O`CONNELL`S HOME – JONATHAN’S BATHROOM, - NIGHT
“Haven’t I told you that I don’t want parties in my house?” the American whispered, sure his brother-in-law was still in the bedroom, probably already dead.
Before Rick had a chance to grasp the situation, there was a flicker of light and there was Willow standing beside the tub, one hand under water.
“Rick.” She said winking at him and then she fished Jonathan out of the tub by pulling his hair. “Jonathan.”
At the sight of O’Connell’s face Jonathan started immediately talking, not even taking enough time to spit out all the water he had in his mouth. “All this has nothing to do with me! They were after you! I am innocent!”
“You are innocent?”
“At least I’m not guilty!”
“This is not important we have to get out of here, remember your wife and son?” Willow said surprisingly quiet to Rick while the warrior was using the short pause to reload, to then turn to Jonathan, “Sister and nephew?”
“Shit.”
Rick pointed to the large window on the opposite side of the big bathroom. Jonathan twisted the face and shook his head.
“Willow why don’t you do a little of your light show to get us out of here?” the Brit said, but as he turned the redhead was already gone.
Then once again the shots stopped and Rick grabbed Jonathan’s arm.
“Cover your face, NOW!” was all the warning O’Connell gave as he ran through the room, pulling Jonathan with him and out through the window.
They broke through the glass, falling from the second floor to the ground, where they landed in a heap of glass.
O`CONNELL`S HOME – LIBRARY, - NIGHT
Alex remained in his corner holding onto the box and watched the fighting that tore the library to pieces and destroyed a number of irreplaceable items. As one of the Warriors came toward him, Alex buzzed away, hitting a shelf while doing so. The shelf swayed for a short moment to then fall burying the man.
The small boy, not for the first time, wondered were his father was, he could only hope that he was well and would soon come to help them.
Suddenly there was a Warrior standing over Alex, grabbing for the box, with his other hand swinging a dangerous sword. Maybe the Warrior was not cold-blooded enough to kill a little child, so the boy and the man struggled for the box; finally the Warrior was the winner as he pulled the box out of Alex’s hands. He grinned triumphantly, just before he was drilled by Ardeth Bay’s sword. The dying man let go of the box, as he hit the ground. Alex wanted to get it, but in the space between the boy and the box there was fighting and he was afraid. He was only eight years old and being this age he was allowed to be afraid.
In the middle of the fight with Lock-nah, Bay yelled, “What is in this small box?”
Smashing a big glass container over the head of a Warrior, Evelyn answered breathlessly, “It’s… the bracelet of Anubis!”
The dark clad Warrior was obviously horrified “You have it?”
Out of breath she could just nod.
“Take it!” Ardeth screamed, “Take it and disappear with it!”
“But...”
“NOW! Thpeoppeople are not allowed to get their hands on it!”
Alex from the corner where he was now hiding could only watch as his mother let go of her sword and got hold of the box.
A mountain of flesh stepped out of the shadow and grabbed Evelyn. Her verbal or physical protests could not prevent her from being carried away.
“They have mum!”
Bay turned round; Lnah nah used this opportunity, and hit Ardeth with his sword making a gaping wound on his left forearm. Hit by the pain Bay staggered into a display case.
Lock-nah turned and discovered a shocked Alex crouching in the corner. The man flung his sword crossways through the room. Sure that he would die, Alex lost consciousness. Before the sword could touch the boy, a redhead appeared out of nowhere, holding her hand out in a silent order.
The sword hit the floor as if it had hit an invisible wall.
Dark eyes full of met met, glowingly green ones that held a warning.
“Don’t ever try something like that again.”
As Alex opened his eyes again he was in Willow’s arms, his eyes flew round the room but the men and his mother were gone.
O`CONNELL`S HOME – BEHIND THE HOUSE, - NIGHT
“Am I still alive?” was Jonathan’s first question, as soon as the ringing in his ears stopped. His tuxedo was torn up but there was no blood.
“Theoretically yes!” O’Connell got up and shook himself to get rid of the splinters like a dog after a bath. He pulled Jonathan up, because in the window they had smashed through was the Arab with his machine-gun starting to let it rain lead. The turves and gravel from the sidewalk were whipped up.
The bullets turned gravel to dust, while Jonathan and Rick ran for their lives turning a corner.
“We have to go to the main entrance.” O’Connell said, “I want to make sure that Evey and Alex are fine!”
Jonathan didn't have any objections and followed his brother-in-law, striding around the house. As they rounded the corner they saw a black sedan drive away at high speed. They recognized Evey in the side window fighting against a man holding her, as she looked helplessly out. Then there was another hand placed over her mouth and the curtain was closed.
“Evey!” shouted O’Connell in despair. “Evey!”
He started to run after the car in vain, the sedan rushed with Evelyn out into the dark stormy night.
O’Connell and Jonathan saw the red curtain pulled away from the rear window and for a short moment there was Evelyn’s face.
O`CONNELL`S HOME – GRAVEL DRIVE, - NIGHT
As if the situation wasn't already terrible enough, a thunderstorm was breaking at this moment. There was lightning and thunder not to forget that it had started to rain.
Full of worry, and at the same time terribly angry, Rick turned towards his brother-in-law, as lightning illuminated the night.
“Where is my damned car?” he screamed in rage and grabbed Jonathan’s shoulder, as if he wanted to shake him like a naughty child.
“Behind the House! In the garage.” He replied.
“Good.” Rick pointed towards the house, “You go and look for Alex, I’m sure he is with Willow…”
Again there was noise but this time it was not thunder but the telling noise of an engine and the light that tracked them was not lighting but the light of the headlights of the second sedan that came around the house heading towards them.
Rick grabbed Jonathan and threw him to the ground; they rolled aside and only just escaped being hit by the vehicle.
