Chapter 5/6
Sorry, forgot to warn that there is a bit of character death in this. And a bit of bashing but I can't warn you of who yet or that would be cheating.
Chapter 5
Buffy went to work like normal, after relaying the news that Dawn was gone for the day along with John. There was a flash of panic on Xander’s face before it smoothed over again. He left not long after, secretly going to visit Amy for a spell.
The witch had been damn nervous around him but a little friendly persuasion had her scurrying for supplies to produce a location spell. She’d secretly already visited with Buffy, which was why she was so nervous. She was still working on the blond’s project but felt the dangerousness of the situation. Forcing herself to calm, she cast the circle and told him where his missing friend was. As soon as he was out the door she picked up the phone to call the slayer.
Once he had Dawn’s location he hurried over to the hotel she was staying and knocked on the door. There were muffled scuffles before a red-eyed girl answered. His heart leapt in joy but his alter ego won over. She stumbled back with a scream, her cheek blazing from an angry mark,” Running away? I warned you about that.”
He jerked when the blankets moved, revealing two very angry individuals. Willow had her hands clenched to control herself but Spike was far past that point, his stride eating up the distance until he was within claws distance of the whelp. The redhead immediately moved to comfort Dawn and a crying John while Spike grabbed him by his neck and hoisted him into the air. With the new soul had come the destruction of the chip. Perfect for situations like this,” I’ve waited a long time for this.”
“ Spike. Don’t.”
He turned to head at his Nibblet’s voice. Her eyes looked almost dead, holding onto the ex-witch tightly. She was shaking all over,” Please don’t.”
He let out a small snort, looking back at the boy but put him down, not backing up an inch. There was the sound of squealing tires outside before a barely kept Buffy burst in on the scene. She screeched to a halt, looking from her sister who was trying to crawl into as small a place as possible, her best friend she hadn’t seen in years, and Spike who looked about ready to go off and kill everybody.
The blond jerked a little, surprised but didn’t say anything. She was too shocked to say anything as she watched the gun being leveled at her. She looked up into the sneering face and frowned in confusion,” Xander?”
She’d known something had been wrong with him for years since Anya had left but she just couldn’t put her finger on it. All that faded when the shot fired, the echo carrying as the bullet headed straight and true for it’s target. All that she could think was not again as she hit the ground, a gaping wound in her chest. With vampire speed the gun turned to fire straight at Spike’s head, the impact throwing his body back and on top of the slayer.
“ You will never leave me again!”
Both Willow and Dawn screamed, picking up John and running for the door. Neither had magical abilities and they didn’t want to risk either fallen friend further, should they survive. They darted out into the sunlight, Xander in close pursuit.

Buffy shot back to consciousness, gasping softly as blood continued to fill her mouth. She could feel the pull for the eternal sleep and wasn’t sure how much time she had. Looking up into the peaceful face before her, she suddenly realized how stupid she’d been. All the time they’d lost, when she could have been happy and all she’d had to do was accept that fact that sometimes you can’t control who you fall in love with.
She thought back through all the times he’d tried to tell her. To all the wonderful and completely selfless things he’d done for her and her friends. She was an idiot and now it looked like he was dying to protect her friends yet again.
Biting into her lower lip, watching him grow paler and paler, she decided he was worth saving. Soon she wouldn’t need the blood anyway. With a grimace she tore into her wrist, waiting until it bled before using what little strength she had left to push him to the side. Following, she put the bleeding wound over his mouth and sighed with relief when he started to gently suckle.
*
Willow and Dawn ran, John carried from one to the other as they made it across the street and ducked into the cemetery,” Dawn! Stop!”
The two split up, trying to break Xander’s concentration but he was headed directly for the former key,” I told you you’ll never leave me!”
Willow turned with John in her arms, her face setting as Xander continued to pursue her friend. < Tina! Todd!> She only paused to pull in a breath before making a run for the fleeing twosome. But she’d never make it as she reached the woods, hearing Dawn’s screams.
The wind kicked up suddenly, clouds darkening and rolling across the sky, blacking out the sun within seconds and delivering the town into semi-darkness. She turned, expecting to see the twins but instead saw a furious Spike stalk past her, his eyes blacked to pitch and swirling with the dark powers he’d inherited from her blood. The gun shot wound in his head no longer bled but it was still there.
Knowing there was no talking to him in this state, from her own experience, she followed about two feet back. Both of them arrived in time to see Xander tearing at Dawn’s shirt just before he was thrown across the clearing into a large Oak. Willow hurried over to the terrified girl while Spike slowly lifted off the ground and floated menacingly toward the fallen brunette.
The whelp turned, his anger transmuting into fear at the oppressive look settling on the vampire’s face. He looked deadly, and he hadn’t even bothered with transforming,” No one touches my girls.” It was the last thing he’d ever hear.
Chapter 6
Willow smiled softly at the blond head resting on her shoulder. Her lover at last. She was both happy and sad that things had turned out the way that they had. Dawn’s son, John, would grow up never knowing his real father. The boy had been given a new name, John Holding, and would be returning to Copenhagen. He’d been named after Spike’s human past.
Dawn was emotionally scarred from all of this. Years of terror and what could only be described as torture taking it’s toll. She was a ghost of the happy child she used to be. On a regular basis she would seek Spike’s protection to hide from the world. And Buffy. She was the hardest, not on Spike necessarily but on her and Dawn. Amy had confided in her that a spell kept her from remembering what Dawn had tried to tell her. That had truly devastated the no longer adolescent. That Xander could go to such extremes.
Xander was a name no one spoke of, not even silently. It was like his existence had been erased. Not only had he raped Dawn and continued to do so. Not only had he found a spell to make Buffy forget his transgressions. He’d been the one to run Giles down when the spell hadn’t worked.
Giles had confronted him, ready to go to the police if necessary before storming out of the apartment. But Xander was having none of it and followed, waiting until the watcher got out of his car before hitting him and kept on going.
Xander’s fate had not been death as Willow had envisioned. Her lover was much more devious and merciless than anyone gave him credit. The blond’s first action was to make him deaf, right before he ripped out his tongue. Now he could no longer speak of what had happened nor hear his own screams. Spike’s next act was to take the chip that had once been in his head, something he had kept as a souvenir, and implanted it in the brunette’s own skull. But the blonde’s final act of revenge was helped by Tina and Todd.
Orchestrating their powers, they sent his spirit into the past. With painstaking slowness he was forced to relieve every one of Dawn’s brutalizations. Only it was he that was raped. He that was impregnated and gave birth. And he that suffered through every mental torment and fear that Dawn had. Only heightened by the powers of magic.
When at last they returned him to his body he was a quivering mass of nothing. Since Buffy’s death had already been ruled as ‘accidental’, the witches left Xander on the steps of the hospital. To be taken to the mental ward no doubt.
Spike stirred, looking up into the emerald eyes of his witch and smiling softly. He’d been afraid after everything he’d done to her friend she would hate him but she hadn’t. She’d simply held onto his waist and calmed him without words until the black had faded from his eyes and he’d returned to normal. Well, as normal as he got.
He sighed softly and rested his head back on her shoulder,” I love you.”
Willow smiled, lifting her head enough to kiss the top of his head,” And I love you, too.”
Rubbing his temple into her skin,” Mad at me?”
She kissed his head again,” Nope. Glad you took care of us. So...when do we leave this dump.”
She was actually speaking of the town, not wanting to stay here another moment,” Little while, luv. Things to get together for John and Dawn. Plus...Buffy needs to be buried...”
He said the last hesitantly. In his experience, women got jealous very easily,” We’re doing it tomorrow?”
He nodded a little, his eyes darting to gauge her reactions. She must had sensed his unease for she rolled them so he was on the bottom and she could look into his face easily,” I’m not mad now stop.” Biting the inside of his lower lip as her hand reached down to play with him,” ‘Sides...you might like me mad...I could tie you up and... take advantage of you...” He growled lustfully, loving that domineering quality of their relationship. She was fire and he certainly loved to play with her.
