Spike heard someone coming up the stairs and identified it as Dawn from her heartbeat.
He smiled at her as she stuck her head around the door and waved at her to come in. Realizing Xander was still asleep she tiptoed across the room and curled up next to Spike on the bed.
“Is he Ok?” she asked softly
“Yeah he hasn’t slept much since…” Spike glanced over to her and paused, he didn’t want to upset her by mentioning Buffys death.
“He fell asleep on you?”
“Yeah half way through a very ‘interesting’ conversation”
Dawn raised an eyebrow in mimic of Willow and Spike went on to explain carefully.
“We talked about possessions and related stuff.”
“Yeah Dawnie, our Spike now knows all about my gifts” Xander said lifting his head from Spikes chest. “Sorry for falling asleep on you Spike. What time is it?”
“Our spike” Spike frowned at the thought
“Seven thirty and you know your one of us now Spike.” Dawn said getting up of the bed “I’m going to get some breakfast your two want any?”
“Shit no,” Xander said rolling out of bed “I’m late for work.”
Dawn pouted as Spike got up and covered her eyes.
“Bloody hell pet, put some clothes on before Dawn here drowns in her own drawl would you.”
Xander let out a girly eep and ran to hide in the bathroom shouting a sorry over his shoulder as he slammed the door.
“Go start Breakfast luv, we’ll join you in a mo.”
Spike gathered up some of Xanders clothes and walked over to the bathroom door.
(Right lets see if his hearings working.) Spike scratched softly on the door barely making a sound.
“Yes?” Xander responded immediately.
“Got some clothes for you pet, I’ll just put them inside the door for you.” Spike opened the door and slipped the clothes through shutting it behind him.
When Xander finished his shower and getting dressed he came out of the bath room towel drying his hair.
“Dawn gone then?” he asked looking around the room for her.
“Yeah, Xan I think you should take a few days of work.” Spike waited for the inevitable explosion form Xander about money and how he couldn’t afford to take time off.
To his surprise Xander just sat next to him on the bed frowning.
“Why?”
“well I know a bit about heightened senses and one of the things I know is that when your tired they become more unstable. You could suffer from an overload at work and hurt your self badly.”
“Spike are you saying you’re worried about my health?”
“No.” Spike denied vemanantly “I just don’t thing the bit needs to visit you in hospital or worse after all she’s been though lately that might just break her.”
“I guess your right. I’ll give them a call and take a few days off.”
“Good. Besides we still haven’t finished our conversation.”
Spike and Xander made they way down stairs to the garage door.
Leaving Spike at the door Xander crossed the sun lit lawn to the house and opened the back door for him and stepped back out of the way.
A blanket covered spike streaked across the lawn and darted in the now open door cursing blue murder.
