Chapter 6

Buffy’s POV

I could feel how angry Monica was. How much angrier she had gotten since Faith and Annie come back down the stairs. I tried to smile at her, grabbing her hand in mine. She pulled away, until she noticed Faith eyeing her. Then she grabbed my hand back.

No one said anything for a few minutes. Faith’s question of what we were going to do still hanging on the air.

“I’m from Miami,” Monica said, looking at Faith.

Faith smiled at her. “What brings you to LA, then?”

Are they actually going to have a conversation?

Monica smiled as well. “Buffy.” She stopped for a moment and put her arm around me. “Well, not originally. I was vacationing here. Got the itch for a little vamp activity and ran into B here in a cemetery,” I saw Faith flinch. I couldn’t help it though, she hadn’t coined the phrase. Well, okay she had. But Monica didn’t know that, “We got a little beat up. Those were some mean ass vamps. Anyway, Buffy invited me back here to clean up a little before I went back to my hotel. Guess I really never left.” She had a glass in her other hand. She took a drink. She pulled me to her, even closer. I watched Faith for any change. It was subtle but I could see it. I was betting Monica could too. “I don’t know how anyone could leave her. Annie just sort of sealed the deal for me.” She bent down and kissed me on the cheek.

Faith released a breath she was holding. “So, you’re the noble lesbian. Swooping in and saving the day. Keeping B from being a single mom and all.”

Monica lost her smile. “I don’t think that was noble of me. I just fell in love. With both of them. As for the lesbian part., well, I was that before I met her.” She moved closer to Faith. Clenching and unclenching her fists.

Faith mirrored her movements.

Kennedy cleared her throat, “Well, as cute as this little pissing contest is, why don’t you put your dicks away girls and we can talk about this rationally?”

Faith glared at her, before turning back to Monica. She spoke to Kennedy, while holding my girlfriend’s gaze. “I don’t know what this has to do with you, Ken?” She gestured towards Monica, “As for blondie here. I think we can settle this a different way. Seems like she’s itching to get something started. And I’m itching to finish it.”

I shook my head, waking up from the shock I was under. I stood between them quickly. Kennedy made her way to stand beside Monica. I looked to Willow for help.

Willow sighed, “Everyone just needs to calm down for a moment.” She grabbed Ken’s arm, “And you can put yours away too.” Kennedy relented and went to stand beside her girlfriend. Good move on her part. Willow looked at me, “Buff, don’t you think you should explain some things to Faith?”

Faith looked a little surprised at Will’s question, but quickly hid it. “Yeah, B. What the fuck are you doing with her?”

Willow sighed again, “Um, no. I mean about Annie.”

Faith nodded, “oh, yeah. Right. How did that happen B?”

She put her hands on her hips. I copied her movement. “How did it happen that you left Faith? I don’t recall you explaining that. How could you do that to me?”

Faith got closer to me, “that’s not the issue here.”

I could feel myself getting angrier. I stepped closer as well, “the fuck it’s not.”

I heard Monica sigh. I turned to look at her. Fuck. What the hell is wrong with me tonight? “I would think that that wasn’t the issue Buffy,” she said, turning away from me.

I turned my back on Faith, and walked up, putting my arms around Monica’s waist. “Oh baby, it’s not. I’m just tired. You know I didn’t mean it the way it sounded.” I felt her shoulders deflate a bit. Still she leaned back into my embrace.

I heard Faith scoff behind me, “Wow, B. How pussy whipped is this one? Believing that shit.”

I tensed when Monica coiled. Then she threw me off of her. “You want to fight Faith, is that it?”

Faith cracked her knuckles, “Fuck yeah, bitch. You’ve been asking for an ass kicking since I walked in.”

I tried to catch Monica but she pushed me off of her. She threw Kennedy away as well. Not that Kennedy was actually trying to stop her. “Bring it on, grandma.” Yeah, Monica was probably four years younger than Faith, at least. I know, I know, I was robbing the cradle, again. But Willow did it. Focus Buffy.

Monica swung at Faith. I knew she didn’t have a chance. Faith had years, skill and speed on her. She caught her fist easily and kicked her feet out from under her. As soon as Monica hit the ground, Faith pounced. I could feel her anger though, and in a situation like that, Faith lets anger get the best of her. She becomes careless. Monica saw the chance and took it, swinging with her left hand, which was still free. She caught Faith across the jaw.

The next thing I know everything became a blur as they began trading punches, rolling around on the floor. Apparently Kennedy got some sense knocked into her by Willow cause she jumped in trying to pull them apart. I grabbed one and she grabbed the other. When we came up, I had Faith and she had Monica.

“Let me go, Ken.” Monica’s eye was already starting to swell. Faith had pulled her hair out of the ponytail she had tied it in earlier.

Faith was struggling against me for a moment, breathing so hard I thought she was going to faint. I kept my arm around her waist even as she bent over to catch her breath. The back of her shirt was ripped a little, but other than that Faith looked a hell of alot better than my girlfriend.

Both of the girls had stilled in our arms. Monica was watching us, Kennedy’s arms still around her.

Faith turned around quickly, pushing her arm around my waist. “Sorry B,” she said, loud enough for the others to hear. She kissed me on my cheek and pulled away.

Monica growled, and Kennedy held her tighter. Faith turned around and smiled at her, walking out of the room.

For my part, all I could do was hold my hand to my cheek. I heard Willow sigh, “For god’s sake,” she said, rolling her eyes.

Faith’s POV

I walked into the kitchen, straightening my shirt. Fuck these people. Fuck this house. Fuck everyone here. Fucking blond Amazon. I should go back in there and kick her ass. I took a deep breath. Fuck that, I’m leaving.

“Hey Faith,” I felt Annie tugging on my shirt.

I looked down at my girl. She was smiling at me. “Hey baby doll.”

Fuck them. I’m not going anywhere. Let them try to remove me from this house.

“Are you hungry?” She asked. “Cordy and I made peanut butter cookies.”

“Are you sure Cordy isn’t going try to poison me?”

She slapped me on the arm as I picked her up, “No, silly. Cordy said you were cool.” I quirked an eyebrow at her, and she giggled. “She did. She said ‘Faith was always way cooler than your Mommy.’ It makes Mommy really mad when she says that.”

“I bet,” I said. “Your mommy never liked the fact that I was cooler than her.”

“Cordy said it was because you could wear leather pants. She said Mommy had some too, but you were the only one who would wear them even in scorching heat. And you could run in them. She said Mommy looked silly running in them.”

This kid was too much. “Cordy tells you a lot doesn’t she?”

She nodded, “Cordy is the smartest person I know.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. That’s what she told me anyway.”

“Annie?” We both turned towards Buffy’s voice. Annie hopped down and pulled me back into the game room. I tried to pull her back. I wasn’t a complete heel. I didn’t want her to see Monica.

Monica wasn’t in there when we rounded the corner, “What Mommy?”

“I’m going slaying. Do you wanna go?”

Annie jumped up and down. “Yeah. Is Monica going?” Buffy shook her head. “Can Faith go?”

“Yeah,” Buffy said. She looked at me, “I was going to ask you.”

What the fuck? “What the fuck?”

Buffy looked at me, “Faith, mouth.”

“Sorry, B. But what the fuck?”

Buffy sighed. It was the first time that I noticed no one was in here but her. “Faith, I know it sounds weird. But I need to explain. Unfortunately, it’s my night to patrol.”

I looked at her. She was incredulous sometimes, “Aren’t there more than a couple of slayers in LA? I mean, couldn’t you take a night off or something?”

Buffy smiled. God it was good to see that. “Yeah I could. But I think it would be easier to explain if we went slaying.”

“We?”

“Yeah, Faith,” Buffy said grabbing my hand, “You, me and Anna.”

I shook her hand away, “One big happy family,” I said, smiling sarcastically at her. Still unable to believe the kid got to go slaying.

Apparently the sarcasm was lost on the kid. “Is that why you’re staying? So we can be a family?” She asked, looking up at me.

I began to speak, couldn’t think of anything to say, and thought best to just smile at her.

B saved me, “Of course, baby,” she said, rubbing Annie’s head, “Right Faith?”

I smiled at her. Rubbing Annie’s head as well. Is this what I wanted? Did I actually have anything else? Would I want anything else? I winked at B, “right B.” Annie squealed. “Let’s go slay.”

Now if we could just get out of this building without running into anyone. Which I realized, was near fucking impossible. “Where are you going?” Fuck Kennedy, you might want to stay out of my business.

“We are going to slay.” Buffy answered.

“Is that a good idea Buff? Your girlfriend is up there with a black eye. And you are going slaying with the person who gave it to her?”

Annie looked up at her mother, “What’s wrong with Monnie?”

Buffy shot Kennedy a go to hell look, “It’s my turn.”

Kennedy stared at Buffy like she had three heads. “Are you serious? What do you mean it’s your turn? Jesus Buffy, I’ll go. You need to check on your girlfriend,” She looked over to me for a fleeting second, “unless that isn’t important to you?”

Buffy let go of Annie’s hand. “You’re right. Go ahead Kennedy. We can go tomorrow night.” She headed up the stairs.

“Is Monnie okay?” Annie asked. She seemed really concerned.

Kennedy smiled at her, “Yeah. She just found the bad end of Faith’s fist.”

Buffy stopped in her tracks, half way up the stairs. Annie gasped. “You didn’t hit her, did you?” Annie asked me.

“She hit me first,” Lame I know, but she was just five.

Annie put her little hand over mouth and ran up the stairs. I could hear her calling out to Monica, asking if she was ok. Buffy stayed put. With good reason.

I stalked over to Kennedy and grabbed her by the arm. “What the fuck is your deal? You’ve been riding me since I got here. We used to be…well, we used to not hate each other. Now you look like you wanna do nothing but kill me. Which by the way I’m telling you one last time – Back off. You don’t have a horse in this race, but you’re about to get a beat down like you do.”

She pulled out of my grasp and got in my face. “I’ll tell you what my problem is. Buffy is happy. Annie is happy. And Monica is my friend. It’s not easy infiltrating this group and we helped each other out. Makes life long buddies out of people. I don’t like to see her upset, especially when I know there is no need for it. You shouldn’t be here. They are doing just fine without you. You always were a day late and a dollar short. You don’t have to be this time. Catch a fucking clue, and get the hell out.”

Count to ten. Didn’t work. Ok, count to one hundred. “You are so fucking close right now. I’m itching to get some real fighting in,” I motioned up the stairs, “Your girl left a little to be desired. Want me to finish that ass whopping with you?”

Kennedy smirked, “Oh Faith. Faith. Faith,” she shook her head back and forth, “I’d like to see you fucking try.”

Buffy ran down the stairs at this point and grabbed my arms. Kennedy smiled at me. “Good to know she can still keep you under control,” she said, rolling her eyes. “I’m going slaying.”

I watched her go, wiggling in Buffy’s grip. “Let. Me. Go. B.”

She was holding me so tight I was afraid I would break a rib. “Not until you calm down.”

“Well tell people to quit stirring up shit and maybe I would be calm.” She let go, her arms a little softer around my chest. I took the chance to take a breath, but she still held on.

I turned, but she still held me. I looked down to the ground. “I’m sorry Faith,” she said. Her admission surprised me.

I couldn’t look at her. “Do you not want me here?”

I didn’t look up. I couldn’t. What if she said no. I was sure she was going to say no.

“Of course I want you here.”

I looked up as she stepped away from me. Her eyes were on the ground now. “Why? Why are we doing this then? I want to be here. I want to get to know my…daughter. God that sounds funny on my lips. I’ve never had anyone like that. Anyone that could possibly love me, just for me. I feel like I could have that with Annie.”

Buffy looked up through hooded lashes, “You had that with me.” She looked like she was going to cry.

Don’t cry B. Fuck, I’ll fall down right here and ask for forgiveness. Just please don’t cry. Too fucking late. “Don’t cry B.” I walked over to her, and put my arms around her. Goddamn, fuck if I’m going to regret this. “Look I’ll try to be nice to Kennedy…and …the other one,” I managed to get out.

She buried her face in my neck, sobbing into me. “I’m so sorry…I can’t explain…I…do you know what it did…when you left…I thought….I thought I was going to die…” I pulled back to look at her, but she just buried her face deeper, “I felt like I was going to die. The further you got away from me, the more it hurt. It’s like somewhere deep inside of me, I needed that hurt…cause I had let you go. I watched you leave…You were crying,” she was sobbing now, “And I just watched. I could have told you, Faith. There was so much that would have made you stay. But you said…you said…you wanted to go.”

Oh fuck, please stop crying. I’m such an ass. I rubbed her head with one hand, and pulled her to me as close as she could get with the other, “Fuck, B. I was a stupid ass. I knew you didn’t want me to go. I was just trying to hurt you. I felt like you hurt me. We were both being pigheaded and stupid.”

She sniffled a little, “I know,” She said, looking up at me. “Sometimes we could be real dumbasses.”

I smiled down at her, pulling her tighter to me, “Hey, how could I help it. You were always hot and naked around me. What’s a girl supposed to do? Have cognitive thought? All I was thinking was ‘Buffy hot.’”

She giggled and snuggled her head into my chest, “It feels so damn good just being here with you. Is that wrong?”

I smoothed her hair, “Does it feel wrong?”

She shook her head against me, “Nothing has felt this right in a long time.” She sniffled again, “Earlier, when we kissed, I wanted to…Did you want to? I mean, did you feel like I did?”

I moaned as she began placing small butterfly kisses on my collarbone, “Did I want to fuck you right here in the hallway? Fuck yeah. Kinda feeling the same way now.” I bent down and captured her lips. Did I mention that I missed that? The feel of her lips against mine.

She backed up suddenly, “We shouldn’t be doing this.”

I whined a little, stepping closer to her again, “Why?”

She lost her footing a bit, and grabbed my arm. I took the chance to pull her against the wall. “Because it’s….wrong.” I was biting her neck, “Fuck Faith,…we should….mmm…” I licked her ear, tugging it between my teeth. She put her hands against my arms, intent on pushing me away I guess, until I ran my arms around her back and crushed our mouths back together. Instead she pulled me to her. Raking her fingers through my hair. She leaned her body against the wall, allowing me to hold her up, as our kissing became more forceful.

The room was empty and big and you could hear the noises we were making. The wet sounds our mouths were creating. It was turning me on. She broke away again, trying to breath. I took the opportunity to pull her to me, even harder, and started kissing her neck again. Sucking every piece of skin that was exposed. She was pulling me to her, hands in my hair. “Faith…I want…Jesus….You just get me so worked up. I want you to,” I stopped for a second and she stilled. I ground my hips against hers and she moaned, “Mmm.”

We started up a rhythm that would have been indiscernible to the naked eye, but that felt so delicious to my pussy, I couldn’t think of anything else.

We were kissing again. Our hips grinding into each other. I had her hands on either side of her head, pressed against the wall.

We should have known better.

“Oh my god,” We heard a small gasp behind us. I put my head against the wall, between Buffy’s shoulder and her arm.

“Monica?” Buffy questioned, looking towards the stairs.

Neither one of us moved. I had my eyes closed. I had let go of B’s hand, but I was still holding her with my body. She put one hand on my waist. My forehead stayed firmly pressed against the wall, as if I just stayed there this bitch would go away. I could feel her looking up at Monica.

“What’s going on?”

I had to bite my tongue. What the fuck do you think is going on Blondie? Now pack your shit and get out. I stayed quiet.

“Uhh…uhh…I can…” Buffy just sighed, but put her head on my shoulder. She rose up again and looked at her girlfriend, “Monica we need to talk,” she whispered.

Oh! Hell yeah!

“Mommy what are you doing?” Buffy pushed me off of her as soon as she heard the voice.

I spun around quickly. Fuck!!!!!!! Why does this shit keep happening?

“Nothing?”

Annie ignored Buffy and came to stand by me. “Why are you being mean to Monica? What did she do to you?”

I had nothing to say. I stared at her for a moment, “I’m not being mean…well, it’s complicated…your mommy and I,” I looked over to B. She was not helping, just staring at Monica, “She and I…we…it’s really complicated…I love her.” I heard B gasp, “I always have.”

Annie just looked at me. “Well she loves Monica. You are the one that left. Mommy didn’t tell you to go.”

“Annie please,” Buffy tried, “You don’t understand.” She pulled at her.

“Leave me alone,” Ann screamed, running out of the room.

Buffy looked up the stairs, “Monica?”

Monica looked back down, “Fuck you Buffy,” she said, turning and walking back up.

Buffy turned to look at me. She looked as stunned as I felt. “We’ve got to figure something out here. This isn’t right. Groping each other in the hall.” I didn’t say anything so she moved on, “I’m going to talk to Annie and then Mon. Why don’t you go get your clothes and come back here in about an hour?”

I nodded, still not trusting my voice and made my way to the door.

“Faith,” Buffy called out as I had opened it.

I turned around, and she ran back to me.

“Promise me you won’t leave.” She was shaking, and she wrapped her arms around my waist as tight as she could, “Please promise me.” She was crying again.

I kissed her on the top of the head and squeezed her to me, “I love you B. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” I said, letting her go and walking out the door.
