One week later, Faith was still trying to adjust to the fact she was living in an actual house again. This time around, however, she didn’t want to run screaming from the place. She actually liked it there, liked Mrs. Summers. It was nice to actually have someone care about what happened to her, even if it meant following some rules. Of course, it helped that Joyce’s rules were pretty easy going. Curfew wasn’t even much of an issue most nights because of slaying.
The battle on whether she would have to go to school again was a losing one and the brunette knew it. Now she was just trying to buy some time before she actually had to go. She was being super-nice to Giles and Buffy’s mom, hoping to stall them, but Giles was already starting the process of getting her ready for school. It was a Friday and while the others were in classes, the watcher had her taking placement tests so the school would know what classes to put her in.
Faith only hated one thing about the situation. She wasn’t getting anywhere with Buffy. They hadn’t gone on any dates since she moved in because they were always surrounded by the blonde’s friends or Mrs. Summers. Outside of a couple stolen kisses before the two went to bed, separately even, they hadn’t done anything either. The only thing they did alone was patrol and it had been a busy week so they had no extra time there either.
“Okay, Faith, time’s up,” Giles stated and took the last test from the young slayer.
“Thank God,” Faith leaned back in her chair and tossed her pencil across the table. “Did I mention that I didn’t want to go to school?”
“Constantly,” the watcher sighed and shook his head at her. “You need to go to school with the others.”
“Does no one listen to me?” Faith sighed and looked at him. “I won’t be with the others. I’m younger and not that smart.”
“I disagree,” Giles said and sat down next to her, “I’ve looked at your tests and you’re by no means stupid. I’ve told the school you’ve been home schooled so you don’t have any other records which is why you’re taking the tests. And according to them, I think they might even put you in some advanced classes.”
Faith stared at him wide-eyed. “You’re cracked.”
“No, I’m not ‘cracked’,” the watcher stated, “you’ll be fine here.”
“How was testing?” Willow asked as she walked into the library.
“Just finished confirming I’m a moron,” Faith grunted, continuing to lean back in her chair.
Willow sat down next to her and looked at the test booklet. “Oh, I loved taking this one. I would time myself to see how fast I could get each section done.” Faith stared and smirked at her. “Yes, I know how that sounds.”
“As long as you know,” Faith sighed. “I hate school.”
“I wouldn’t worry about it,” the redhead responded. “I’ll help you if you have some trouble with your classes.”
“You’ll do my homework for me?” the brunette slayer grinned.
“No, I’ll help,” Willow said. She leaned in and looked at Faith, keeping her voice low. “I can probably help you with Buffy, too.”
Faith furrowed her brow. “What do you mean, Red?”
“She told me about you two,” Willow explained and grinned at the shocked look on the young slayer’s face. “No one else knows.”
“Oh,” Faith said and looked away from the redhead. “How can you help? She’s been avoiding me.”
“That’s not it, Faith,” Willow said, “it’s just with the move and Xander and I always being there, you haven’t found the time.”
“I can make time,” Faith said. “Even at the house, there’s been nothing.”
“Okay, I make an excuse for the two of you tonight and then you can go out without anyone being suspicious.”
Faith looked up and grinned. “That’s cool of you, Red. Thanks.”
Willow was just about to say something when the library doors swung open and Buffy, Xander, Cordelia and Oz walked in. The redhead brightened when she saw Oz and Faith grinned at the blonde slayer.
“No more book learning for Faith today?” Xander smiled and crashed in the seat next to Faith.
“No more as far as I’m concerned,” the young slayer groaned as the other teens took seats at the table.
“So what are we doing tonight?” Xander asked, looking around at everyone.
“What else is there to do in this crappy town?” Cordelia sighed. “Bronze.”
The others nodded and Oz spoke. “We’re playing tonight.”
“Which means I’ll be there,” Willow smiled at Oz. “I never miss a performance when I can help it.”
“Okay, so we’re going,” Xander said. “Buff, Faith, will you be joining us after a little slayage?”
Buffy opened her mouth to say something, but Willow spoke up instead. “Faith was telling me they have other plans after slaying.”
“Uh, yeah,” Faith said, looking mostly at a confused Buffy, “I was thinking we’d just call it an early night. That cool?”
The blonde looked a little flustered but nodded. “Sure, that’s the plan.” She paused. “We should probably go, Faith. Mom’ll be waiting.”
The pair said their goodbyes and walked in silence until they were about a block away from the school. Buffy turned her head to look at the brunette as they walked.
“What was the deal back there?” she asked.
Faith sighed. “Ever since I moved in, we haven’t done anything together. I was talking with Red and she said she’d cover for us.” She paused. “How come you didn’t tell me she knew?”
“I guess I didn’t realize I hadn’t,” Buffy responded, wondering how she could have forgotten that. “I’m not avoiding the situation if that’s what you’re thinking. I’m just trying to get used to everything.”
“So am I,” the younger slayer said, “it just would have been nicer to go through I had could just take you aside and kiss you a little every once and awhile.”
Buffy laughed. “I wouldn’t have objected to that.”
“Yeah, now you tell me,” Faith laughed with her as the two reached the house. They walked in and were greeted by Joyce bringing a couple bags down the stairs.
“Hi, girls,” Joyce said while letting out a breath, “I suppose you’re wondering about the bags.”
“Yeah, a little,” Buffy said, looking from her mother to the bags on the floor.
“Well, there’s a little problem with a shipment the gallery has coming in through San Diego,” she explained. “I have to work out some deals down there so I can complete the sale with a collector here. It’s a little time sensitive so I have to leave pretty quickly. You two will be okay while I’m gone, right?”
“Sure, Mrs. S,” Faith said easily and looked at Buffy with a half smile, thinking of all the things they could do while being alone in the house. “We’ll be fine.”
“How long will you be gone, Mom?”
“Shouldn’t be more than two or three days,” she answered, double checking her bags and purse to make sure she had everything. “I left some money on the counter and there’s plenty of food in the fridge. I know Faith can cook so you shouldn’t starve.”
Faith laughed and Buffy scowled at her mother. The brunette had been helping around the house to show how grateful she was to Mrs. Summers for letting her stay there and helped with dinner most of the time.
“That’s funny, Mom,” Buffy said sarcastically then groaned as her mom hugged her.
“Be good,” Joyce said and hugged Faith, too. “Do not do any damage to the house.”
“We’ll be fine,” Buffy said. “Bye, Mom.”
“Bye,” was all Faith said as they watched the blonde’s mother quickly toss her bags in the car and drive off. The brunette closed the door and embraced Buffy, lifting her off the ground. “We’re alone!”
“You caught that,” Buffy laughed and let Faith lead her over to the couch. “Now we probably could go to the Bronze tonight.”
“Nah, I don’t want to,” Faith responded, sitting them both down. She kissed the blonde lightly on the lips and pulled away. “There’s a lot I want to do with you and none of it’s something we can do in public... unless you want to.”
Buffy laughed. “You’ve got it all planned out, don’t you?” The brunette nodded. “Well, we’ve got the whole weekend. What did you want to do?”
“I can think of a lot we could do in a weekend,” Faith grinned, “but lets start with this: we’ve have some dinner, do a quick patrol and come back here.”
“Okay,” the blonde agreed.
******
The late evening found Faith and Buffy relaxing on the couch, watching some movie they had picked up after a short patrol through a couple cemeteries. They were both resting against each other and Faith had a huge smile plastered on her face.
The only thought going through the brunette’s mind was wondering how far she would be able to get with Buffy tonight. She hadn’t so much as thought about sex with someone other than Buffy since she had asked her out and it was starting to get to her. She hadn’t had sex in weeks and that wasn’t a real problem, but when she was next to someone she very much wanted to have sex with, it was starting to get to her. The post-slay itch was enough to drive her crazy most nights and tonight was no exception.
Faith wrapped her arm around Buffy and pulled her closer. She smiled a little more when Buffy moved into her as a response. She kissed the top of her head and let out a breath.
“What are you thinking, B?”
“I was trying not to think actually,” Buffy responded, looking at the TV. “If I think, doubts might come into my head and I don’t want that.”
“If you don’t want them, they won’t happen,” Faith said. She held the blonde a little tighter, hoping she hadn’t just started a conversation that would end badly for her.
“You know that’s crap,” Buffy looked up at the brunette. “I hope you don’t think I don’t like this. I do.” She pushed herself enough to be eye level with Faith. “I really like you.”
Faith didn’t respond, just leaned in and softly kissed her. Buffy smiled a little into the kiss and then returned it casually. The younger slayer took the next step, pushing her tongue slowly into the blonde’s mouth.
Buffy gasped into the kiss then responded by putting her hands in the brunette’s hair. They moved together, getting as close to each other as possible. Faith rocked into Buffy slightly, enough for her to start to lay down with the young slayer on top of her.
They continued to kiss, only breaking apart to take the occasional breath. Faith started to have enough confidence in the situation to begin to feel up the girl beneath her. She tugged at her legs so Buffy was fully lying down on the couch and she was resting on her hands, holding herself above her.
Faith started to trail a hand down Buffy’s side, stopping when she reached her waist. She held her close to her as she broke the kiss and started to move down the older slayer’s neck.
“Mmm, Faith?” Buffy stated it as a question, a little distracted by the fact Faith nibbling on her exposed neck.
“Yeah?” Faith mumbled, still busying herself with kissing and licking Buffy’s pulse point.
“This isn’t the most comfortable position,” she said and was amazed at the speed at which Faith jumped off her. She knew instantly Faith misinterpreted what she has said. The brunette almost leapt off the couch entirely but Buffy put her legs on her lap as soon as the brunette sat up. “What I mean is, I don’t want to do this on the couch. There’s something poking me.”
“Oh, shit, you had me scared,” Faith let out the breath she’d been holding. She thought for a second before looking back at Buffy. “What do you have in mind?”
“I don’t know,” Buffy said shyly, “that felt so good. I don’t know what to do next.”
Faith stood up and offered a hand to the other girl. “Maybe we should get some sleep, B,” she smiled, pulling her up.
“Uh, okay,” she responded, not really expecting that offer from Faith, and walked up the stairs with the younger girl. They passed Buffy’s room and went straight for Faith’s, the blonde pausing when they passed hers but allowed herself to be pulled farther. Faith pulled her into the room and closed the door behind them.
“I know last time you said you were nervous about doing stuff on your bed,” she grinned, “so I thought we could try this one.”
Buffy giggled and took a step closer. “I don’t know if we should go as far as you want to.”
“How do you know how far I want to go?”
“We went slaying tonight, Faith,” Buffy smiled. “Hungry and horny, right?”
“Oh,” Faith looked down, “yeah.”
“Have you been... you know... seeing other guys or girls, whatever, since you asked me out?” Buffy asked hesitantly, not knowing if she wanted to know the answer. “I mean, I wouldn’t blame you if you did...”
“B,” Faith put a hand up to stop her, “I haven’t been screwing anyone in awhile. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t driving me a little crazy.”
Buffy grinned at her. She was amazed Faith liked her enough not to scratch the “itch” she always said she got. The brunette continued to surprise her. “Okay,” she said simply and lifted her head up to kiss the young slayer.
Faith eagerly returned the kiss and backed them up to the edge of the bed. She fell back onto the bed, bringing Buffy with her. The blonde fell on top of her, but neither of them broke away. Their hands started to roam each other’s bodies, each feeling the other’s skin. Faith brought a hand under Buffy’s tank top and thanked God silently when the blonde didn’t stop her.
They rolled around on the bed, their hands starting to map out the other’s body, every dip and curve. Faith instantly loved the feel of Buffy against her. It was something she could never put into words and her mind went on overload at what it would feel like without clothes in the way. They continued making out, fully clothed, for about ten minutes before they finally pulled away from each other.
“I don’t want you to have any regrets about anything, B,” Faith said, keeping a hand on Buffy, “maybe we should just sleep tonight.”
“Aw, you’re so sweet,” the older slayer teased, making the other girl look down and shake her head.
“Only for you, B,” Faith smiled then looked the other girl in the eye. “I know you don’t have all that much experience.”
The blonde blushed and looked down, almost like she was embarrassed. Faith mentally kicked herself for bringing up the topic. The last thing she wanted was to make the other girl uncomfortable.
“Don’t be embarrassed, B,” she said, putting her hand on Buffy’s chin and pushing her face up so she would look at her, “I don’t care. If I did, I wouldn’t be here. Besides, I can teach you things,” she finished up, smirking.
Buffy blushed again. “Okay, I think we should just get some sleep.”
Faith laughed. “All right, I won’t say any more.” She pulled the blonde closer to her and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Good night, baby.”
Buffy smiled widely but didn’t say anything. It was the first time the younger slayer called her ‘baby’. She wasn’t sure if she should call attention to it or not. Instead, she just snuggled into the curves on the other girl’s body and closed her eyes, breathing in the scent that was purely Faith. “Good night, Faith.”
