Chapter 5
The next day Buffy woke up with a smile on her face which was definitely a rare thing for early morning Buffy. Today was Saturday and she had made plans with Willow to go shopping at the mall and to catch a movie before having a mini slumber party.
That’s a hell of a lot of alone time.
Buffy frowned slightly and bit her lip. She really didn’t want to push Willow away and she would be happy to settle for friendship but Buffy was sure that there was something there.
There has to be the way she looks at me sometimes…
Buffy pushed the deep thoughts away and quickly dressed in a pair of low rider jeans and a pale blue tank top that showed off her flat belly. She was going for casual and relaxed since they were only going shopping but she also put on a bit of make up and fussed over her hair a little. It was Willow after all!
She heard a knock at the door and ran downstairs to see her mom open the door to Willow.
“Hello? I'm Willow Buffy’s friend.” Willow smiled at the older woman and Buffy beamed proudly. A week ago Willow would have stuttered and stumbled her way through that sentence and Buffy was proud that Willow had regained some confidence.
“Hey Willow Mom this is Willow we’re going shopping okay?” Buffy asked giving her mother a sweet smile. Joyce laughed at her daughter’s pouty lip and shook her head.
“Come on my purse is in the kitchen. Willow you can take a seat in the living room if you want.” Joyce offered kindly before making her way to the kitchen.
“Why haven’t I heard about her?” Joyce asked with a raised eyebrow.
“You have…she’s a friend from school.” Buffy sighed shifting her feet nervously.
“No you’ve mention Xander and Jesse and a gang of friends you hung around with I don’t recall you saying anything about a little red head.” Joyce teased giving her daughter a knowing look.
“I forgot.” Buffy sighed.
“Is she the friend you said was sleeping over tonight?” Joyce asked.
“Yes.” Buffy grumbled again nervously.
“Buffy…”
“Mom come on! She’s just a friend honestly! She’s straight in other words not interested in me.” Buffy sighed.
Joyce had been the first person Buffy told when she realised that she wasn’t like other girls and constantly obsessed over boys. Instead she had realised she liked girls and had told her mother straight away not wanting to hide something that huge from her mom. Joyce had been very accepting and just smiled as her 15 year old daughter told her the news. She had told Buffy that she had already guessed as much because Buffy had never really seemed happy with any of the many boys she had dated and that she still loved her no matter what.
“Are you sure? I'm very open minded honey but ive told you im not fully comfortable with your girlfriends staying over.” Joyce explained.
“Mom im telling you there’s nothing she’s straight,” Buffy sighed yet again.
“I'm guessing you’re not happy with that from the look on your face.” Joyce said sympathetically running a hand down her baby girl’s face.
“If she wants to be friends then I want to be friends.” Buffy stated with no emotion in her voice clearly upset by the situation. Joyce sighed and handed Buffy $90 and her credit card wincing slightly when she saw Buffy’s eyes light up.
“Maximum of a $100 okay? I don’t wanna be broke.” Joyce sighed and smiled after her daughter as she disappeared into the living room to get her “friend”.
“Buffy! You’re really getting that!” Willow asked with wide eyes staring at the very revealing top Buffy had just picked out. She glanced down at it self consciously and then back up at Willow.
“You don’t like it?” Buffy asked.
“No I mean…its just…revealing.” Willow blushed.
Buffy grinned at the shy girl and laughed when she ducked her head nervously.
“That’s the whole point!” Buffy joked.
“I'm kidding Will…I like it though it’s nice.” Buffy smiled happy with her purchase.
“Yeah it probably would be nice on you. Me on the other hand…” Willow trailed of sighing sadly. Buffy saw the girl stare at a shiny green top that was on the rail next to her forlornly.
“I think you’d look hot in it.” Buffy shrugged.
Willow gasped and stared at Buffy spluttering for something to say.
She thinks I’d look hot?!
“I…I couldn’t.” Willow stuttered.
“Come on Will come with me.” Buffy smiled encouragingly taking the girls hand and dragging her into a nearby shop.
“Okay not that I don’t like what you normally wear. But how about you pick out a brand new outfit to wear to school on Monday?” Buffy suggested guiding Willow over to a pair of jeans nearby.
“No I mean I couldn’t.” Willow shook her head nervously.
“Why not?” Buffy countered crossing her arms over her chest which pushed her boobs up. Willow blushed when she realised she had just stared at her friends breasts before looking back at the jeans on display.
“I'm not you Buffy. You have confidence…you look good…” Willow tried to explain.
“And you do too Will! You don’t even realise how beautiful you are do you! You’re a dish Will you just need to show off a little more.” Buffy pleaded.
“You think im beautiful?” Willow smiled shyly.
Buffy grinned back and raised a hand cupping Willows face.
“Definitely.” She smiled before moving away hoping she hadn’t been to obvious and given away her true growing feelings for the red head.
Willow bit her lip and considered the pair of jeans next to her.
Ah screw it why not.
She picked up the pair of jeans and smiled when she saw Buffy beam back at her.
Almost two hours later and with well over 20 shopping bags they both were sat in the cinema their bags at their feet giving their legs and feet a well earned brake.
“I hope this film is good.” Buffy whimpered and leaned back in her seat feeling the ache in her back drain away.
“I heard it’s good.” Willow spoke softly as the lights went down and the screen lit up.
Buffy looked at Willow out of the corner of her eye and smiled when she saw the almost tense look in her friend’s eyes. Ever since she had seen Willow try on her new outfits Buffy had been determined to let the red head know exactly how she felt with little touches casual comments and sly looks. Willow had obviously noticed and not said anything as she was wondering why the blonde was acting so weirdly.
It’s almost like…she likes me or something.
As soon as the idea filled her head Willow frowned and shook her head.
Don’t get your hopes up Will. No chance in hell. Anyway remember YOU LIKE BOYS!
Willow tensed up when she felt Buffy lean in and she almost moaned when she felt Buffy’s hot breath on her neck.
“You want some popcorn?” Buffy asked. Willow nodded nervously and grabbed a few pieces shoving them into her mouth quickly. Not once taking her eyes away form the screen. Buffy sat back in her seat again smirking to herself.
Oh yeah she wants me!
