End of Chapter 6

Walking around the room she picked up her things up stuffing them into her duffle bag. First things first she needed to do a spell to mask her from any search for Slayers easy enough. Next she needed to find out exactly where Sunnydale, Ca was because she would be visiting there after a research little trip to London.

Chapter 7 - Becoming

Synn stepped off the plane her bag slung over her shoulder, London had been fun and informative. While there she did a job this time she stole a little artifact from a private collection. She knew the job was for Wolfram & Hart and she had taken it because first it was in London, and secondly the payout was in the six digits. The final factor though had been Adrian he started getting frustrated after she turned down three other offers that then had to be farmed out to Adrian’s other agents.

London wasn’t new to her though in the past she had done little except get the job done and moved onto the next job. It was strange prowling the streets as she looked for information, but it felt right. It took a few nights but she was able to beat the information she needed out a few demons and vampires and got a line on a Watcher.

He reminded her of Wesley with the librarian look, and there was a young girl living with him who she guessed was a potential. After almost a week he finally led her to the watcher’s council.

While they had excellent security, it really wasn’t all that impressive and she managed to bypass it in just a few minutes. The place was large and she had to be careful because they also had mystical alarms, finding the library hadn’t been too hard. Using a hand scanner she was able to scan all the texts she needed in just a few nights.

It had been almost a month since her little visit with Wesley, Angel, and Cordelia. Oddly enough she couldn’t forget their offer or rather Wesley’s offer. It wasn’t the help or belonging that made her ponder the idea it was the idea of having a true continual purpose. It was the one thing she had been lacking all her life. She had been training since as far back as she could remember and she was little more than a thief and hired killer, and she assumed there had to be more to life.

Glancing around the small airport, Synn headed toward the rental car counters to pick up her car. A nice no descript rental car to fit it in nothing fancy. After her initial research it was time she learned all about Slayer’s and to truly do that she wanted to see one in action. Since Faith was still in the hospital that left Elizabeth Ann Summers aka Buffy.

Unlike her search for the council in London it took very little time to find the Slayer. The town was rather small compared to LA, and London. Lurk around in dark alleys and cemeteries and eventually you found exactly what you were looking for a young girl dusting vampires. Synn was surprised to find the slayer was a petite blond who looked more like she belonged in a cheerleading uniform then rolling around in the dirt in Sunnydale. It took very little effort to ensure the Slayer had no idea she was there.

Impressive so far tonight she had dusted around 10 vampires since Synn finally found her. Trailing her after her duties she followed her to the local college campus. The next day Synn was waiting bright and early to see what a Slayer did in her average day. Following behind the Slayer and a red-haired girl she followed them into a coffee shop. Hungry herself she ordered a hot chocolate she couldn’t really stomach coffee of any kind. Then they made their way across campus and into a lecture hall. Slipping into the back Synn had to bite back a groan when she glanced over to see it was Psych 101.

Riley Finn glanced up at the door his gaze riveted for a moment on the vision standing there. He had never had quite that reaction to anyone upon meeting them. Not even Buffy she simply had presence not to mention she was a knockout. He knew she didn’t belong in the class, instead of saying something he watched her slide into a seat in the back of the lecture hall.

After class Synn got up and watched the slayer walk toward the TA, their body language was unmistakable they were defiantly sleeping together. So the Slayer had a boyfriend, he was defiantly hot in that athletic all-American way. As the Slayer left Synn headed down the stairs only to have tall, blond, and broad-shouldered step into her path.

“I don’t think you’re registered for this class.” Riley stepped into the girls path his gaze had settled on her several times during class something about her had caught his attention, beyond the obvious. There was something off about her, it was in the way she moved the way she carried herself.

“I’m not.” Synn responded and became aware that he wasn’t going to get out of her way. “I am auditing the class I was thinking about attending next year when I graduated I just wanted to see what the classes are like.” Synn put on her best I am a harmless high school girl act.

“Well I hope to see you after you graduate then.” Riley frowned every fiber in his being was putting out alarms but he didn’t know why and they only usually went off when they were patrolling at night. He didn’t have any reason to keep her there so he stepped out of the girl’s way as she sailed past him.

“We’ll see.” Synn responded over her shoulder knowing without looking that his gaze had slid to her swaying ass. Whether they were in a loving relationship or not everyone female or male always checked out the opposite sex. If you didn’t think so then you were in denial. It didn’t mean the person was cheating or going to it just meant they had eyes and they were taking a look.

In less than a week, Synn boarded another charter plane this time her destination LA. It had been to long since she had been back and it was as close to home as she was going to get. As she settled into her seat she pulled out her handheld and began going over the file Adrian had sent. Another case from Wolfram & Hart this time she was going to have to pick up the particulars from their offices from Lindsey in particular.

Lindsey McDonald another person she just hadn’t been able to put out of her mind. In the past, month she knew Adrian’s firm had become entwined with Wolf, Ram, & Hart. All the jobs offers she had recently were from the firm and Synn didn’t want to work for just one organization. If she were interested in that she would have accepted one of the offers she had over the years. She just hoped Adrian knew what he was getting into.

Synn made her way into Lindsey’s office it was more impressive than she expected. It wasn’t one of the top floor offices, but she was certain that given time he would reach that lofty floor.

“You’re earlier than I expected.” He smiled standing up and coming around the table looking every bit the successful attorney. “I was worried after you turned down the last few cases I sent your way.” Lindsey couldn’t stop his gaze from sliding over her appreciatively, apparently today she wanted to blend for she was wearing a sharp little grey suit that buttoned just at the valley between her breasts giving him a very nice view. “Nice look by the way.”

“The file you sent Adrian was incomplete.” Synn replied, her gaze falling on him, and she knew exactly what he was looking at he didn’t even try to hide it. “Enjoying the view?” She asked raising a brow.

Lindsey smiled moving back toward his desk picking up a slender file. “If you didn’t want me to look you should have covered up. Simple assignment really a lot like London should be easy enough for you. Do you have our item from London by the way?”

Synn walked over setting the bag on his desk. Lindsey leaned over glancing into the bag as she took the file out of his hand.

“Can I ask a question?” Synn met his gaze and he nodded reaching into the bag and pulling out the wrapped artifact.

“Why are the cases from you suddenly all retrievals not eliminations?”

“Does it matter?’’ He asked, glancing up as he undid the packaging meeting her gaze and sighed. After the third file was passed on he sent a retrieval wondering why she wasn’t taking the cases wondering if it was because of him, or because of something else. “Fine, because you kept turning them down elimination jobs. Now it’s my turn to ask a question.”

“Sure.” Synn replied flipping through the file.

“Why did you turn down the Leland job?” Lindsey asked, he had hand picked the case the mark was dirty he made sure of it after going though a list of hits their investigators suspected were hers and he wasn’t surprised to find that a lot of them were dirty in one way or another like Varrik.

“Because I was busy with something else, I warned you that simply because you signed with Adrian didn’t mean I would work for you. I take the jobs I wish.” Synn replied glancing up meeting his questioning gaze. “Something personal,” glancing back down at the file she began to consider the possibilities to get the job done quickly.

“What did you think of Angel and his crew?” Lindsey asked curious to see how she would respond. It seemed that most people found the vampire and his rescue act quite moving, hell if his life had been different he might have, as well. Synn left town right after their little meeting and took only jobs that wouldn’t require a lot of time. He wasn’t positive but he was certain the two were connected.

“What do you mean?” Synn asked, he gaze sweeping his features as he rose up before her.

“You met with them didn’t you Angel and his little band of good doers.” Lindsey found himself at odds with Angel and his crew of good doers on more and more lately it seemed their paths just kept crossing.

“Briefly, and it wasn’t significant.” Synn lied smoothly. “I should be able to have this done in a few days, what is the artifact for?” Synn asked realizing after she had spoken the words that she never cared before.

“A summoning ritual,” Lindsey responded leaving it at that she didn’t need to know exactly what they were summoning.

Synn held out the file and Lindsey walked over taking it from her. Lindsey couldn’t stop himself from reaching out and brushing a stray tendril of hair back into place. His fingers brushed across her cheek his gaze sliding over her features settling on her lips. At that moment he really didn’t care how old she was, as the desire to taste her overwhelmed him.

Synn was a little surprised as Lindsey brushed back a lock of hair his fingers brushing against her cheek leaving a burning sensation in their wake his blue eyes raking her face and settling on her lips only fanned the flames. As his head dipped toward hers she found herself tilting her head toward his.

Lindsey kept the first brush of his lips gentle just grazing hers with his own. When she didn’t pull away he slid an arm around her waist his other hand sliding to the side of her check as his lips moved over her own. The way she moved so unsure it was as if this was her first kiss.

Synn let out a little murmur at the shock of the warmth as his lips brushed against hers. Unsure of what to do as his arm slid around her waist pulling her closer trapping her hands between them she let her hands settle against his chest as his other hand slid along her neck gently guiding her head upwards his lips settling upon hers.

Lindsey forced himself to move slowly every fiber of his being wanted to plunge inside her and explore her depths, but he took it slowly his kisses light and teasing increasing in pressure with each brush of their lips. Unable to stop he let his tongue run along her lower lip, and when her lips parted slightly in surprise he took advantage parting her lips and tasting her warmth. As her fingers curled into his chest he pulled her closer molding her against him, his hand sliding down to rest at the base of her spine.

Synn had never been a passive person but at the moment with Lindsey’s arms wrapped around her she found herself pliant in his arms as a rush of pleasure flooded her as his lips parted her own. The sensation of his tongue plunging between her lips was strange at first but that faded away as that pleasure intensified with each demanding stroke. Never in her wildest imagination did she think her first kiss would be like this, but then thinking about her life she really wasn’t all that surprised.

Lindsey groaned as he felt her tongue tentatively met his and the realization that this might just be her first kiss hit home, he wouldn’t have thought it she was too damn beautiful and sensual to actually be the innocent type. Twirling his tongue around her own wanting, needing her response and when he ha it he had his answer this was her first real kiss.

That thought forced Lindsey to pull back slowly her eyes fluttering open exposing those violet eyes that at the moment looked liquid and were filled with desire for him. Lindsey stepped back mesmerized as she reached up her fingers brushing across her lips her gaze settling on his lips then moving back up to his gaze.

A sharp knock at the door forced him to take a step back, and put some distance between them. Lindsey sighed as Lilah Morgan strolled into this office without an invitation.

“I didn’t know you had company.” Lilah stopped just inside the door a smile touching her lips wondering if this was Lindsey’s girlfriend she had assumed he was single but she could defiantly detect something between them but then again she could be wrong.

Synn pulled herself together her gaze assessing the attractive brunette who made herself at home in Lindsey’s office. This could be his girlfriend for all she knew beyond their few encounters she knew nothing about him.

“Lilah is another lawyer here at the firm. Lilah this is Synn she works for Adrian.”

Lilah’s gaze returned to the girl immediately she never would have guessed, but that was the point wasn’t it. The girl was breathtaking Lilah grudgingly admitted, and young. She noted how Lindsey’s gaze slid over the girl before he put some distance between them.

Lindsey watched as Synn transformed right before him from the inexperienced girl he held in his arms moments before back to the creature he knew before their embrace. It was a little alarming how quickly she was able to gather herself together but not surprising.

“So what’s your specialty theft or killing?” Lilah asked taking a seat and enjoying the tension she could sense.

“A little of both,” Synn replied keeping her gaze on Lilah not ready to look at Lindsey at the moment. “I will contact you when the job is done.” Synn moved toward the door not glancing his way and quickly slipped out of the room.

Lilah watched Lindsey as the girl left he looked as if he wanted to run after her. “You really shouldn’t get involved with the hired help, its bad for business.” Lilah purred smirking as he glared at her.

“What do you want?” Lindsey asked, pissed because Lilah had interrupted him and Synn and because she had read him so well. It had been impossible to track Synn over the past few weeks he knew her general location he had even tried their witches, and seers but they couldn’t give him any more than that. Now he would have to wait till she finished the job till she contacted him before he could see her again and he didn’t like that at all.

Synn got into the elevator as quickly as possible. Glad no one was inside she closed her eyes trying to get a hold of herself it was just a kiss she chanted to herself over and over again trying to convince herself. No wonder Adrian stressed the need to keep her life free of such complications. Though she had never indulged herself he suggested that she take her pleasure with whoever she wished so long as it was just one night. Brushing her fingers against her lips she sighed because they were tender and she could still taste him.

After leaving Wolfram & Hart Synn headed toward Adrian’s to pick up a few things she would need, and to ask a few questions of the one person who would and could give her answers.

Stopping at the gate she punched in the code and parked in her spot. The grounds were lush and private and lovely to the eye hiding all the little gadgets that kept unwanted guests out. Heading around the side of the house she went around the back to the entrance through the kitchen. A smile touched her lips as her gaze fell on the woman who always seemed to be cooking, and had been a constant in her life.

Synn opened the door an walked in, Maria didn’t even bother turning around. “Have a seat I have something for you to try.”

“How do you always know when I am coming home?” Synn asked.

Maria merely gave her one of her smiles turning toward her holding a plate. No one would ever guess that Maria was over 200 years old, perhaps older. They never discussed it Synn just happened to find several pictures of Maria from various decades when she was younger. All Synn knew was that it was Maria who taught her magic in its various forms.

“Smells delicious,” Synn smiled taking a bite without question. “What is it?”

“If you like it does it matter?” Maria raised a brow wiping her hands. Maria was slender with black hair and brown eyes, and had looked about 25 since Synn first met her when she was 5.

Synn rolled her eyes and was about to take a bite when Maria grasped her chin her eyes roaming over Synn’s face noting the swollen lips, and the look in her eyes.

“Find what you were looking for on your trip?” Maria asked turning toward the stove. “Eat,” The soft motherly command filled the kitchen.

Synn glanced down at the food before her and took a bite it was delicious as always.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me I was a Slayer?” Synn asked softly.

Synn watched Maria stiffen then relax, so she had known all along. “Tell you what that the girl I helped raised, that I cared for like my own was destined to become the very thing that kills my kind.”

“I kill your kind everyday regardless.” Synn replied, and Maria turned back toward her their gazes clashing.

“That is different you kill for money profit, not for a higher calling. I wanted to protect you I didn’t want to loose you. Little one Slayers die young they are used up and when they die another takes their place. You are far more than that.” Maria whispered.

Synn set her fork aside and rose moving behind Maria as a child she had been the only one to hold her and show her affection. Maria had defied Adrian and taken on a motherly role as well as being a teacher.

“I could never hurt you, no matter what you did. Nor could you ever loose me.” Synn whispered sliding her arms around the other woman, Adrian she could kill if she ever had to, Maria on the other hand was a different story. Though she still kept up boundaries Maria was the closest person to her not a friend not a mother just close.

Maria turned in her arms and they hugged. “I only kept it from you because I thought it best I don’t think I have to tell you about their watcher’s council. I am sure you learned what they are. A bunch of men and women thinking they can control the destiny of the Slayer line, no one can control a force like that.”

Synn smiled pulling away shaking her head. “I know everything I need to know.”

“By the way you are far too young to be wearing that outfit.” Maria sighed shaking her head she could see the slight changes in Synn already and wondered about the girl’s future. Before it had been so clear now things were hazy as the path she had been on shifted and new paths revealed themselves leaving things shrouded from her view. Though Maria hadn’t liked the path she was on before with no purpose other than the next assignment. Always Synn was focused, and controlled.

Synn picked up a few things and after finding that Adrian was not at home, she headed out promising to come by for dinner later that week.

After scouting out the location of the artifact Synn found herself waiting outside Angel Investigations. After watching the building for a short period of time she started the car and headed toward her hotel.

Changing her clothes she dressed in all black though the outfit wasn’t suspicious she looked like she might be going clubbing. Black slightly baggy pants a top that exposed a little stomach and had long sleeves and a handy dandy pair of doc’s.

After bypassing security she walked to the door of the apartment she was breaking into she smirked in less than 5 seconds she had it picked, and was inside. The contents of the apartment weren’t surprising and she settled herself down in a chair and waited for her prey to come home.

Synn watched him from the shadows as he entered the apartment completely oblivious that there someone else in his apartment. He picked up a book flipping through the volume as he headed into the kitchen. It wasn’t a hole mind you but it was a one bedroom apartment he should have noticed her by now.

“You should get an alarm.” Synn smiled as he jumped dropping the cup of soup he was carrying and whirling around to face her.

“You’re back.” Wesley whispered his heart beating fast as he stared at the Slayer she looked completely different so young. It suddenly dawned on him that he was alone with a hired killer, and no one would notice he was missing until the morning perhaps even later.

“Relax if I wanted to kill you would be dead by now.” Synn moved forward glancing down at his supper on the floor. Kneeling down she picked up the mess, and stood up.

“Why don’t I take you to dinner, since I made you spill yours all over the floor?” Synn asked, “I can’t believe you were going to eat that do you know how bad that is for you?”

Wesley just stared at the girl as she moved past him toward the door giving him a calm look.

“I just want to talk.” Synn walked toward the door. “I am hungry your hungry we can eat and talk.” She wasn’t surprised when he stumbled back a step she didn’t blame him after their last meeting.

“You want to talk, and have dinner?” He asked, “You must be joking?”

“Yes, by the way I never introduced myself, Synn Colton.” Synn met his gaze. “After our last meeting I took a little trip wasn’t to sure about everything you said so I went to London. After going though the library at the watcher’s council I found myself intrigued.”

“Watcher’s council, you were in the library how did you? you broke into the watchers council?” Wesley trailed off just staring at her.

“Yes and if you come to dinner with me I can tell you all about it.” Synn opened the door and headed outside. If he came he came if not she would find someone else to help her out.

Wesley stared at the door he didn’t have time to call Angel. After she left the last time Angel had said if any of them saw her to call right away. Grabbing his coat Wesley heading out the door and ran toward the stairs to find Synn at the bottom of the flight of stairs waiting.

“There is a place just down the street, its not bad reasonable prices.” Wesley found himself saying as he headed down the stairs toward her motioning for her to precede him.

Synn glanced over at Wesley as they walked down the street aware of everything going on around them. “You are surprised I came back.” Synn spoke breaking the silence they found themselves in since they left his apartment building.
“Frankly, yes after the first few weeks passed I thought you had moved on.” Wesley gaze slid down the alleyway.

“There is nothing there.” Synn replied not even looking down the alley. At his look she raised a brow. “Trust me.” Synn gave him a sparkling smile, at his look her smile slid away and she rolled her eyes. “It’s a saying I don’t expect you to trust me so don’t get all uptight.” Synn saw the restaurant it was one of those all night diners that was aptly named Moe’s diner.

“Lovely, do you eat here often?” Synn asked moving to open the door only to find Wesley reaching for it. “I can open doors for myself.”

“It’s the gentlemanly thing to do.” Wesley replied, following her inside.

“Seat yourself.” A woman who was about 80 pounds overweight, a cigarette hanging from her lips and graying hair growled from behind the counter apparently not in the mood to seat their patrons.

Synn sat at a booth with her back facing a wall so she could see the front and back entrances. Picking up a menu from the holder on their table she knew she wouldn’t find anything even remotely healthy on the menu. It wouldn’t hurt to eat one burger.

“What can I get you?” Another waitress appeared younger with the lovely faded pink uniform on she looked tired and worn out.

“I’ll have a bacon burger, and an iced tea.” Synn replied glancing over at Wesley.

“I’ll have the same only with a coffee.” Wesley glanced at the girl across from him to see a look on her face. “What?” He asked.

“You’re going to have coffee with your meal?” She asked.

“Yes.” Wesley replied giving her a glance. “There is nothing wrong with having coffee with your supper. Now you wished to talk, why don’t you start with how or why you broke into the watcher’s council?”

“Well that was simple what was I meant to do walk up to the door and say I am a Slayer you have no idea exists so let me in and see what you’ve got going on?” Synn replied shaking her head. “Also, I am not to keen on those guys even knowing I exist. Seems like you didn’t either since they know nothing about me, I wanted to know more also I didn’t believe you. I figured out you were telling the truth, and that you have been how should I put nicely you were asked to leave the council.” Synn smiled as Wesley got all stiff.

“That’s the only reason I am here if you were still part of the council I would have never come back to you.” Synn glanced up as the waitress sat their drinks down. “Thank you.” She replied glancing back at the man across from her. “By the way I thought you might like a copy of these.” Synn pulled out several disks. “That’s only a few of the texts I was able to scan while in the library I was able to download quite a bit from their database, as well. After I learned what I needed I headed to Sunnydale and saw the Slayer there in action. She’s impressive.” Synn sipped her drink glancing over at the door as two young women came and took a booth on the other side of the diner.

“You went to Sunnydale did anyone know you were there?” Wesley asked.

“No.” Synn replied, “She’s good at the Slayer thing but.” Synn shrugged.

“I forget you’re trained to kill people, and be invisible.” Wesley sighed as she met his gaze and he glimpsed the killer within. Even Buffy at her most threatening never caused the sense of dread that trickled down his spine at that moment.

“So now were back to the same question why are you here? Why did you come back?” Wesley asked.

“To give you a second or rather third chance.” Synn replied crossing her arms in front of her and leaning forward. “To be a watcher.” The series of expressions that crossed his face gave her all the answers she needed.

Glancing out the window she gave him a moment to respond but there was nothing. Reaching into her pocket pulling out some cash and tossing it onto the table she moved to get up. It was the first and last time she would reach out to someone in such a way. She had expected it the rejection it didn’t hurt not really just left her feeling empty.

Wesley stared at the money for a second, and made a choice he knew Angel thought the girl a lost cause especially after the incident in the Hotel. Though Wesley thought it was perhaps more hurt pride than anything. The simple fact was she had come to him not Angel she wanted him to be her watcher. He wasn’t given an assignment this time he had been chosen. Getting up Wesley rushed out the door. He saw her heading back toward his apartment building and her car.

“Synn.” He called out, and she glanced back over her shoulder but continued down the street. Teenagers he thought and began to run down the street fully aware that he looked like a complete idiot.

He caught up to her as she opened the door to her car, a sporty little convertible that probably cost more than Angel’s investigations made in six months.

“I will be your watcher.” Wesley managed between heavy breaths. “Nice car by the way.” He managed meeting her gaze.

“What changed your mind?” Synn asked softly her gaze moving over him a little worried because he was breathing like he had just run a marathon.

Wesley held out the cup of tea to Synn as they sat in his apartment. Out on the street he half expected her to get in her car and drive away, but she stayed.

Wesley nodded, sighing softly. “I am the last person you should want as your Watcher. I know that and you know that. My experiences with Slayer’s in the past prove I know little about Slayer’s.” Wesley confessed.

“You were the most promising protégé the Council has seen in years you know what a Slayer should be.” Synn sipped her tea watching him watch her. “I can read all about Slayers in the books, and watch them fight but it means nothing. You made your mistakes and hopefully learned from them.”

Wesley glanced away from her intense gaze, as he mulled over her words. She was in ways the perfect slayer cut off from emotions that could get in the way, but also she was trained in ways the council never dreamed of training any slayer.

“Tell me about yourself.” Wesley sipped his tea sitting back. “You know everything there is to know about me from my file I assume.”

Synn smiled softly. “The council is really detailed in their surveillance of their members.”

Wesley nodded he knew this already. “Nice try, but it’s your turn to tell me about yourself. This won’t work if we don’t trust one and other. I can’t trust you if I don’t know anything about you.” Wesley had learned from his mistakes with Buffy and Faith he didn’t want to repeat them with Synn.

“I’ve never really lived anywhere for more than a few weeks at a time. LA is home if you can call it that because Adrian has a place here it’s where I come back to the most.”

“My mother died when I was six, on a mission she was a merc, a mercenary for hire.” Synn explained.

“I know what a merc is.” Wesley responded dryly.

Synn smiled rolling her eyes at his response. “We never had normal life, or rather I never did. I don’t think there was ever a time I wasn’t training. My earliest memories were of them teaching me one thing or another at first it was fun then it became work. They were teaching me to become part of their team. My father was an assassin actually he was quite good, but not good enough he died two years after my mother.”

Wesley listened, and couldn’t help but asking. “When you talk about them you don’t seem upset that they passed away.”

“They weren’t parents they never filled those roles there were no hugs or kisses, only lessons and training.” Synn glanced away. “Adrian became my guardian when I was 8, and my training intensified I learned magic, demonic languages, and culture anything that would make me a better hunter.” Synn set her mug aside Maria was the first person to ever show her affection but by then she was already who she was Maria was able to adjust her a little but not much.

Wesley sipped his tea because at the moment he really didn’t have anything else to say. Synn didn’t need to learn how to be a Slayer she was the council’s wet dream of a slayer, she was in fact the perfect slayer by their standards.

What she needed to learn was how to be human, how to show compassion and fight for humanity. He wasn’t sure he could teach her these things but he was defiantly going to try.

“That’s enough for tonight we have time to get to know one and other Trust isn’t going to magically form in one night.” Wesley smiled for the first time in a while he felt needed and as if he had a purpose.

“You must be joking.” Angel growled at Wesley as they stood staring at one and other across the room.

“I agreed to be her watcher.” Wesley responded not backing down. Once Angel scared him more than anything, but now someone else held that distinction, a girl not even eighteen. Dear god what he gotten himself into.

“You do remember that the little bitch tried to kill us.” Cordy cut in also fuming over his decision.

“If she wanted to kill us we would be dead.” Wesley responded dryly meeting Angel’s gaze. “She needs us to teach her to be a Slayer. She was never given a chance to be anything other than what she is, a thief and assassin.”

As the two of them just starred daggers at him he asked, “Isn’t that what we do here try to save innocents?”

“She’s not an innocent she’s a predator.” Angel growled his response though he knew Wesley’s words rang true he wasn’t happy about it.

“She’s a Slayer, just like Buffy.” Wesley responded.

“She is nothing like Buffy, if anything she is more like Faith. She works for Wolfram and Hart, don’t forget that. Or for that matter whoever else can pay her asking price.” Angel responded tearing out of the room and heading down stairs. He wasn’t exactly sure why the girl bothered him so much only that she did.

As he entered his apartment downstairs he admitted to himself that he had expected her to come back, but not to join them she worked for Wolfram & Hart and he had been certain that her face would be the last thing he saw before he turned to dust.
