Chapter 5
I was barely aware of somebody pulling me inside and away from the impending dawn and I was given blood to drink. I couldn’t open my eyes because they were swollen shut, it hurt to take in air, and my head and back were throbbing in excruciating pain.
“Thank you whoever helped me.” I mumbled from my split and swollen lip.
“Don’t mention it Spike.” I heard Willie say as he placed a cold cloth into my hand.
“Willie? Why are you doing this?” I asked suddenly suspicious.
“Well, if anything happened to you here and the Slayer found out I’d be just another corpse in the overflowing mortuary of Sunnydale.” He replied in all honesty; there were no loyalties between us, just him watching out for his own ass.
“Well, thank you. But I need you to go and find Buffy and warn her that this… bloody hell I don’t even know what it was. But she needs to know that there’s a new Big Bad in town and it’s out for her.” I said.
“Not just her. This thing just plain ol’ likes to kill.” Willie answered.
“Wha’dya mean?” I asked him. His response was odd.
“I mean, after she threw you outside, I skedaddled with most of the others, but a handful stayed, and well, they were massacred Spike. The three D’s: dismembered, dissected and disemboweled… and she was nowhere to be seen. I don’t know why she left you alone, but count your lucky stars.”
I scoffed and was rewarded with blinding pain. “Oh, bloody hell!” I growled, feeling my face shift into vampire visage. “Willie, go and find Buffy. Now.” I commanded.

We had all spent the night at the Magic Box, looking and cross-referencing anything and everything we could about this beast and queen and the prophecy attached to them.
“Well at least this killing machine monster hasn’t shown its ugly mug, that’s a plus.” Xander said, trying to lighten our morale. Just then a man came running through the front door, looking around frantically until his eyes rested on me.
“Slayer! You’re here, great!” he exclaimed as he ran up to me.
“Willie?!” I asked shocked.
“Yeah, oh man, there’s something brand new in town and Spike sent me to warn you. This thing, she’s out to get you Slayer.” He said, trying to catch his breath. Everyone’s eyes grew wide at this, before turning and glaring at a very shame-faced Xander. Giles merely commenced to close the store and shoo out the few customers.
“Okay, calm down Willie. What happened?” I asked, sitting him down.
“Well, she came in and asked for me, wanting to know information about you, she threatened to kill me if I didn’t tell her.” He said, his body shaking uncontrollably.
“And so you being the fink that you are, you sold us out.” Xander said angrily.
“Hey I may like living, but I would never sell you guys out.” He proclaimed defensively, looking me in the eyes. “I swear Slayer.”
“I believe you Willie; you know I’d turn you into a quadriplegic if you ever did. So what happened, I mean, if you didn’t tell her anything why are you still here?”
“Spike came in and they got into a huge brawl, me and most of the customers left in a heartbeat while she was busy battling Spike, but some stayed. I don’t know what all happened after that, but when I came back shortly before sunrise today, Spike was slumped against a wall, badly beaten up and there was carnage everywhere. It appears that after Spike, she killed every last demon that had stayed behind.”
“You keep saying ‘she’.” Giles interjected. “Can you tell us just what it is we’re dealing with?”
“I don’t know, I mean, part of me knows that when she came in she looked different, but my memory’s all fuzzy on her looks... I was in awe of her at the time. All I remember is what she looked like after she changed.”
“Changed?” We all exclaimed in confusion at once.
“Yeah, she morphed… and the final end product was like, an unearthly mixture of a human and cat; a big black cat. We’re talking claws, fangs, tail, the works.” He finished as we all looked at Giles, wanting an explanation, but he looked as puzzled as the rest of us.
“Willie, where’s Spike?” I asked. He looked at me sadly.
