"Hey Girlfriend."
Chapter 51
Faith POV
“So.” Andrew starts. “Tell me again why you can’t kick her ass? I mean you’re slayer’s that’s what you do. You go kick her witch-y ass.” He looks around the room, finally his eyes land on Red and he nearly wets his pants. “Sorry Willow… Please don’t skin me.”
“I don’t do that anymore.” Is all she says, looking across the island in the middle of the kitchen, which we are all congregated around. Her arms are crossed across her chest and her head bowed deep in thought.
“Because she’s human Andrew.” Buffy repeats this for the millionth time. “Can’t kill a human.”
”Course we can B. It’s easy.” It’s out of my mouth before I can bite my tongue to keep it back. All eyes turn to me like I’m about to turn into psycho slayer... again. I have to say that I feel like I’ve been hurt the most by this Katherine coming back from wherever she came from. I would love to reach over and just snap her neck then all of this would go away forever. But I can’t. Because it’s wrong.
Xander claps his hands together to bring attention to him. “So we can’t kill her. That’s a big no, no. Could we just send her back to where she came from?”
“No Xander. Last time it was her own doing but it would be inhuman to trap someone forever.” Self-righteous Buffy speaks again.
“As opposed to jail.” I say this under my breath but it’s still picked up by every slayer, ex vampire and werewolf in the room.
Once again Xander places himself in the middle to break the tension. “Prison, couldn’t we just take her to prison?”
“What has she done that is actually illegal?” Willow comes out of her trance like state to answer the poor boy.
“Is trying to kill us all not a criminal offence?” I ask, no one is listening to me again.
He scrunches up his face slightly to think about this. “Willow the master of the computer could put an outstanding warrant for her arrest on the database.” He’s trying I’ll give him that.
“Xander I’m good but I don’t think I’m that good.” Willow says with a slight smile on her face.
“You got Faith off.” Jen jumps into the conversation.
“I wasn’t changing police records. I was changing county records. I basically killed the old Faith and gave her a new identity. Surprisingly much easier than changing police records. Besides she would be able to escape without a problem with all of that magic behind her.”
“What about if we suck all her power? Surely that can be done right?” Jen asks.
“She has way too much power to suck, would have to do it at least once a day for a long time and then we would have to find somewhere to put it…” Willow answers.
“Couldn’t you just make it go poof?” Xander asks with a goofy grin.
This time it is Andrew who seems to know something about the subject. “Well I am guessing that magic cant be created or destroyed like matter cant in physics?”
“Point for Andrew” Red offers.
“Well what the hell are we meant to do?” Spike asks sounding slightly annoyed.
I look around at everyone in turn, blank expressions on all faces.
“So we have no plan? That makes me feel so much not better.” Amy adds.
“How about memory loss?” Willow asks.
“You mean like the time that you wiped all our memories? ‘Cause that was such a fun day, almost dying and almost getting it on with my best friend and making my fiancé kiss Giles!” Xander says with a smirk.
“Well yeah… sort of like that, maybe have her forget about all the magic and all of that and make a new life for her you know?”
“Will that work? We still figured some stuff out, had intuition and feelings about each other and ourselves.” Bubble bursting Buffy.
“Make it stronger, make it full of good magic… keep an eye on her afterwards just to make sure she is still all none evil and not going to kill us.” Willow says with a bit more confidence.
Giles takes off his glasses again; he drops them on the table and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Whatever we do we need to think of it fast, the longer we leave her the stronger she will be.”
“How about we forget about what we’re going to do once we get her and focus on getting her in the first place?” Spike asks looking around the room.
“I agree with Spike and Giles, longer we leave it the stronger she will be so we have to get her sooner rather than later, couldn’t we get her and then do the magic sucky thing until we figure out what to do for good?” I add.
I can’t be bothered with this conversation any more. If it had been me all of those years ago B would have had no problem feeding me to her vampire lover. I know it’s slightly out of perspective. But come on. How was what I did any worse than what she has done?
I bring my eyes back to the group and my vision is draw to a pair of legs hanging off the edge of the counter. No one was sitting on the counter last time I looked.
I pull my eyes upwards and the face I see makes me drop the mug filled with scolding coffee. It lands on the floor and shatters.
Red is at my side in an instant asking if I’m okay. I don’t pull my eyes away from the figure sitting directly in front of me.
She lifts her lips into a smirk. “Hey girlfriend.”
