The Failure
It was his fault, it was. His father was not looking kindly down upon him now. He had gone too far. Her refusal to accept his love had frustrated him. He hadn't meant to truly hurt her, but the sounds of her whimpers, her pain, had excited him and before he could contain himself he... went too far...
She would forgive him if he could find her. Everything he did was out of love, and to bring their son into the world. She would forgive him. Yes, he had torn through her throat, broken her collar bone and bit through the side of her face, but he had stopped, he had felt sorry for it. Before he could even think that she might die, he could see the magic of her blood, whatever that was, healing the horrible wounds. She would forgive him, and she would just learn to be more careful in the future.
Whatever manner of beast it is within her chose that moment to come forward, robbing him of a chance to properly apologize. The danger he had seen in her eyes stopped him cold, his beautiful wife looked at him with hatred. He could not move, knowing that she was being possessed by some other force. It could not be his wife that had wanted him dead at that moment. She was forced to attack him, forced to try to kill her own true love. Even if she hadn't confessed to herself yet that they were soul mates like the gods Shiva and Parvati, she knew inside, her soul knew that he was her master, her lover, the only one who could be the father to her future children. She had attacked and to his shame, he had known fear, for a moment he was actually frightened. He had thrown her through the great window overlooking his garden. By the time he understood that it was a simple possession, she had already broken through the barred door to the halls beyond.
A long pink tear slid down his face as he looked to his father in the heavens for guidance. How scared she must be, the poor child thinks that I cast her away. She must be distraught; she must think that she has failed as a woman, failed as my wife. He rubbed his damp eyes.
He had swallowed his pride and gone to the child vampire's room. She had insulted him, and he said nothing, he deserved it. He had sent Valentina out to find her; he had sent everyone out to find her. It was four days ago that Marcus had brought Claudio's body back. They had found her for a moment drinking from a stream like an animal. Oh, how low she must feel to not even think that she deserved to act like a person, that she only had worth as a common beast. He did not blame her for killing Claudio, that she had ripped his head off with her bare hands bothered him. His wife should not have to suffer the sight of such gore; it wasn't fit for a woman. Their delicate sensibilities could not handle such brutality. No, Claudio's death had only convinced him even further that he had to save her, she had to know that he forgave her, that he still loved her and no feminine weakness on her part would ever change that.
Yes, he knew how he would prove to her his devotion. After she gave him a son, he would make her a vampire to be at his side for eternity, unless she wanted more children of course, he was a generous vampire after all. He walked to the balcony overlooking the cold dark countryside and imagined at that very moment that she was also looking up at the sorrowful moon.
"My LOVE!" he roared. "I FORGIVE YOU!"
And he did know hope, he hoped that she would come back to him...
