canines? Day vampires…
