6 – WOLFRAM & HART – QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
They drive to WH in silence. Alika looks outside taking in her surrounding; it was her first time on this dimension.
Once at Wolfram and Hart Angel vanishes into his quarters. Wesley, Spike and Fred take Alika to her to be room.
“Listen Alika, we need to know a little bit more about you, for the sake of everyone at WH, and higher powers that run it. It is not very common to take in a total stranger and new creature just like that, you know … without having something on it… her... you I mean!” Wesley stutters. Fred looks at him perplexed, they’re all acting nervously around Alika; she had never seen Wesley stutter because of a woman.
“MEN!” She thinks in her mind. They had stopped now, in front of Alika’s room.
“Ok love, …have sometime for yourself in the morning we will introduce you to Lorne!” Spike says, but he doesn’t move away, he just stands there looking at her.
“The Phylean daemon?”
“Yes Alika!” Wes says.
“Ok… about that…I’ll do my best. But I already told you what I am, and taking that you are a former overseer you must be a book worm, so you should be able to confirm my story in your books, right? I already told you I’m a vampire-dark-angel, although dark angel, I’m a good creature.”
“Then …why dark angel?” Wes asks lost in her aura. Fred sighs.
“Guys… I’m heading to bed…see you tomorrow!” she says motioning to leave.
“I’ll walk you!” Gunn says. She smiles grateful for the company.
“Ok…see you tomorrow Fred, Gunn and thanks!” Alika says. Fred nods. They leave.
“See ya!” Wes and Spike say turning their attention back at Alika waiting for more answers.
“Well come on in then…I’ll answer your questions but I’m tired of standing!” She says opening the door to her room. Spike and Wesley exchange looks. They normally keep themselves from each others rooms. They shrug their shoulders.
“Ok… !” Spike says going in. Wesley follows. They go in she closes the door.
“Please sit down!” she says looking around the room. It was big; it had a resting and a lounging area. A queen bed centred on the west wall, near the windows that are from top to bottom on the north facade of the room allowing a great view over LA. Near by them there is a small coffee table surrounded by one big sofa and 2 singulars.
“Nice room, great view!” she says.
“Don’t worry those bad UV lights that kill vampires won’t come through those windows love!” Spike says. She turns to look at him.
“Oh… It’s ok… UV doesn’t hurt me!” She says.
“Uhm…?” Wes says surprised looking at her.
“It’s a perk of being a Dark Angel too; the flaws of the vampire are suppressed by the Angel’s merits! They suppress each creature’s flaws and enhance the merits!” They both look at her amazed.
“You mean your angel abilities enhance the vampire ones and protect you from its flaws?” Wes asks amazed.
“Yap… and vice versa! Please sit down guys!” she says walking to the big sofa and sitting down. Spike sits beside her; she expected as much, something was telling her inside he was going to be a constant company, not that she minds, he is funny and nice. Wes sits across from her in a single sofa.
“So in a few words… you ARE a perfect vampire!” Wesley states. Spike turns on his seat facing her.
“Did I ask to marry me yet?” He says making a funny face. She smiles and spreads her hand across his face pushing him back making him fall flat on his back on the sofa. He shivers. Wes rolls his eyes. Alika looks at Spike regaining his composure.
“You ok Spike?” she asks genuine concern on her voice.
“Yah Babe…only… I haven’t felt the touch of a human or non human in a long time, even when I was just a vampire and not yet a ghost… specially a woman’s touch!” he says softly.
“Sorry!” she says genuinely. Wes is looking from her to Spike, although Angel doesn’t seem to trust her, something inside is telling him she is ok. Spike is about to touch her knee reassuring her everything is ok, but stops in mid way.
“Go ahead!” she urges. Spike looks at her saddened.
“You know I can’t! Unless I focus reallllyyyyy hard!!!” He says making a crazy face.
“Don’t focus … just do it…!” She continues. Spike frowns looking at her but complies. And he does touch her knee. He opens his eyes surprised.
“It works both ways…I can touch you and you can touch me if I let you! No need to ghostly-focus on an object to interact with it, like you’ve been learning how to do!” She says. “I’ll help you with some tricks, for as long as I’m here!” She looks at Wesley.
“As being a perfect vampire….no one is perfect! But… sunlight, crosses, garlic and holy water don’t do shit on me!!” She says grinning.
“So nothin’ can destroy you sweets?” Spike asks; his hand still on her knee. She knows he doesn’t want to pull it back, no second intentions there; the only thing he wants is to feel, so she just lets him keep his hand there.
“Not true! The old stake through the heart will and being an angel and being able to fly not hover like a vampire…that makes me an easier target…although I move with the swiftness of vampires!” She says. Wesley is looking at her so intensely she moves in her seat feeling a little uncomfortable.
“Err… I know I’m something new…and you study new things Wesley, but you’re staring a little bit too hard!” Wesley smiles nervously and looks down to the floor embarrassed.
“Sorry.” He says.
“It’s ok I understand you’re interest.” She says. Wesley smiles grateful she’s so understanding.
“But…” Wesley starts but she cuts him off.
“Going back to the Dark-Angel part…right?” She says smiling, trying to cover up her tiredness, travelling through dimension is tiring they know that; but they are too absorbed in her to even remember.
“Damn love! You read minds too?” Spike spits out. She giggles with his surprise.
“No Spike… humans are very predictable. And thank God I don’t, I’m guessing if I read yours, you’d make me blush!” she flirts. Spike lets out a loud laugh.
“I might!” He confirms laughing, she joins the laughter glad to release some stress, Wesley smiles shaking his head. After regaining composure she resumes.
“Well …Wes, I’m from Anglican, I’m sure you can find something about it, on your intra-dimensional library.” Wes raises an eye brow; her knowledge about them is overwhelming. “Where I come from there are angels and vampires, a Dark-Angel is a creature born from the impossible love of both of them…hence Dark from the vampire and angel from the angels of course!” she says making a funny face. Wesley leans back on the sofa.
“So…where you come from, creatures like you are common in…?” Spike pauses looking at her.
“Anglican!” She says
“Right!” he says smiling at her. “So, are they common?”
“No hon. we are a handful, we live in harmony, but each creature keeps to its own race; but once and a while there are ones who fall in love out of their race; kinda like vampires with lycans. Not common but it happens!” Alika says.
“Oh right!” Spike says. Wesley was just listening carefully not wanting to interrupt.
“So you; and all Dark-Angels are fruit of a very strong love then?” Wes asks
“Oh yah!” She says sighing. Spike rubs his hand on her knee trying to comfort her.
“Are your parents still alive, love?” Alika looks at him softly.
“No! Mum …the Angel, ascended to a higher plane and dad forsook his immortality to go with her!” she manages a bitter smile and touches Spikes hand on her knee, holding it in hers.
