Smoothing the brownish page down Xander looked closely at the watercolor portrait of a smokey eyed woman with long black hair. At the bottom of the picture was a name written in silver. Ann Riverton.
Mari leaned over the table to look along with Xander. “That’s the creator of the book! The first River witch! And look under her name is the first spell she did! A healing spell.”
“By the powers of the sun, the moon, and the stars, women, men, Venus, and Mars-“
“Don’t say it out loud! Accidental casting of spells make a real mess of a witches free time! Some witches were caught and burned at the stake for something silly like reading spells aloud from their magic books!” Mari frowned. “And that spell is a very powerful healing spell! Depending on your mind set you could heal deadly deceases or turn an old man into a baby! A River witch named Aggie-something used that spell during the dark ages! I heard it saved a lot of people!”
Xander traced over the silvery writing. “Does it update itself or something? When I learn something new will it?”
Mari shook her head no. “It’s not a recorder! You have to write new things into it. The only thing it does on its own is not run out of paper and not let evil touch it. If you flip through it you’ll find stuff on demons, your book will be your greatest source of knowledge.”
“So where is the evil great uncle in this book?” Xander turned the pages and found everything from aura cleansing, binding potion, lust charms, balance spells, and attack spells. Xander gasped when the pages turned on their own till it was on a page with a yellow eyed old man on it. “Ok, that’s weird.”
“That’s him, that’s Sigmund Riverton! Mr. Grumpy face, the demon that wants to off you!” Mari said brightly.
“Geez! Don’t sound so happy about it!” Xander frowned.
Mari blushed. “I’m not happy about the demon after you, I’m just happy about you learning so quick. Getting to know your book and all.”
Xander looked the picture over, the demon didn’t look all that scary, just a grey haired old man with a round nose, caveman brow, and dark narrowed eyes. She studied the warlock’s face till she found the demon’s name. “Varcoof`rith Zuffha? Some name!”
Mari nodded. “It sounds funny but in basic demon language it means ‘blackest dead blood’. For a man from a healers line the name makes a statement.”
“I guess.” Xander was going to read over all the info on Varcoof when she spotted Felix heading their way with two plates. Xander snapped the book closed and put it face down in her lap.
“Here you go ladies, chocolate silk pie. On the house!”
Xander blinked when the big wedge of chocolate pie with a mountain of whipping cream on top of it was placed in front of her. It looked like half the pie was on her plate. “Thank you Felix . . . it looks delicious.”
The waiter/cook smiled brightly. “Thanks, enjoy!” Then Felix shifted from foot to foot a pensive look on his face. He opened and closed his mouth but no words came out then he closed his eyes and took a breath. “I was wondering . . .if you’re not busy? I mean I would- do you like going to the bars? There’s a great bar here in town called Gilly’s, it has cheap beer and good music! Maybe you two might want to . . .um come along with me and my friends tomorrow?”
Xander frowned. Out of familiar waters she wasn’t sure want she should do. Xander looked Felix over and could see that the poor guy was preparing for rejection . . .’What would Buffy do? Or Faith?’ Xander had a mental flash of Faith taking the guy up on his offer, drinking for free, using the guy as a dancing pole then leaving him high and dry. Then she had a flash of one of Buff’s nice and sweet ‘No thank you’s. Xander didn’t want to do either of those but she also didn’t want to give Felix the wrong idea. Felix is cute in a all limbs no torso way but he is not Xander’s type, not like Chris is. ‘So this is one of the troubles between men and women? Give a guy a look and he thinks it means something more.’ Xander thought back to all those times he had made a fool of himself falling over a pretty girl who had smiled at him or laughed at his jokes. “Sure, sounds cool. I could use a beer or two.”
“Cool. I could pick you girls up at your place or meet you here?” Felix gave them a bright smile.
Mari frowned for a second she could swear the Felix’s eyes changed from brown to red. Maybe it was just the play of the sun light enhancing the color? “I don’t think we can go. We have work. Training an stuff!”
Felix’s smile fell. “Oh. That’s ok. Maybe I might see you around?”
Xander shrugged, witchy stuff did come first. “Maybe. Thanks.”
Mari watched Felix head back into the kitchen then she turned to Xander with a roll of her eyes. “You do know we don’t have time for dating and stuff right? There’s a demon after you!”
“I’m from the hellmouth. Demon’s are an everyday thing.” Xander took a bite of her pie and rolled it around in her mouth, it tasted good but there was some odd aftertaste. “Do you taste lemon in your pie?”
Mari blinked. “Lemon? No.”
“It just has an odd taste.”

Felix watched the two girls from his spot through a hole in the wall and grinned his eyes flashing a deep blood red. “Hope you like the potion witch.” Felix shimmered out of the diner and reappeared in a dark cave full of herbs and potion bottles.
“Did you give the child the potion?”
Felix smirked. “Yeah, Varcoof`rith Zuffha, sir! So what does it do? Is it poison? A power zapper?”
“No. I don’t want to kill the little witch yet, I just need to block the child from finding me too soon. The potion will also keep the new witch open to a new way of thinking.” The old greying man hissed out from his spot at his work table as he mixed and stirred potions.
Felix frowned. “If you’re not going to kill her why hire demons to do it?” Felix sneered. “To weak to do it yourself? She’s a new witch, they’re easy pickings!” Felix made a small energy ball form in his hand then he started juggling it from hand to hand. He cast off his human guise for his true form and glared at the old warlock with slitted hot red eyes. He tilted his head and stepped into the light showing off fine pale scales along his cheeks. Small fins unfurled from his hair like a crown and he grinned showing off bulky fangs. “As king of my pack I live on killing witches and finding more riches for the pack! Why not just let me claw her apart?”
“Because I want to test the child. You lower demons only think about killing them, sometimes it is a waste of power. I’m getting older! My potion no longer holds back aging and still I am no closer to my goals! Why not have another just like me to find my key to great power?” Varcoof said gravely.
Felix shrugged as he force his fins back into his hair. “Just as long as I get paid I don’t care. Plenty of witches with riches for the taking! As long as I get the shiny things in life and the blood of a witch or two between my claws I’m happy to serve!”
The old man threw a small bag to the floor at the demons feet. The demon picked it up and opened it to find four beautiful rainbow colored crystals. “Four rinota crystals as promised.”
Felix grinned. “I have a possible date set up with your great grand niece. Do you mind if I try to kill her now that she’s taken her potion?”
The old man smiled making his skin stretch so thin his veins and jaw bone could be seen underneath. “Be my guest . . .*Hiss* You fight at your own risk . . .*Cough* I will not aid you or the witch in any way. I have no need for the child if she is weak.”
“Good, I’ll be back for my shiny powers! “Felix smirked as he shimmered away.
“Like you could kill my kin.” The old man let out a wet gurgled laugh then snapped his fingers and made a sheet of paper and a large clear crystal orb appear in front of him. In the orb he could see the River witch and the child’s whitelighter. “It will be quite a battle to watch . . . a horde of lesser demons vs a River witch.”
On the paper in bold letters the words ‘$90,000 or five demon powers for the River witch, dead or alive’. “The wanted posters might be a little much? Let’s see what you can do first, *cough* little witch. Let’s hope you’re not as *hiss* foolish as the rest of our line.” The old man set the orb by his caldron and went back to his potions, he needed to find the right mixture he was getting older by the minute!

They left the diner and headed for Xander’s motel, the book heavy in her hand and against her chest. Xander just wanted to dive into it and read every page. As soon as they got into her room and the door was closed Xander plopped down on the bed and pulled out the brown/red book. Xander skimmed it till she came across a page with finger prints of blood all in a row with names under it. The first name with a rust brown stain of blood was the first witch Ann Riverton. “Hey, Mari, come here and look at this.”
Mari looked over Xander’s shoulder and frowned. “What is it?”
Xander looked the page over. “It’s just called ‘The oath’. It has a lot of Riverton witch names on it. Oh! Look! Sigmund Riverton’s blood mark is all blacked out!” The demon’s name was stained brown like coffee was spilled on it and the blood mark black like the blood just burned off. Xander skimmed down the page until she found a little entry at the bottom written in small faded black letters. ~To take the oath is to make a promise to every man, woman, and child, to use our gifts for the better. As witches we have magic, as healers we have the power to cause or stop great suffering. Through the oath we are bound to help, through the oath I pass on my talent. Ann Riverton~
“Well, I’m going to go and get some training supplies. I’ll be back in a minute. Put some sweats on we’ll be working hard from the next few hours.” Mari orbed away.
“Yippy. Now I really know how Buffy feels when Giles keeps making her train.” Xander stared at the page with ‘The oath’ on it, something in Xander stirred with the need to put her mark on the paper. Pulling out a pocket knife Xander sliced her thumb just enough to make it bleed. Hesitating just for a second Xander pressed her thumb down on the paper and watched her name appear under it. Alexander ‘Xander’ L. H. Riverton. Xander scuffed. “The book can’t even write my name right.” Xander was about to put the book away when dizziness overcame her. Xander collapsed to the ground as a wealth of family healing knowledge flooded her mind, each bit of new info crashed around like steel pinballs in a glass shop. Xander groaned and curled up into a little ball.
“I’m back, Xanny!” Mari appeared in the room wearing blue sweats and carrying two yoga mats. Mari gasped, dropped the mats, and ran to Xander’s side. “Xander? Xander are you all right?”
“My head hurts?”
“Why?”
“The book.” Xander curled up tighter, everything was just spinning! Every thought was full of ways to sooth magic burns, what potion would be good for fever, and how to fix toxic hex, and with every healing tip Xander could see the ways she could use it to hurt, she could keep someone alive for months to suffer using her magic. Xander now had the healing knowledge of all the oath takers including Sigmund’s black art. Xander now had the hidden knowledge of the River line, everything that was too important to put into the books protection as written words.
Mari read over the book then frowned. “You shouldn’t have done that! We don’t know what it does!”
“I know now!” Xander groaned as she tried to sit up.
“What’s wrong? Why does your head hurt? What does the spell do?”
“I know how to be a healer now, it’s all in my head! My head is all jumbled, kinda like a book that was put in the paper shredder. It’s all inside my head it’s j-just messed up!”
Mari bit at her lip. “There is only one thing that I know will help. At least I hope.”
“What?” Xander looked at Mari hopefully.
“Meditation.” Mari flipped to the next page in the River book and sighed. “You should read everything before you do something! This says you need to meditate for two days before hand and fast the day before the spell because it can cause dizziness and nausea!”
“Great.”
“We’re going to do some meditation and then some beginners yoga, we need to strengthen your mind!”
**
Xander sighed and wiped sticky sweat off her brow as she rolled up her yoga mat. Xander could say wholeheartedly that she did not like yoga and wondered why women did it? Xander stretched and could feel the burn of muscles that have been worked hard. “So are we done for the night? I feel like hitting the sack.”
Mari grinned and orbed two heavy wooden chairs into the room. “Not yet. We need to work on your active power for a bit then I’ll let you rest.”
Xander looked the square chairs over with a confused look on her face. “What are we going to do with them? More meditation?”
“Nope! You’re going to balance on them using your telekinetic power.”
**
Next day
**
Xander snuggled into her bed and was determined to just have a few minutes to herself to be lazy. Each limb ached from being overworked, sore from running, sore from learning fighting poses, sore from her first yoga lesson with Mari. Just sore from training! How Buff did it everyday Xander did not know. Xander wrapped her cheap blanket tighter around herself and groaned at the aches pounding in her muscles. ‘Yoga should be an extreme sport! Though now I know how bendy I can be!’
Today is her second day of knowing her wacky little whitelighter. “I wonder what purple head will have me do today? No more meditation I hope? Or balancing upside down on a couple of chairs using my power? That one gave me a headache.”
As slowly as a snail Xander started to slither out of bed and landed on the floor with a soft thud. Her warm lumpy bed called and Xander was tempted to just sleep the whole day away but didn’t want to leave her new friend hanging. Xander has to get up, get dressed, and do the witchy thing! Mari said her boss’ had a small job for Xander, a couple of what they think is scavenger demons were robbing folks near Gilly’s bar, the bar Felix wanted to meet Xander and Mari at. Xander’s job was to stop it from robbing anyone else since it’s last attack caused a woman to be seriously hurt, another one missing, and one dead. All witches.
With a bone popping stretch a cat would be proud of Xander got off the floor and grabbed the first clean shirt she could find, then dug in her bag for some clean under cloths. Making sure the clasp on the bronze colored bra was locked Xander pulled it over her head like one would a shirt, then fiddled with her breasts till they rested in the cups without looking uneven and lumpy. As she pulled on a plain brown tank top Xander sauntered into the bathroom to brush out her hair then pulled the fluffy mass into a ponytail. Grabbing the jeans she wore yesterday Xander wiggled into them then grabbed her boots.
Slinging a nice black backpack onto her shoulder Xander slid her magical book into it. She would take it everywhere with her now and never let it out of her sight. It was now as important as breathing to Xander, the book had Xander’s family tree from his mother to the first witch that had created the book years ago. It had spells for healing, what herbs did what, demon knowledge, and vanquishing spells. Xander smiled at Mari as the shorter girl orbed in. “Hey, where are we training today after we deal with our little mission? You’re not going to have me do more meditation are you? I think it’s a waste since my head is all better!”
Mari gave Xander a nasty look. “It’s not a waste! Many telepathic, psychic, empathic, and telekinetic witches have used meditation as a tool to boost and strengthen their power! I heard from another whitelighter, who has passed on she got hit by a darklighter arrow, that her clairvoyant charge was able to kill over five hundred demons in the 1800s because she honed that gift so well. Telekinesis is your only active power right now! We need to focus on it!”
Xander grinned at her passionate whitelighter and held out her hands in surrender. “Whatever you say purple, whatever you say! Hone moving things and kill lots of demons with it, ok!”
“And live a long and fulfilled life! I want to be around and see you old with a lot of little magical children!” Mari hit Xander in the arm then smiled brightly. “I was given a new charge! I feel like a real whitelighter now, whitelighters have many charges all over the world and now I have two!”
“That’s cool! How is your new charge?”
Mari pursed her lips and shifted her feet. “Healthy. Sorry I can’t say much . . .It’s better that both you and the b- I mean better for my charges not to know anything about each other! You know just incase a demon gets to my other charge it won’t lead back to you or you to him! You know?”
Xander shrugged. “Ok, fine with me. I was just a little curious.”
“We should head to that bar and check out the place before the demon heads there tonight. Then more training.” Mari said with a slight look of guilt on her face.
“Training, training, training! Is that all you think about Mar? Do whitelighter ever take time off? I’d like to know, magic is cool and all but doing it 24/7 might drive me crazy. A like hanging with my friends and working. Working when I was a construction worker at least. I want to be a carpenter in the future.”
“I’m just trying to prepare you. The demon after you is an upper level demon and has killed a lot of witches.” Then Mari shrugged. “I know one whitelighter that married a witch. You can have both a normal life and a magical one, it will just be hard. All good things in life are hard to get and hard to keep. Have you read Varcoof`rith Zuffha’s page in the River book?”
Xander shrugged then headed for her used car and Mari orbed away. “Why can’t I do something like that light show thing? I would save on gas.”
Pulling up to the bar Xander wasn’t too impressed by the dank and dark building. It looked a bit gothic. Xander went to the door and looked through the window and was surprised to see the place empty. Entering the building Xander could see the bar in the center of the room with a dance floor off to the side big enough to hold a dozen or more dancers. In every corner held a set of couches and end tables, all in black. Everything was black, white, red or grey, the only other colors in the room came from the lights on the ceiling. It would look like a fancy Halloween theme club if it wanting for the posters of mimes, sad clowns, and trees with weird sayings like ‘Trees have needs, man are the weeds!’. It was depressing and dark and creepy and Xander did not like clowns! Mari orbed in. “Kinda spooky.”
Xander nodded. “Can’t imagine having a lot of fun here?” Xander stared at the short clown statue by the bar, she would swear it was following her with its big blue eyes. “Guess someone really likes clowns.”
“I think it’s one of those poetry hang outs, for young arty types. You know broody poetry. Everything here seems pretty open lets check out the back room.”
“Where is everyone?”
“It’s closed till five and the only person here is the manager. We don’t have to worry about him, he’s sleeping.” Mari said with a mischievous smirk.
Xander opened a door and found a long closet full of liquor and toilet paper, then a back room with a small kitchen and an office with a tall bald man sleeping the day away. The clown paint on his face smudging his deck as he slept. “Why is he sleeping?”
“I just put him to sleep. It’s a whitelighter thing.”
“Cool. Well the front part of the building is pretty open, I don’t think we’ll have a problem. Even the upstairs only has a bathroom and one exit. Which is odd. Aren’t bars supposed to have emergency exits? How long has this bar been open?” Xander looked through the next storage room and just found lots of shelves and an exit door blocked by boxes.
“It just opened not long ago. The dead witch had claw marks, was missing her eyes, and all her valuables. It was thought of as a random demon attack but then the other witches were attacked around the bar. The Elders want this solved so no more magical practitioners will get hurt. They’d send the Charmed ones but they have their own troubles . . . and they don’t really like the Elders right now.”
“Charmed ones? Super witches? Wonder if they’re in my book? I can understand why they wouldn’t like your boss’, I don’t like the Powers That Be. They fuck with my friend Buffy’s life for fun!” Grabbing a box Xander threw it aside so she could get to the door.
“Please don’t cuss around me! And the Elders and Powers are different! The Elders help witches and whitelighters and deal with the underworld, the Powers deal with champions, hellgates, and hell demons! They are like two different magical worlds, whitelighters can’t even go on hellgates! It’s like poison for us.”
“So that’s why Wills don’t have a whitelighter like Tara once did! Does that mean a witch on the hellmouth is under the PTB?”Xander went out the back door and ran into a guy crouching in front of the door. “Hey sorry! Didn’t see you there?”
The man on the ground turned around real quick and snarled at Xander, eyes glowing red and huge fangs dripping thick white drool. The demon sniffed the air then narrowed its red reptile eyes. “Witch?” It hissed then jumped at Xander, it’s big maw open ready to take a bite. Reacting on that fight or flight instinct Xander tossed the demon away from her and Mari, tossed it with great force against the wall. It hit the wall with a wet thud, the sound of bone crunching and the sight of green blood made Xander wrinkle her nose. The demon fell limp to the ground and didn’t move.
”What is it?” Xander tapped the corpse with her foot.
“Looks like our scavenger demon is a mort-poc. They hunt in packs and love shiny things.” Mari said as she picked up a woman’s gold watch on the ground. “Where there’s one there are more! We should look in the River book for info.”
Sitting on the hood of her used car Xander started flipping through her book. She was about to show Mari what she found when the young whitelighter stilled and tilted her head to the side listening to something Xander couldn’t hear. “I’m being called. I need to go.”
“Sure maybe I’ll see you tomorrow?” Xander waved to Mari distractedly as she flipped through the River book.
Mari frowned. “No, I’ll be back! I’m not letting you do everything on your own, Xanny! Oh and maybe you should go talk to the witch at the hospital! The one that was attacked. Her name is Hannah Hanson. Don’t do anything crazy!” Then Mari orbed away.
“Worrywart.” Xander mumbled as she looked over the page on mort-poc. ~Mort-poc demons are considered low level demons in the underworld because of their limited intelligence. They love things that are shiny and it’s easy to distract them with a ring or a bit of metal. They stick to a diet of lemons, spirits, magical flesh, and sugar. Because of a witch’s curse all the female mort-poc’s are dead so now the only way the males can reproduce is by using a rinota crystal. The head male, the king of them is the smartest of them, is the only one that can replenish their ranks with the aid of a rinota crystal. The king mort-poc have a crown of fins in there hair and only create other king mort-poc before death to begin the cycle again, the stronger the first king the more baby mort-poc kings are born after its death. With every crystal ten full grown mort-poc can come into being. They can be killed many ways, spells, blast potions, bludgeon them to death, and so on. Mort-poc look human and will only change into demon face when they are surprised or about to attack. Mort-poc have red glowing eyes, large fangs, fine pale skinned scales that gleam in the light, and bleed thick green blood that smells like old fish. The best way to kill a nest is a good vanquishing spell.~
Hopping into her car Xander grabbed a pen and paper then tapped the pen against her lip. “Ok, vanquishing spell, what do I write?”

Mari appeared in a flurry of blue orbs and smiled at the Elder before her. “Elder Leo! Did you call for me?”
Leo smiled and nodded at the chipper new whitelighter. “Yes. We were informed that the River book left the safety of Magic school. Gideon says he cast protective spells on the room it was in, that only the blood witch to the book could reach it. He said nothing but a summoning spell by the River witch could make it leave the room. I was told that you have a new and powerful witch as your charge. Is your charge the River witch?”
“Um yeah, Xanny and I just met yesterday. Elder Markus gave us our first assignment to get rid of something hurting witches at some bar. We think we found a mort-poc nest!”
Leo frowned. “That could be very difficult for a new witch, do you think your charge can handle it?”
“Elder Markus didn’t know it was a mort-poc nest, he just thought it was one scavenger demon. I think Xanny can handle anything the demon world can throw at us! She um he . . .she is strong. It’s all just a little complicated right now!”
“I hope things go well. Your charge must cross paths with that of the Charmed ones soon. It’s important that your charge learns as much as she can. Something big is coming our way.”
Mari gave a small nod. “I’ll do my best.” Mari orbed away.
Leo frowned. “She . . . he?” It was odd that no one Elder could pin point what made the River witch so different. A wildcard. Leo wasn’t sure if he liked that especially when it involved the Charmed ones.

Stirring the boiling pot of white liquid Chris sprinkled in a small hand full of poppy seed, then the eye of a peacock feather. He stirred it clockwise seven times then counter clockwise nine time, then added half a cup of ripe pomegranate seeds. As he stirred the potion turned red. His potion was almost done and once he drank it he would have his answers! He needed to know why he couldn’t get Alexandra out of his head! Days later and she still haunted his mind like a persistent ghost! Grabbing a small piece of passion fruit Chris stepped back from his potion and threw the bit of fruit in causing the potion to make a little explosion. As the smoke cleared Chris bottled some of the now pink potion then went to find one of his aunts.
He found Paige in the attic. “Paige I need your help.”
“Well, hi to you to Chris! How’s my day? It’s good! I saved a witch that accidently put herself in a time loop!”
“What?” Chris said with a confused note to his voice. “At your temp job?”
“Yep! I went through this morning six times before Kim and I figured out what she did wrong! On the bright side I learned a lot about talismans from Kim, I’m going to add them into the book.” Paige said with a wary sigh as she brushed some of her dark hair out of her face. “And this is the second time you tried bugging me about a potion! What do you need?”
“Huh. So that’s how we get that whole section in the book about talismans. Anyway I need your help!” Chris said as he handed Paige the potion.
“What’s this? I’m curious now that I’m not on repeat?” Paige looked at the potion closely and for a second she could swear she saw heart shapes floating in the pink liquid.
“It’s a love antidote potion and a summon cupid potion all in one.” Chris shrugged.
Paige frowned. “You mixed potions?”
“It’s one of Grams. It will only summon a cupid if they are responsible for . . . how I feel about Alexandra. I need your help because Grams’ notes says it could make me pass out.” Chris mumbled.
Paige rolled her eyes. “Why don’t you just face it? You’re in loooovve!”
Chris glared. “Just throw the potion at me! I need to know.”
“Alright, but I’m just saying you Chris Perry Halliwell are in love!”
“Just throw it!”
Paige shrugged and did just that. At Chris’ feet a pink glittery cloud crawled up his body until it covered him from head to toe. In a daze Chris stood before Paige and blinked. “That felt really weird.”
Paige looked around the room, no cupid. “I told you Chris you’re just in love.”
Chris had a mixed look of both relief and fear.
“Alright! Who sent for ME!” Said a young thin blond man who just appeared in the room.
Paige frowned and looked the guy over. “Are you cupid?”
The blond sighed. “Let me guess you were thinking of a chubby baby with wings? And I’m not the cupid I’m A cupid.”
Chris marched up to the cupid till he was in the poor boy’s face. “Did you cast a lust spell on me?”
The blond raised a thin almost invisible eyebrow. “A lust spell? No.”
“Then what?” Chris growled.
“Ok, down boy!” Paige said as she forced Chris to get out of the cupid’s personal space. Paige turned to the cupid and held out her hand to shake. “Hi! I’m Paige and this grumpy guy is Chris.”
“I’m Danny. I didn’t put a spell on you Chris, I used my ring to help you and the pretty girl notice each other. A temporary love/lust thing. Too bad you can’t see love auras, you and that girl were like two suns gravitating towards each other! You were meant to meet that girl.” Danny said as he picked at his nails.
“How temporary?”
Danny smirked. “Five hours or so. Long enough for you two to hook up. The love connection I made with my ring tapers down as time goes by. From love/lust at first sight, to lust, to like, and so on. I make you notice love I don’t force it. If you’re still feeling something strong for your fling then it is all you, babe.”
Chris let out a shuddering breath. “Damn.”
Paige smiled. “Told you so.”
“If that is all I would like to get! I have places to be.” Danny looked from a smiling Paige to a pale Chris.
“Sure. Thanks for your help.” Paige said since Chris seemed not able to speak. Danny waved and vanished in a flurry of red light and rose petals. Chris marched over to the book and started flipping through the pages. “What are you doing now?”
“Need to look up cupids to see if Danny is lying!”
Paige rolled her eyes.

Hospital
***
Going to the front desk Xander tried to get the nurses attention. “Hi! Miss? Can you tell me where Hannah Hanson’s room is?”
The nurse looked Xander up and down. “Are you a relative, Miss?”
“Alexandra. I’m a cousin. Are people aloud to see her? I know she was attacked, is she being guarded?” Xander asked earnestly.
The nurse bit at her lip. “She is. I don’t think I should tell you . . . at least not until I ask if it is ok?”
Xander sighed then looked the nurse right in the eyes and tried to look as harmless as a fluffy bunny. “Come on, I really need to talk to my cousin.”
“I just need to make a quick call miss-“ Xander and the nurse locked eyes and some sort of magical pulse passed from Xander to the nurse. Xander frowned when the nurse’s eyes glazed over and her face went slack.
‘What the hell?’ Xander waved a hand in front of the nurse’s face. “Are you ok?”
The nurse nods. “Yes . . . I feel fine . . .real good. I don’t need to make a call . . .you’re harmless . . .like a fluffy bunny.” The nurse smiled.
“O-ok. Can I see Hannah?” Xander could almost feel a weak connection to the nurse, almost like she was in the nurse’s mind. Hoping that she wasn’t doing something bad Xander sent calm feelings out and watched the nurse sit limp in her chair like a person on a real good high.
The nurse looked lazily at Xander then typed on the computer. “She’s in room 117c, third floor.”
Xander nodded and made a quick retreat, she was relived that the connection broke the moment she lost eye contact with the nurse. Xander got into the elevator then got off on the third floor. “What the hell was that? Ok, 117c? Must be the door with the sleeping cop in front of it.” Silently Xander snuck by the cop sleeping in a chair and into Hannah’s room. Xander found a small blond sleeping in the hospital bed with bandages around her head and a cast on her right arm. Around her bed was colorful flowers, get well cards, and small six crystals. Two crystals on the window, and four around her bed. Xander stepped close to the bed and cleared her throat.
The girl awoke with a start, her green eyes wide. “Who are you? What do you want? H-how did you get in here, no one is aloud in here but my family!”
Xander held a finger to her lips. “Shh! I’m here to help you! I was sent by my whitelighter to ask about your attack. I’m Alexandra, Xander for short.”
Hannah gave Xander a wary look. “Step over the crystals so I now you’re not a demon.” Xander did and the girl relaxed when nothing happened. “Sorry, I’m just real freaked. I’m not that strong of a witch, I can’t even cast spell very good.”
Xander shrugged. “It’s ok. So about your attack?”
Hannah shrugged. “I went to this new bar with my friend Jane, she’s the one that d-died, and Rice my other friend s-she’s the one that is missing. We were invited to the bar by Jane’s date to a really weird bar called Gilly’s. It was real crazy! The clown eyes were following me, I swear! I was feeling weak, drained, so I left the bar for some air. I was outside for no more then a minute when I was attacked by demons with red eyes. They were trying to pull me back into the bar so I used at spell to help me escape!” Hannah blushed red. “Spells never work right for me I was trying to teleport using my spell instead it made me real fast. I ran then bashed into a wall . . . broke my arm.”
Xander nodded and gave her a sympathetic look. “Why the bar?”
Hannah shook her head. “I felt dark magic in the bar . . . The mort-poc weren’t the only ones there I think. Please be careful Alexandra, my friend Jane was a strong witch she had the power to shoot light beams from her hands and now she’s dead.”

Gilly’s bar

Xander smiled at Mari as the girl orbed in. “Hi just on time I was about to head in and kick demon butt and scary clown bar butt.”
Mari looked Xander over and raised a brow. Xander’s body was incased in a small black leather skirt, a tight tank top, high leather boots, and shiny silver earrings. “You look like one of those anima warrior women! Why are you wearing all THAT?”
Xander shrugged. “I cast a spell to attract the mort-poc. Guess they like shiny black leather and silver. I even smell like lemon! I didn’t think the spell would change my clothes!”
“Magic. It sometimes does what it wants even when it does what you need.” Mari shook her head. “And all I did was change my shirt for a pretty blouse!”
“I like the blouse! It lights up your eyes. Now lets go! I have the spell and a dagger with mort-poc demon names on it! Also Hannah the witch that was attacked said something about the bar being evil. So we better watch out for that too.”
Mari frowned. “I should report that? Maybe we should wait to tackle this? Ask for help?”
Xander shook her head. “No I think we can do this! Besides the missing girl might still be alive! We can do this.” Xander got to the door then turned to Mari a frown on her face. “Remind me I have something to tell you after we are done here! I did something to a nurse that I didn’t mean to do . . .it was kinda creepy.”

Gilly’s bar
***
Xander and Mari entered the bar and immediately were surrounded by Felix and his friends. “You made it! Great!” Felix grinned as he and his group practically herded them to their table near the stage.
“Yeah, we finished training early.” Xander gave the guy a slight smile. Something didn’t feel right, the whole place felt smaller and every person looked off. Xander leaned toward Mari. “Do you feel that?”
Mari nodded. “It feels like the air is thicker, something bad is here.”
Xander was about to ask her something else when the spotlight on the stage went on and focused on the tall bald guy that Mari put to sleep earlier. The guy grinned and showed off his colorful clown make-up, his painted smile making his mouth look longer. “Hello my fellow brothers and sisters! To those that do not know me I am Gilly the master of hijinks and tragedies! I have a special treat for you all today!”
“What is going on?” Xander frowned and watched with the others as some sort of casket rose up from a hatch in the stage floor.
Felix frowned his nostrils flared. “Shut up and watch!”
Gilly grinned so wide Xander could see his fangs. The clown guy opened the lid and inside was a bound girl surrounded by clown dolls with moving human eyes instead of glass doll eyes. “Ok! I’ve had enough! Release her!” Xander stood up and marched over to the stage then looked around the room to find the place full of demons. “Shit! Mari we’re in a demon bar!”
Gilly grinned his mouth literally splinting his face in half. “I didn’t believe Felix when he said he invited a pair of pretty magical girls to the party! Seems we’re are going to have a feast on our hands.” Gilly pulled out two chef knives and headed for Xander and Mari.
Xander and Mari back up toward the bound girl. “Maybe we should have got help after all . . .”

Review
Summary: Xander is temporally turned into a girl by Willow. Before he turns back into himself he meets Chris Halliwell. The Chris from the future and Xander have sex. Now an very male Xander is pregnant with a child from a man that’s not even born yet. This idea is from a challenge I read but couldn’t find again.

“Maybe we should have got help after all . . .”
