Knocking down doors

Kennedy stood beside Coop in the back of the library while everyone talked and argued over the best course of action.

Some wanted to go in guns blazing, figuratively of course…if they ever actually used guns Kennedy would be amazed, looking over at the tall angelic looking woman Kennedy had to smile, Coop wasn’t what you would expect for ‘Cupid’ she was a smartass and well she honestly dressed like some sort of punk reject, today she was in washed out holey jeans and a black t-shirt completed with matching leather wrists cuffs. Her hair was short, only about three inches long and was spiked. Honestly she almost looked like Spike.

Kennedy sighed in boredom and went back to studying to scoobs, it had been years since she had been here, her painful breakup with Willow had driven her away, facing the fact that they loved each other but no longer like that had been painful…of course now that she was actually back she wasn’t so sure she didn’t love the witch anymore.

Her travels around Africa and South America had been lengthy and she loved every second of the constant rush and slaying. But now she was here…in northern Buffalo New York and so much had changed.

Seriously there hadn’t been a blip on her gander about Buffy, and here she was lesbian lover and all…course seeing Skye all grown up was a shock. She had been barely thirteen when she had left and now here she was with a mate of her own. Honestly…she would never really get the whole skin walker dynamic.

Now she just wanted to leave but she was one of the older slayers and therefore needed here at this meeting. She didn’t get why they didn’t just ask Jaeger where this tiger was living and go in and destroy it and him. There ya go…in out and back home by dinner.

‘Oh well…there show not mine’ Leaning back against the wall of the library she tried not to glare to hard at the strawberry blonde doctor that was sitting beside her ex lover.

Skye had been sitting beside Ryan, daydreaming about there baby when she had heard the words ‘Ryan’ and ‘blood’ in the same sentence and she turned and decided to start paying attention to what it was Giles was saying.

“Well take four transfusions and put them into hollow arrow heads to use as secondary weapons in case Ryan cannot take out Tyrell herself.”

“Whoa Giles…Ryan’s not fighting “Skye said, choosing to ignore the mildly pissed look from her mate.

“I understand your concern Skye but she IS the Protector” Giles pressed seriously.

Skye glared back at her surrogate grandfather “I don’t care. She’s not fighting.”

“Babe...” Ryan began, trying to ease the sudden tension she sensed in her mate.

“No…no buts Ryan…not NOW” Skye said looking pointedly at the tigers stomach. They had been putting off telling everyone there baby news; no point in everyone worrying over nothing…of course that may have to get fast forwarded if Skye didn’t calm down.

“Skye…she’s the Protector.” Giles began when Sasha interrupted him much to her sister’s annoyance.

“Actually she’s not…not anymore. Her blood is still vital but well…things have changed a bit and now its someone else….don’t ask…I don’t know” Sasha ignored the slightly painful; mental probes that Coop was sending her.

“Well then….Ryan you’re not fighting.” Raya said firmly. She was the only one aside from Skye who could issue some order like that. She wasn’t sure why Skye was so set against Ryan fighting but honestly…her suspected her misadventure of stumbling on Ryan eating bananas and feta cheese at three in the morning ha something to do with it.

Two hours later it was agreed that Buffy and Sasha would go to where this Initiative facility was said to be and investigate without being caught of course. Easier said than done…

Standing in the woods just outside the hidden entrance Buffy crouched down beside Sasha and studied the layout, she was sure that that was the entrance over by the jagged rock face. Sighing she looked over at Sasha who looked more concerned with the local wildlife than the ‘mission’

“You know it WOULD help if you were a tad more focused on the job.” Buffy said curtly, Sasha turned to the slayer and arched her eyebrow.

“If this were a challenge then yes I would be concerned…however I am half God and ruler of the Underworld…if they piss me off…I will kill them. May as well anyway to be honest.” Sasha added quickly at the mildly horrified look on Buffy’s face.

Turning back she sighed and stood. Sasha followed her closely; turning around a corner the slayer brushed aside strategically placed vines and shrubs, revealing the well hidden door.

“Well…want to see what’s behind door number one?” Buffy quipped sarcastically before grasping the handle and pulling as hard she could to the left the entire time the mantra of ‘lefty lossey, righty tighty.’ Running through her head.

That damned handle didn’t budge. Stepping back she studied the door and then saw the offline key card reader. “It’s automatic.” Buffy said simply looking back she saw Sasha stepping back, watching the demon closely she realized her friend was trying to get as far away from the door…why would she do that?

“Step back Buffy…were getting in.” Sasha said determined, raising both her hands she felt the magi sizzle through her veins and in less than five seconds she had to large balls of energy humming around her hands.

Releasing it they both were thrown back a couple feet when the blast blew the door and a nice chunk of the wall away as well. Buffy and Sasha stepped forward into the hallway of the Initiative…standing as still as she could Buffy took a moment to study the layout of this facility.

They both walked further and further down the hallway, confused more and more when no alarms sounded…neither of there senses were telling them they weren’t the only occupants…where was everyone?

Turning Buffy stared at a vacant holding cell stepping in she ran her hands over the smooth surface of the wall and looked around curiously. Stepping out she and Sasha kept walking.

“Looks like they left in a hurry” Sasha said quietly as she crouched down ad studied the dust off the floor. Standing she wiped it onto her jeans and followed the blonde who was several feet ahead.

After spending most of the night wandering the halls neither woman was any closer to locating anything that would tell them who was in charge and how long the place had been running right under there noses…the Initiative had improved on the stealthy front. That was for sure.

Buffy stopped in front of a door that read ‘level four’…haven’t been down this one yet. Reaching out she jiggled the handle, it was locked. Huh…seemed to be the only door in the place that WAS locked. Turning to Sasha “Can you open it?” Buffy knew she could but it was pretty cool to see Sasha shoot those energy blasts.

Stepping back she watched as Sasha held her hand over the handle and shot a small blast. Effectively blowing the door wide open, both girls stepped closer and looked down the doorway, a long stretch of stairs led down into the darkness.

“Why do I get the feeling were going to regret this?” Buffy whispered. Sasha looked over and grinned at the slayer.

“Life’s to short for regrets slayer, least for you mortals it is.” She smirked at the small frown that Buffy got at that.

“Well…don’t let me stop you.” Buffy quipped, making a wide sweeping gesture to the stairwell. Smiling when the demon sighed and stepped down onto the stairs and flipped a switch on the wall beside her. They both stared as fluorescent lights lit up systematically and as Buffy stepped in they looked at each other nervously and walked down the stairs.

Once they reached the bottom Buffy turned to see that the main doorway was still open, it was. Turning she saw Sasha testing out each door that spanned the hallway. This level reminded Buffy of the holding rooms at the school.

Stepping toward a door she was apprehensive when it opened so easily. “This ones open” She said, wafting for Sasha to turn and join her both women stepped into the room.

Staring at the sight before them Buffy couldn’t quite take in what was all over the walls. Weapons…lots and lots of Initiative weapon. Guns, grenades, and many odd looking devices that seemed to target demons specifically.

Stepping forward Buffy carefully picked up a large hunting knife, turning back to the demon they both froze in time to see the door closing,

Jumping from the sudden sharp clack of the door locking into place, they both looked at each other in horror.

Sasha walked to the door and haled her hand up to it, Buffy knew she was trying to generate an energy blast but for some reason she couldn’t.

Buffy stepped up and taking a deep breath kicked the door so hard she went flying back when it didn’t budge. Dazed Buffy say up and looked up at her demon friend.

“Well sports…looks like were here awhile.”
