End of Chapter 4
A smile touched her lips as she turned up the next flight of stairs, and instead of progressing up them she headed out onto the floor just beneath her own. Setting her bag down she leaned back against the wall if they were any good they would be able to follow her and she would be waiting for them when they came through the door.
Chapter 5 - Who you are!
Angel stopped halfway up the flight of stairs the scent was growing faint just lingering, turning back down he nodded toward the door leading onto one of the floors of the hotel.
“She went that way.” Angel headed back down the stairs as Cordelia opened the door glancing over her shoulder as she walked onto the floor Angel felt a prickling at the back of his neck, and rushed forward pushing past Wesley.
Synn smiled at the brunette that came through the door a look of surprise on her face. Seconds later a bundle of muscle came charging through the door throwing the woman off balance.
“Angel.” Cordelia cried grabbing at Angel as she tried to regain her balance.
Synn laughed softly whoever sent this vampire and friends after her was cracked they were just well amusing as hell.
“Thought I warned you earlier, I’m not in the mood for a vampire tonight.” Synn’s humor drained away as she recognized the man who entered the alcove where the stairs were located. He had been on the street with Varrik when she put two bullets through his chest. Then there was the glaring Soul she hadn’t noticed surrounding the vampire before her, then again she had been focused on other things earlier. But still that she missed something like that just wasn’t like her at all.
“You killed a prospective client of mine today.” Angel replied, it wasn’t a lie exactly.
“Really if Varrik’s an example of the type of jobs Angel Investigations takes on well lets just say I will be more than happy to relieve you of a few more clients prospective or otherwise in he near future.” Synn pushed off the wall. “I must say I am impressed most people wouldn’t have been able to find me, how did you manage that.”
“License plate number,” Angel lied and watched her raise a brow a smile curving her lips.
“Really, you can do better than that because I know exactly where you would have ended up following that particular lead and it wouldn’t be here. Doesn’t really matter though,” Synn shrugged and spun around with roundhouse kick that connected with his face and sent him to the floor.
“Magic, we used magic to find you.” Wesley cut in as the girl advanced on Angel.
Synn gaze flickered over the other man who despite the librarian vibe he oozed was decidedly attractive, English accent included. The vampire got to his feet swiftly with a growl.
“Impressive, most people don’t think to go that route. It wasn’t one of you though you’re not powerful enough to get past my wards.” Synn’s senses were focused on the only threat in the room while her gaze flickered over the brunette who plastered herself against the wall.
“She didn’t have to get past your wards we found you with a locator spell. We just want to talk,” Wesley supplied his gaze taking in the beauty before him. He had thought her a girl earlier and in age she may be a girl, but within the depths of those eyes she was anything but. The years he spent training to be a watcher made him feel responsible for the girl, wondering how they could have let a potential slip through the cracks this way.
Angel remained where he was surprised that Wesley was taking charge of the situation. Remaining alert he didn’t plan on letting this slayer surprise him again, Buffy and Faith were both very good but he hadn’t expected the move, and she moved quickly.
“My time costs money,” Synn responded her eyes flicking over them her senses screaming that they were not her enemy but her training told her otherwise, everyone was a potential enemy. “I don’t mean to be rude but you don’t look like you can afford me.”
“Wouldn’t you like to know who you are?” Wesley asked and saw a flicker pass through those violet eyes and pressed on. “Why you feel so different from everyone else?”
“I know who I am. I doubt very much you have any idea who I am or what I can do.” Synn responded her gaze flickering over the librarian her assessment of him changing as he met her gaze steadily.
“Haven’t you ever wondered why you’re stronger and faster than everyone else? Or how wounds that should take weeks to heal only take a day or two,” Wesley cocked his head to the side. “Or why you get that tingling in you gut telling you that there is a vampire or some other demon nearby?”
Synn rolled her eyes turning away from him. There was something about him that resonated through her that made her want to listen to what he had to say. There were so many questions she had yet Adrian had never been able to answer any of them. It wasn’t like they could hurt her she could take them all down in a matter of seconds even the vampire. It couldn’t hurt to at least listen to them, if she didn’t like what they had to say she could kill them later.
“Fine,” Synn growled moving toward stairs. “We’ll talk upstairs in my room.” It didn’t matter if they knew what room she was staying in because before the end of the night she would at a new hotel to many people knew where she was at the moment. Once she figured out what type of locator spell the used she could use a protection spell to protect herself that way.
Synn led the way not caring if they could keep up or not. Moving onto her floor she had her key out and swiped it glancing down the hall to see the vampire had kept up the others were trailing behind.
Tossing her bag in its usual spot she walked to fridge pulling out water waiting for them all to get into the room she twisted the top off and took a sip.
Angel glanced around the room. It was one of the more expensive rooms all the luxuries but he doubted she used any of them. The fridge when she opened it opened it contained only water and fruit. The only personal items were the laptop and her bag he highly doubted that the bedroom area would be any different.
Synn watched the Englishman come into the room, followed by the brunette who glared at Synn and took a seat without asking. Synn couldn’t help but like her instantly.
“I am Wesley Wyndham Price this is Cordelia Chase, and Angel.” Wesley began his gaze moving back to the girl when she simply raised a brow he decided to let it go.
“There are so many things you should know about yourself, about your calling.” Wesley began taking of his glasses and cleaning them. “We shall start at the beginning.”
“Please do.” Synn replied meeting his gaze as she watched him pacing and furiously rubbing his glasses.
“To each generation there is born a Slayer, and in the past there has only been one.” Wesley began deciding not to quote the prophesy exactly as it was written. “The Slayer is the chosen one a champion sent to fight the forces of darkness or evil. You are a Slayer.”
“What’s a Slayer?” Synn asked amused at how passionately he had just given his little speech.
“A Slayer is a warrior who possesses superior strength, agility, healing ability, and other inherent qualities that allow her to fight vampires and demons. The watcher council is located in London, and I don’t know how they missed you they usually keep such good tabs on the potentials. Normally all potentials are placed in the care of a watcher, and they advise and help them train until their called.”
Synn lifted her water to her lips and her gaze slid to the vampire who was watching her closely, though not as closely as Cordelia.
“It sounds crazy I know, but you’re a Slayer.” Cordelia supplied she wasn’t sure about this girl. She was cold blooded killer and it showed in every move she made filled with purpose since they entered the hotel room Cordelia hadn’t taken her eyes off the girl just in case.
Synn smiled, turning her gaze to the brunette. “You wouldn’t see it coming, so you can blink now.”
Cordelia narrowed her eyes at the younger woman, “Don’t you have any manners you could offer us a drink.”
“All I have is water, and the fridge is right there if you want something.” Synn replied watching as she got up mumbling under her breath and jerked open the fridge grabbing two waters. With a glare she walked back to the table and set the second bottle of water in front of Wesley.
“There are two other slayers Buffy she lives in Sunnydale, Ca and Faith Evans who is currently in a coma and now there is you.” Wesley sighed wondering how the council was going to screw this up. He had personally messed things up with Buffy, and Faith had never respected him.
“So I am a Slayer?” Synn asked softly, “One of the chosen ones is that what you used to find me?” When she didn’t receive a response a deadly smile crossed her lips. “Thanks for the info you can leave now.”
“There is so much more?” Wesley met her gaze, “You don’t have to be alone we can help you.”
“Help me what fight the good fight?” Synn asked, “Not exactly a team player here and you’re forgetting one small little fact I might be Slayer but I am defiantly not a good guy. I don’t just kill demons like Varrik for some higher purpose I am a hired assassin they pay me I kill it simple as that.”
Even as she spoke the words she knew they were entirely true had turned down various jobs until Adrian got the hint and only sent those that fit her profile her way. In her early days though she had taken the jobs they gave her never questioning why or bothering to find out anything about her marks other than what she needed to know to get the job done.
“You could be so much more.” Wesley responded not sure how to handle this girl. Faith and Buffy had been difficult but how did you deal with a girl who had no concept of what being a Slayer was.
“You don’t even know me.” Synn leaned forward. “The only reason I let you come up here was to learn how you tracked me down, to make sure it wouldn’t happen again. I have my answer.”
Angel didn’t even see it he felt it slide into his stomach a slender blade thrown with enough force that it pinned him to the wall. As he lifted his gaze he watched shocked as she used the small table to sending Wesley flying backwards his head cracking against the wall he slumped to the floor, and in the same motion her fist connected with Cordelia’s cheek sending her unconscious to the floor.
Synn lifted her gaze to the vampire and propelled herself over the table removing another blade tucked away.
Angel remained still she approached could have killed them all by now she still might.
“They will both wake up soon a little sore but what can I say.” Synn glanced down at the blade and jerked it out of his stomach.
Angel’s face shifted as the pain coursed through him, she had hit a vital organ he was sure of it. He struck out at her but she easily dodged it and the motion catching his arm and using it to send him face first into the wall twisting his arm to effectively anchor him there.
“I will think about what Wesley said and do a little research on my own when I make up my mind you’ll know about it I know where to find you.” Synn replied and sent a stunning blow to his head.
Synn let Angel slide to the floor and moving toward Cordelia she picked the brunette up and set her on the couch in the sitting area. Moving toward Wesley she checked to make sure he was alright and moved him into a more comfortable position fixing his glasses which she had knocked askew.
Walking around the room she picked up her things up stuffing them into her duffle bag. First things first she needed to do a spell to mask her from any search for Slayers that was easy enough. Next she needed to find out exactly where Sunnydale, Ca was because she would be visiting there after a little research trip to London.
