Old Dead Friends
“I was sorry to hear about the death of your friend.” Wesley stopped looking at the books.
“What do you know about it?” Wesley said with such acid in his voice.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t help her, but you know we couldn’t.” Wesley quickly turned and threw a knife at Giles, narrowly missing his head.
“I suggest you change to subject.” Wesley said quietly. He turned back and found the book he was looking for and opened on the table beside him.
“I’ll be back with the others soon, when they’re safe I’ll help you.” Wesley looked up at him and moved menacingly towards Giles. He pulled his knife out from behind Giles. He put it back inside what looked like a Swiss army knife that came out from his wrist.
“I suggest you start preparing.” Wesley told him, and Wesley spoke some words from the book and he disappeared.
“Pillock.” Giles said after he disappeared.
Xander waited quietly in his cell waiting for whatever decree was coming. New sexy Wesley had been rather cryptic, but he could feel his need to kill rising inside of him. If they didn’t let him out he was going to have to find a way to break out. He could hear everything, the worms in the walls, the birds outside, and he knew now wasn’t the right time to strike, he could even feel the sun from under the earth. Then he felt heartbeats, he felt them inside him. His body wanted to consume them, then he smelled their scents on the air. Willow, Buffy. They were coming down, they were talking, Willow congratulated Buffy on getting together with him. Then she found out it was after he was turned. She wasn’t happy. They reached the door and Buffy opened it and Willow stepped in.
“Hi Xander.”
“Hi Will.”
“So you look different.”
“I feel different, I think it’s the Pilates.” Xander quipped and Willow just kept looking at him.
“Did it hurt?”
“Only for a second.” Willow looked like she was going to cry, she moved closer to him.
“No!” He said and he backed into the shadows.
“Xander, you’re not gonna hurt me.”
“It won’t be for lack of trying.”
“It’s alright; we’ve got a way to fix this.”
“Sure you do what you’re going to fix me like Angel? Or like Spike maybe? Like some sort of dog on a leash? I couldn’t do that.”
“Well you never know until you try!” Willow said and tears started to come down her cheeks. Xander despite himself moved out of the shadows. He forced himself to change into the monster he had become.
“Is this what you want me to be like for eternity? A monster?” He asked her and he growled quietly.
“I became a monster too you know, I got over it.” Willow answered, and Xander’s face softened.
“I don’t think so Willow.” Xander put his arms around her and she fell into his arms.
“We had a good run Will, all of us, but sometimes things end.” Xander told her as he stroked her hair trying not to cry himself, and he was evil.
Angel lay on the ground of Hyperion alley and felt the blood from his very heart drip out of him. The last soldier had stabbed him right in the chest, luckily with a sword instead of spear or a stake but it still didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. But they important thing was that they were all dead. He and Spike had even personally slain the dragon. They’re nothing but bodies all around them. He was content, he was ready to let go. He could hear an old song that his mother used to sing him to sleep with in his head, like she was calling him. Then he heard someone call his name. Suddenly the sword was ripped out of him.
“Angel!” He heard his name again while Angel screamed in agony.
“Good to know you’re still alive.” He heard the voice say. He heard other groans, Spike, Gunn, and Alyria.
“You have to get up Angel.” He heard the voice say. He opened his eyes slowly, and then he saw a dead man. Wesley Wyndham-Price was staring down at him, shaking him slightly.
“You’re dead.” Angel heard himself say.
“Long story.” Wesley replied.
“Can’t wait to hear it.” Angel heard Spike say as he limped toward them.
“Can you get up?” Wesley asked.
“Yes, but I don’t know how much more I can do after that.”
“We have to hurry more are coming.”
“How are we going to get out of here?” Spike asked, Angel slowly got up and saw Alyria holding Gunn up, he looked barely alive.
“I’ve got it all arranged, but I can take just one at a time, do you understand?” Wesley said as he held up Angel.
“Alright, take Gunn first.” Angel said and Wesley nodded and held on to Gunn tightly.
“Don’t take advantage now.” Gunn sputtered, and Wesley nodded. Then Wesley disappeared. He quickly returned, and took Alyria, then Spike, then finally Angel. Angel felt his skin being pulled at then he found himself in a dungeon. He smelled odd things, girls, lots of girls, and power, power everywhere.
“Where are we Wesley?”
“Cordelia Chase School for Gifted Young Women.” Wesley quickly answered.
Willow slowly closed Xander’s dungeon door. She looked at Buffy and hugged her.
“Do you know what happened?”
“He doesn’t want to talk about it. But Wesley said that he has a way to fix it, and in return I have to protect Angel and Co. So whatever it is I’m going to do it.”
“I feel people here.” Willow said as she looked around.
“They must be here.” Buffy said and they made their way up the stairs. Andrew ran down the hall with a wad of gauze in his hands.
“Hi Willow.” He said as he raced down the hall. He ran into the small clinic that they had near Giles office. Willow and Buffy ran down to the clinic and they saw a medium-sized black man being sewed up by Giles.
“That’s Gunn.” Willow said and she walked in and looked at the damage. Gunn looked like he had been put through a thrashing machine. He was bleeding from a million different places and the gauzes seemed to fill with blood the second they touched his body. “Move.” Willow said and Giles looked at her and he moved slowly out of the way. She cleared her mind and felt every cut on his body; they stung her like paper cuts. She used her mind to close them, slowly, and sweetly, they all began to come together, but she couldn’t do them all. There were too many, but she let those go, if she tried to hard she would lose herself. She closed the large gashes and tried to take as many of the small ones as she could. She opened her eyes and he was still seeping from a few holes but she knew that she had made him better.
“Thank you Willow.” She heard from behind her, Wesley stood behind her and she looked into his eyes, they looked so sad, like he had lost the world.
“ I didn’t get everything, but he’ll pull through.” She told him quietly, and he looked very pleased.
“What about the others?” Willow asked.
“There in the dungeon, Andrew’s taking care of them. But they’re healing on their own.”
“ I should probably go down and see them.” Buffy said and Wesley turned and stopped her.
“Don’t!” He said and Buffy looked at him confused.
“ I don’t want you to go down and upset them, they need to heal.” Wesley told her and Buffy nodded her head.
“Fine, but I’m not protecting people I can’t even see. Come on Will let’s go find a way to fight against an evil law firm, that sounded kind of redundant didn’t it?” She told him and he nodded. Willow looked at him, and then she felt it.
“I’ll be there in a minute.” She said and she pulled Wesley out into the hall, and made sure they were far away from the clinic. “Spike’s not dead?”
“Damn, I was hoping you wouldn’t see that.”
“ So he isn’t dead, how is he not dead, Buffy said he disintegrated.”
“He got better.”
“He got better, that’s you’re answer?”
“Best I have at the moment.”
“Fine, but Buffy’s going to have kittens when she finds out.”
“We’ll these things aren’t fun unless their complicated aren’t they?” Willow sighed and made her way down the hall with Wesley.
Wesley walked into the dungeon and Angel stared at him.
“ How’s Gunn?”
“He’s going to be alright.”
“Alright second question. She said you died.”
“ I did.”
“But you keep moving around.”
“I used a spell to bind myself to Alyria; in case anything happened to her I would know. I did it after we reduced her powers. I had no idea that it would keep me alive as long as she was alive.”
“So what you’re like a zombie?” Spike chimed in, he spoke through the only fairly open part of his mouth, he looked like a pincushion, and his face was black and blue and puffy all over. Angel also shared the puffy look along with a severe limp in his right leg.
“No, I’m just a dead person, like you and Angel but without all the blood drinking and such.”
Alyria appeared beside Wesley.
“You bound yourself to me?”
“I was the only way I could be sure that they wouldn’t try to hurt you. I didn’t know that it would mean that I would remain. Otherwise I never would have asked you too...” He trailed off and she looked at him.
“How did you get them to protect us?”
“It’s complicated.”
“Un-complicate it.”
“They have a situation that I think I can help with.”
“You’re not going to tell us are you?” Spike said as he lay back down.
“Not at the moment, listen; I have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it in. Alyria do you think you can move this?” Wesley asked and he pointed to the marble slab that Spike rested against. Alyria nodded her head and she moved it slightly and slowly. It was filled to the brim with some sort of pink gunge.
“Get in.” He said to Spike and Spike’s facial expression produced a definite no.
“It’s Blyram, it’s going to heal you faster, just soak in it until the morning then we’ll work from there. Alyria get the other one.” She moved the second slab, then the third. She herself got into the third coffin filled with liquid.
“Just recuperate and I will be back tomorrow.” Wesley said as he began to walk back out. Even though he was dead he was exhausted.
“What do you know about it?” Wesley said with such acid in his voice.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t help her, but you know we couldn’t.” Wesley quickly turned and threw a knife at Giles, narrowly missing his head.
