Chapter 5
Hospital Corridors
“There’s Ben” Dawn started to walk towards him
“Don’t see why we don’t just kill the bloke Dawn, he tried to hurt you.”
“No Spike that was not him, Glory took over his body, sides that he’s a doctor, he’s a good guy.” Dawn replied accepting no further argument.
“Go to it Bit.” Spike said
Dawn grabbed Ben by the wrists before he could even register that Dawn was glowing a beautiful pale shade of green. Buffy was standing to her left and Spike to her right she started chanting “GLORIFICUS LEAVE THIS HOST. NO OTHER FOR YOU. NO MORTAL BODY. NO DEMON BODY. BE GONE.”
They all saw the brilliant red light leave Ben’s body, float above him take the form of Glory and disperse into millions of pieces
“Dawn, what did you do? I can’t feel her anymore, for the first time in my life I can not feel Glory. Thank you.” Ben said gratefully.
Dawn was starting to fall. Spike caught her and her left hand fell upon his chest. Wow I can feel what Spike feels. He loves me. He loves Buffy more than anything, Wow to have that kind of love. Blinding. Dawn stood up on her own and looked at Spike with tears shining in her eyes “Thank you Spike, for loving us that much.”

I can’t believe that little bitch got me out of his body. Well she should be rewarded. I will recuperate then I will kill them all. For taking me out of his mortal’s skin like that I will show no mercy

“Buffy I need to talk to you”
“Yeah Dawn what’s up?”
“I uh…remember yesterday? At the hospital?”
“Yeah how could I forget? My glowy green sister!”
“Yeah well when I fell into Spike? I felt his heart…”
“Spike doesn’t have a heart”
“Buffy you know better than that. Spike loves us – wait – I am not done.” She rai raising her hand when Buffy tried to interrupt. “He loves me like a little sister. And you? He worships you, his love for you is blinding, like it can not be contained, cause there’s too much of it. He’d do anything you asked. Anything. If you would only give him a chance to show you….”
“Dawn I can’t he’s evil remember? Just because he has that stupid chip it doesn’t mean anything if he got it out or it stopped working….. I just can’t trust him. And I shouldn’t! Hello? Slayer here, he’s supposed to be my enemy!”
“Like Angel was your enemy?
“That’s not fair Angel has a soul.”
“Yeah and when he lost it? His demon hates you Buffy, and you know it, just as much as the man inside the demon loves you.”
“It’s not that simple.”
“Why because it’s you? And Angel? Sorry I forgot don’t say anything bad about precious Angel.”
“It’s not that I just……”
“Buffy don’t you think you deserve someone who loves you wholeheartedly? Cause no matter what you think Spike does love you. He may go about showing it the wrong way sometimes but, He would do anything for you. Would you feel differently if he had a soul?”
“I ….I don’t know”
Dawn reached over and placed her right palm against Buffy’s heart She already loves him, But she’s scared. She is scared that he will hurt her or someone else she loves if she gives in to her love.
“Love. Give. Forgive. Risk the pain. That’s what she told you?”
Buffy nods
“Buffy, love will bring you your gift. You are full of love. Death is your gift? Spike is death. The Slayer of Slayers? He is supposed to be your death, but instead he loves you. Spike is your gift. Your shot at happiness. Plus he is your equal. His strength matches yours. His heart matches yours. He is already yours all you have to do is open your gift.”

“Spike?”
He heard Dawn call him from the basement of his crypt
“Yeah Niblet, I’m here.” He shouted on his way up to the main level
“I was……., listen I have to ask you something ok?”
“What’s on your mind Bit?’
“Well at the hospital yesterday? I felt your heart, I felt what you feel, all that you feel for Buffy and me. I want to know if you would let me do something for you?”
“And what’s that Bit?”
“Well, I talked to Buffy today and found out a few things. Like for instance she needs you to have a soul….to be able to trust herself with you, but not just herself, her friends and me. Angel had a soul and she trusted him even after he lost it.”
“So you want to curse me? No thanks I ….. if I am gonna get a shot with Buffy I want all of her not just until I get a happy. I mean forever.”
“Well I meant I would make it permanent, but that’s not all, I want to remove your chip.”
Remove my chip? I could hunt, kill feed…….no I wouldn’t I love Buffy wouldn’t want to give her any reason to stake me. “You could do that? Why would you do that?” Spike asked shock evident in his voice.
“Yes I could and I would because Spike, I love Buffy too and I know, I know she could and would let herself love you if you had a soul. And I already love you so what could be better than the two people I love most in this world being together and happy? Spike you are strong, you are Buffy’s equal. You are a warrior, and you would fight to the death for both of us. You almost let Glory kill you because you were protecting me.”
“Let me think about it ok Dawn? This is a lot to take in. And magic has a price, need to know what the price is before I agree.”
“Ok”

“Hi ho Hi ho, it’s off to patrol we go”
“Very funny Dawn” Buffy rolled her eyes at her sister.
All of the Scoobies including Spike were sitting around the table at the magic box.
“Giles I told you those new brainsuck victims cannot be made by Glory, Dawn killed her. She set Ben free.”
“I’ll check with my Dagon sphere.” Dawn was so happy. She was watching Buffy watch Spike. Thank god no one else had noticed. Yet. That was her last thought before picking up the Dagon sphere.

“I need to know about these brainsuck victims, Giles thinks they are the work of Glory”
“Score one for the watcher”
“So they are from her? We thought I killed her!”
“No you didn’t yet. You just forced her to leave Ben’s body. And did not allow her to enter someone else’s.”
“So how do I kill her?”

Guess that’s where she wanted me to be, at the top of that tower her crazies made. Much better that I’m down here. Uh oh here she comes. Dawn thought to herself, standing her ground.
Dawn could feel her eyes go black. Thank goddess I have a hold of Tara’s hand. She grounds me. “THICKEN” she heard herself growl. Must have worked she’s not coming any closer.
“Look at the Bit Buffy, she’s gone into a trance.” Whispered Spike only loud enough for Buffy to hear. “I thought she only did that when she had the Dagon Sphere?” He questioned quietly.
